Happy Tuesday! I am here with our first challenge for February.
Anyone is welcome to play - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a TEApotter the first time you play in our challenge. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
CHALLENGE:
I'm going with a fashion angle this week to represent one of the things our tea party guest of honor likes. My challenge is to incorporate some kind of textile element into your card...here are a few ideas:
Prints: plaid, argyle, stripes, polka dots, animal prints, calico, etc. Texture: use embossing folders, velvet, corduroy, lace, fabric, leather (faux leather technique), etc.
DESTINATION STATION: This week were jet-setting to The Netherlands (well, at least our cards will be). Our tea party is in honor of Ms. Annie Beerkens who also happens to be the mother of Teaparty TEAm member snietje (Anita). When I heard about Annie, I thought she would be a perfect candidate to receive some warm fuzzies.
Annie was recently released from the hospital and is recovering from a serious lung infection. If you didn't know, Anita (snietje) lives in France, quite a distance from her mom, and was quite worried. Anita says Annie loves flowers, plants and tending to her garden but also LOVES shopping and is quite the fashion plate. I'm told, that even at 78 years old, she is always dressed in the latest fashions.
SEND YOUR CARD TO: Ms. Annie Beerkens Kogeldistel 36 5803 HM Venray The Netherlands
Be sure to use KEYWORD MMTPT498 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card! Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Post your request HERE or send a PM to jacqueline.
Jacqueline I was thrilled to get Plaid today, as I just bought this paper! I made this one for my son; HOWEVER, my Color Challenge card will go to Anita's Mother: Here is a link to my Color Challenge! YOU MADE THOSE COOKIES??? Oh my word! You need to open up a bakery shop!!!

Does anyone know how much it cost to send a card to The Netherlands? I rather use stamps then go to the Post Office. ;)

I grabbed a card from my stash, A Fashionable Hello and popped it in today's mail. It even had the right title! Anita, I hope your mom is recovering quickly.
Yes, and I just came back from the post office. Your can buy international postage to have on hand at that price per stamp. I got a book of 10.
I wish our postage rate was this good. Our current international price is $3. Lumpy cards start at $8....needless to say I don't send lumpy bumpy cards.

Yikes, Susie!! Is that AUD? I just looked up the exchange rate. Your basic international is about the same as our second tier rate for over 5mm thick but still under 100g..
Here's my card Merry Tartan hope to do another one more appropriate for Anita's mum as I mentioned in my write up. Going to need a little time and creative space for that one but I'm dying to give it ago.
This card meets the challenge requirements of patterns of large and bitty polka dots, stripes, texturized embossing, plus a bit of bling, but it is for my Mom. I will sent Anita's Mom a thinking of you card instead. See my challenge card A 2018 Valentine for Mom!here:

I went to the post office today to mail off Annie's card. Postage from US is $1.15 up to the first ounce. My card was thick and weighed more than an ounce...it was around $2.05 to the Netherlands. The postal worker also said the rate can differ depending on which country it's going to.
All cards/letters from USA to Canada are $1.15 up to two ounces. I sent a thick one off that will "tickle" someone in Canada.

Thank you Carlene for sending my mother a card she'll be so happy, I would like to be a little mouse to see her face!!
When I see this gallery filled with all these beautiful cards for my dear mother I could cry...thank you so much everybody you've got a golden heart, all of you!!
Here's my card for Anita's mum, Bonjour, going to have to put it in a bubble pack but that's OK. Was just going to keep it flat but it was boring and it just grew
I have had so much fun today played all day and while the card is nothing like I usually do and I'm not sure I like it I certainly had fun doing it.
Jacqueline, I think that's weird that you were told the rates could vary depending on the country. We used to have national, European Union (which was a tricksy one because countries like Norway and Switzerland weren't included), and Rest of the World. Now we just have national for Ireland and Northern Ireland, and international for everywhere else, same rates for everywhere from Afghanistan to Zambia.

When we go camping in France, I always have to go and buy stamps because I usually bring birthday cards to post while I'm there .
Sabrina your card arrived and my Mother was so surprised to receive a card from somebody she doesn't know, she was very proud to receive a card from Ireland and such a pretty one, I could hear at her voice that she was very happy, I didn't tell her yet that she'll receive more...
