MMTPT735 - August 23, 2022 - R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. with a Twist
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT735 R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. with a Twist
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: jacqueline/Jacqueline
CHALLENGE: We all know R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. stands for the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). My challenge is to choose one of the letters and use the associated color predominantly in your design. The twist is you must also include an additional element that begins with that same letter. For example, if you choose G - your card would feature a lot of green and maybe an image of a goat or gecko, or you might use glitter on your card. If you choose O, your card would contain a lot of orange and maybe an oval die cut or owl image.
CARD TYPE/THEME: Hello, Hugs, Thinking of You, Encouragement
This week's Tea Party was requested by Miss Boo (Jen), for her sister-in-law, Cori who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April. She was told it was slow growing, however, after the lumpectomy in May, the docs found out they were wrong. Originally, the plan was to only have radiation, but now Cori is in chemotherapy. Jen thought that Cori could use some Teapotter encouragement. Cori is a teacher, her favorite color is purple, she’s been great in the gym the past year and she loves dogs. She’s also proactive for gay rights because her son came out as gay a few years ago.

Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Send your request to Jennifrann via PM or e-mail [email protected]. Include SCS Teaparty Request in the subject line.
First, I absolutely LOVE this challenge of a color and an element with the same letter from the colors of the rainbow - thank you Jacqueline!
What is the proper way to sign a card to the weekly recipient? I participated in a few teapot challenges earlier this year and did mail out my cards, but this is something I have been wondering about. I assume the cards are not a surprise and that the recipient has approved their address to be shared, so does this mean that they have some basic understanding about this card making community? Would it be appropriate to sign my first name and then add underneath "Splitcoast Stampers" (since the recipient will have no idea who Sue is, or Julie is, or Beth is, etc. without tying in some reference point).
If I missed a Help document or some instructions, feel free to reply with a link. I am open to any advice or suggestions!

Thanks so much and happy card making,
Mer
Hi Mer,
There is no protocol as such...
In many cases the teaparty has been requested by someone here. Some people, I think. like to leave it as a surprise till the cards start arriving, and then explain. Some people, when it's for family I think their family work out pretty quickly what it's all about. I usually write a short note if I can be relevant - but if it's a situation I personally have no experience of I can't really say much more than sending good wishes. If it's a request from someone here, then me personally, I would probably refer to that in my note, or sign it Sabrina, an online friend of ...
Sometimes it will be part of a wider card-drive, like a critically ill child wanting to get x amount of cards. In that case I'd probably add that I'm sending from Ireland, just in case in they missed the stamp on the envelope ;-).
If I have an appropriate sentiment, I'll stamp it on the inside and/or write a note with well wishes to let them know I'm thinking of them and praying for them (also if appropriate). I usually sign off as Jacqueline in NC or Your friend, Jacqueline. Lengthy explanations aren't necessary. As Sabrina mentioned most of the recipients are nominated by friends/family and are eventually let in on the surprise. Happy to have you as a teapotter! And, thanks for loving my challenge!

Here is my card for Cori, I will mail it out this weekend.
I opted to go with Yellow as the predominant color and my design element for the letter Y is the "You" die cut word.
I love this challenge so much and have enjoyed seeing the variety of creations you all have been uploading. I plan to make more cards using the other colors and their corresponding first letters, to keep on hand for future use!
