the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty
and Challenge #299
First Nemo, Now Cousin Namo; Can't You Stay at Home?
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
The Rest of the Story:
1: While Nemo is finally home and chilaxin with the fam, cousin Namo has decided he needs to get out of this aquarium and see the sights. Everyone is focused on welcoming Nemo home and they don't notice that Namo has swum further and further away from the school and is heading toward the overflow valve which opens to the spillway and drains into the Gulf. Namo has heard stories all his life about the wonders of the gulf and all the wild sights there and he is determined to see them for himself.
2: Once out of the inlet and headed for the gulf, Namo is in awe at all the colorful fish, the coral, the plant life; and he swims on and on without a care in the world. The amazing colors and textures of the coral intrique him most of all but there are so many different kinds of fish he has never seen before that he doesn't stay at the reef for long. He wants to meet all these new swimmers and find out what they are all about. He joins a school of brightly flashing small fish but they swim way to fast for him to keep up so he turns towards another group and notices they are lovely blue colored and seem to enjoy jumping out of the water into the air and then back down. Oh that looks like fun he thinks and heads over to join them. But alas, he isn't strong enough for that either.
3: Finally he sees a group of much larger fish that seem to swim lazily by and all the other fish move out of their way. Oh, wow; he thinks these fish must be important, "I'll hang around them for awhile" None of the larger fish seem to pay him any attention at first so he swims along beside them until up ahead they seem to split up and form a circle swimming round and round which Namo has somehow ended up in the middle of. Frantically flipping back and forth, he tries to figure out this new game and is beginning to feel scared.
4: Then one of the larger fish swims up to him and buts him with it's snout and when Namo loses his direction and swims in a circle, the larger fish swims in a circle around him gradually every circle getting tighter and tighter. Quickly Namo using his smaller size is able to get out of the whirlpool caused by the larger fish but then there are dozens more between him and freedom. Swimming in zigs and zags he dodges right and then left trying to get between them and out of their reach. Finally able to swim clear of the larger fish, he swims as fast as he can in the direction that he thinks they came from. But nothing is looking familiar, He has been swimming in circles for so long that he has lost all sense of direction.
5: Rut Roh....By now all the fish back home in the aquarium have realized that Namo is gone and spying the open valve on the overflow chute, they suspect he has headed that direction. Sounding out an alarm, all the men fish gather and discuss a plan to find Namo. But women know how to bring a roaming fish home, and off they swim to gather some of his favorite seaweed snacks to use to lure him back to the aquarium.
