& THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TEAPARTY for May 7, 2013

KEEP CALM AND STAY LOGICAL
A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away
orbited a sleeper ship registered as the Botany Bay.
On this ship in suspended animation a super race slept
the guys were so hunky you would have wept.
When they awoke, the ousted leader named Khan
turned out to be a formidable enemy and an arrogant jerk.
To exile Khan Noonien Singh' s crew on Ceti Alpha 5 was the plan
it was the best alternative decided by the then Captain Kirk.
Years later these adversaries would meet again
it would be like a mix of jalapenos & cayenne.
Space, is certainly the final frontier
where bad guys, like Khan, put Ceti Eels in your ear.
Here, where a wormhole has caused time to collide
where Star Wars and Star Trek become allied.
I'm sorry you're the designated bait
but wearing that red shirt has sealed your fate.
On a planet called Tatooine
there's one place to see and be seen
in the city of Mos Eisley is Chalmun's Cantina
a betting, smuggling and gaming arena.
Care to play pazaak* sabacc** or roulette?
step right up and place your bet.
The gloves come off when Khan is caught cheating
it's not like Admiral Kirk to take kindly to this beating
Kirk: "We tried it once your way, Khan, are you game for a rematch? "
Khan: "I'm laughing at the "superior intellect."
Kirk: KHAAANNNN!
And so Kirk enlists his old friend Spock
to assist him in the game of Pazaak.
Vulcans are welcome to play on Tatooine
Spock's calm and logic are sure to pay off
when the game against Khan reconvenes.
Khan is so arrogant he loudly scoffs.
Logic is legal, it's not the same as counting cards.
A game like Pazaak for a Vulcan won't be hard.
After a few rounds Khan is down 42,000 credits and he is losing big,
if he keeps on screaming they'll throw him in the brig!
Khan: He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him! I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round Perdition's flames before I give him up!
Where Khan is emotional and hot headed
our Vulcan friend is quite level headed.
Keeping calm and staying logical
has an effect on Khan that's pathological.
Employing logic as only a Vulcan can
Khan feeds into the Admiral's plan
Khan is defeated and throws a fit
It's time for that cheater to quit.
Always remember the Klingon proverb:

And so to celebrate their victory against Khan
they buy a round of Romulan ale for the bar
lift their glasses with the following toast:

* Pazaak, an ancient game dating back to Old Republic times, was a popular card game in which the goal was to reach 20 without going over, or at least come closer to it than the opponent. The player with the nearest sum to the number 20 won the round, and the player who won three rounds won the match. If in one round the scores of the two players were equal, the round was not counted at all.
** The game of sabacc used a deck of seventy-six cards featuring sixty numbered cards divided into four suits, and two copies of eight special cards. Each player is dealt two cards (sometimes five, depending on the set of rules in play at the table) which make up their hand. There are four phases within each hand: Betting, Calling, Shifting and Drawing.
*** Klingon for - revenge is a dish that is best served cold
**** Klingon for - May your coordinates be free of tribbles.
CHALLENGE TRANSLATION:
Bring anything from The Star Wars or Star Trek franchises, or board games, dice, roulette, the colors red, black or gray. If you wear red we cannot guarantee you will survive the tea party. (For all you non Trekkers, the character wearing the red shirt usually doesn't make it to the end of the episode.)
Special Note: Scripture is fine.

Bring an Enterprise starship. If you bring a tribble or a Ceti eel you cannot even come in the back door.
