MMTPT535 ~ October 23, 2018 ~That's All, Folks!
WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY CHALLENGE MMTPT535
"That's All, Folks"
Anyone is welcome to play -the more, the merrier! You automatically become a TEApotter the first time you play in our challenge. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something about the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
Hurricane Florence was a devastating event in our southeast states. Before, during, and after the storm, rescue teams in the form of power crews, tree removal crews, emergency operations, volunteers, and rescue squads from all over the country queued up to be ready to do what needed to be done. One story about how the community came together really touched my heart. To me, it shows that there are good and caring people and that the spirit of community can benefit some of the most vulnerable among us. It just takes heart--that's all, folks!
Here's the story from the news:
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue went to Florence, South Carolina, Wednesday to pick up 38 dogs and seven cats. On their way back to the D.C. area, their van broke down outside Fayetteville, North Carolina. The staff and van full of pets were left stranded at a gas station on a sweltering 90-degree day. The shelter sent out an urgent message on their Facebook page, asking for help. "EMERGENCY!!! NORTH CAROLINA SUPPORTERS. THE VAN IS BROKEN DOWN ON INTERSTATE 95. Exit 40. 911. We need help for the driver who is unloading the dogs to shade. EMERGENCY," the desperate post read.
The community quickly responded, and more than 55 people showed up to help unload the dogs, give them water and keep them cool. Lucky Dog says a van from Looney's K9 Rescue Transport, which is based in South Carolina, showed up and took the animals the rest of the way. A kindhearted citizen even paid to replace the group's broken alternator.
"Today, in the face of one of the worst storms the Carolinas have ever seen, 55 amazing people took time out of their own preparations to help our dogs and cats. We are truly LUCKY to have them in our lives," the shelter said in a news release.
CHALLENGE:
Today we honor "Looney's Rescue Transport", a husband-wife team in South Carolina, who along with their volunteers came to the rescue of the rescuers! Use something that inspired you from this story to create a Thank You card and send it to:
SEND YOUR CARDS TO:
Looney's K9 Rescue Transport
108 Schell Drive
Lexington, SC 29072
USA
In Donna Looney's words: "This transport was a Godsend, I say that because we travel the I -81 corridor but decided to take I-95 instead. We were on our way back from a transport. When I read that a van full of dogs had broken down. We messaged them to let them know we were over an hour away but will help any way possible to get those furkids to safety. We truly love what we do."
EXTRA COOKIES: Bring your pet to tea day! Attach a picture of your favorite fur baby in your challenge thread post!
Here is a Quick Link to the Teapot Tuesday MMTPT535 Challenge Gallery
Here's my card: MMTPT535 Not Looney
Be sure to you use KEYWORD MMTPT535 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card!
Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Post your request HERE or send a PM to Jacqueline.

Here is my card for the Challenge. Had the perfect image coloured up and ready to go - just need matting up. This card will go to a wonderful cause.
Can't work out how to attach photo of the fur babies - anyone got any idea?

Growing up with dogs and cats always, I know how transport matters. We usually used to bring the dogs on holidays, in crates on the trailer my dad made. I'm sure he made the crates too, LOL.

I meant to add a couple of stories about why I love the stamp I used. In my teens we had an Afghan, but ours was black. She was a rehomed dog and must have been badly treated by her previous owners because she was scared of being touched. She'd flinch if you went to pat her, and proper brushing was just about impossible so twice a year the vet would give my mother knockout pills do that she could get her looking reasonable. I used to love watching her gallop along the beach.
My mother's last dog was a little Westie they got as a pup. And then all of a sudden they moved from town to country and at first town-dog Daisy didn't know what to make of it. My mum got shingles when they moved, so it was DH and I who brought Daisy on her first country walk. We met a herd of cows along the road to the post office, and she was petrified. She was shaking and trembling and wouldn't budge; we had to pick her up and carry her till we were past them.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am sitting here blinking back tears. It's so beautiful to read about the kindness of others. 55 people! That is awesome! Thank you for the story! Today is one of those days so I might not get to it today but I will try to get a card made at some point!

I would never miss an opportunity to show off my fur babies. This fabulous portrait of my pup, Kaden who crossed the rainbow bridge this year, was done by our very own Dina Kowal. She has an amazing talent!

I followed her progress on Instagram. I just love what she did here!

First, here’s my card.
MMTPT535 - for furry rescuers by Miss Boo - at Splitcoaststampers
Here’s a fun story about yesterday.
A little back story. Our cat Princess (18 years old) lives with her dad because my DH and I are living separately for a few years. Long story. And our cat Chloe, the 9 years old scaredy cat, lives with my son and me.
So, two cats followed my son home from the bus yesterday and just waltzed into our apartment like they lived here. My poor son who has autism and cerebral palsy was at a loss of what to do. If Princess had been there, her tail would have grown three sizes, she would have hissed and then she would have chased them out. My cat though? She ran and hid under my bed My son shouted his alarm. I was stunned. But sure enough. We had two cats sniffing around our living room. They were good cats though and let me pick them up and take them back outside.
Here he is on my messy bed wearing his Halloween collar

Many, many years ago my beautiful old Labrador, Sam passed away. This image reminds me of him and the hours and hours we spent together watching sunrises and sunsets. I got him as a rescue dog, to this day I still think he was the one who rescued me.
Thanks for a wonderful Teaparty Jean. This is already in the mail.

My passion is rescuing senior dogs! (see my signature tag line ) I got shivers down my spine & tears in my eyes while reading the story of the rescue of the rescue van! It will be an honor to send Looney's K9 rescue a "thank you" card. I am pretty sure I still have a particular card in my stash that has a dog on the front. If so, it is going out to Looney's K9 rescue.

my card---love fur babies as they become part of the family and give unconditional love over and over again----have had animals of all kinds all my life---when kids were little they had rabbits, dogs, cats frogs---one really huge one, turtles, fish, raccoon, LOL---they even had those big fat night crawlers---as I use to sell them to fishermen as we lived by fishing lake and they each picked out nice fat ones wanting to have a race ----I put down an old plastic tablecloth, and put down a finish line and then their worms---you know they do not move fast and after x amount of time I said you better make the finish line closer----we even had a few unwanted bats that some how got in the house as well as a snake we did not know about til I went to dry clothes in the cellar and he had shed his skin on the wall by dryer---LOL---never a dull moment!

And here are my new little fur babies, Blondie and Trixie. Blondie has a lovely blond patch on her head and back.
