REQUEST AN E-MAIL CARD DRIVE REQUEST FOR A
FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER.

This is my story!

1. As you know, each Teapot Tuesday weekly challenge identifies a destination (recipient) for the cards made as a result of each challenge. Sometimes we simply don't have enough Tuesdays in a the month to identify all the people that could benefit by being showered with hand made cards of encouragement through the Teapot Tuesday Destination Station.

2. Many of the Teapotters have provided their email addresses and from time to time we have sent out an email card drive request in those cases where the Teapot Tuesday schedule for Destination Station does not allow a timely shower of cards to a person needing some encouragement or pick-me-up.

3. If you know someone you would like to request an email card drive request for, please post your request here and one of the Teapot Tuesday Challenge hostesses will contact you for the details.

I never know where to put some of my posts, but I think this is as good as any.
You may recall sending cards to my friend Betty Vanaatta. A little over a year ago we sent flower gardens to Betty who had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. At that time she was given about 6 months, but she has made it longer than that. She stopped chemo treatments a couple of months ago as they were making her so miserable. A few days ago she had another MRI showing that the tumor has grown. She has again opted against treatment, as she has been feeling so much better. But they are starting hospice, and the hospice nurse has made an initial visit.

Betty's birthday is Feb. 25 (I am thinking 65 or 66), and I thought some might with to send a card from your stash. Obviously, certain greetings are not appropriate. They have a strong faith and are as accepting of the situation as is possible - so a spiritual message is very appropriate.

This is the perfect place Dorothy. I will get a card out and I am sure Sheri will be sending this request out via email.....I am sad for you and your friend....thanks for letting us help make this birthday a good one despite the sad circumstances...

I have a friend who has MS and has now been diagnosed with lung cancer. She's been in and out of the hospital for a couple of weeks now and has had to have surgery twice to remove fluids from around her heart. She is now fighting off an infection and only then can she start the long struggle with chemo.

Her name is Suzie Parsons and she's very active in the community. She teaches pet safety classes to the local kids and even built and managed our local Community Animal Response Team (we set up a pet shelter next to human shelters for disaster evacuations). She teaches Pet First Aid and CPR and is a certified AKC judge.

This woman gives so much to our community and I would love to cheer her up with an avalanche of cards! Please let me know if we can include Suzie in one of our upcoming card drives.
