OK I take that back... my alien boy has the hiccups right now (at least that's what I he has) and that has got to be the cutest thing so far.

Hi Gals, just checking in.

I'm 12 weeks today and feeling pretty good (except for a brush with illness while Taylor was sick last week). Eating like a horse of course, but nothing exciting to report. I have an appointment next Wednesday morning so we'll see what the news is!

Congrats Christine!!

My little update: I had my intake appointment yesterday afternoon which is just where they take all the medical history and what not. Then I was able to have an ultrasound too, which was nice. Reassuring and made me feel better. The heartbeat was 141 bpm and our little "teddy graham" was measuring right on at 10 wks 2 days. I'm finally feeling a little better that things might work out this time!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

I wanted to share a breasfeeding experience, that may help any of you in the near future.

While waiting for your milk to come in and baby seems to be constantly eating or if milk comes in late and you want to supplement with formula, do it and not feel guilty. My sister in law shared a trick with me and the nurses were so helpful.
Supplement through a feeding tube while baby is on the breast. once they latch on the nurse slipped a tiny tiny tube into his mouth and syringed the formula in. Asher got filled up with what he wanted and latched on so much better after that. My milk came inthe next day and we were all so much happier.
Also the nurse suggested to use the same formula everytime. So if you ever plan on using formula, you want to use the same brand after that. Personally i don't think it would make a difference unless you switched to formula right awary or gave the baby a different kind at each feeding.

That is my tip and I jump of the soap box. Asher still doing reallyw ell went in for check up today he is now 8lbs 2 oz slowly gaining what he lost in the hospital.I was going to upload a pic but I can't figure out how to resize it. Does anyone have easy instructions for me? I'm a little computer illiterate

Christine - Yeah the tube at the breast thing, called supplemental nursing system, or SNS. We had to do that too

The picture uploading is difficult on this site...you'll have to re-size the pics on your computer before uploading...

So I will be 11 wks tomorrow....and I must really be pregnant...lol I was so tired this afternoon that after a two hour nap I still could barely drag my butt out of bed to go get some groceries and run a couple errands. Then I was checking out at Target and the mom and daughter (probably 7 o in front of me had the cutest little flip flops for the girl and I started practically tearing up over how darling the flip flops were and how I can't wait until Carly can actually keep flip flops on her feet. Sheesh!! lol I also bought a pregnancy journal and the "your pregnancy week by week" book this afternoon. It is feeling better to not feel "so" worried about miscarrying.... We were going to tell the kids tonight over dinner, but I totally spaced that our 8th grader has confirmation class that I have to to with him in about half an hour, so "too bad" I am not cooking tonight!! lol Guess we'll tell them tomorrow.

Lynn - I read on the baby thread that your little guy has been gassy.... Has anyone suggested figuring out if there is anything that you could cut out of your diet to see if that helps with the gas? I did give Carly those gas drops when she was little and they helped. But I have heard of people needing to cut dairy products or spicy foods out of their diets when nursing. Just a thought.

Kim- I have cut back on dairy a lot, and no spicy, so it can't really be the diet. I have found it's at the same times almost every day, usually 8am-10am and 6pm-11pm. So I think it's just the gas, maybe dare I say colic....

Thanks! I'm still bf, although not full time. He eats a lot of table food. I got my first cycle when he was 7 months, had three and then got preggers.

Kris, I was wondering how you were doing, haven't heard from you on the beautiful babies sleepless nights thread in a while. Yours will practically be irish twins. How far apart are your older two?

Paula, I am feeding jailyn solid foods, but when I said full-time, I meant no supplementing with formula and she rarely gets a bottle of pumped milk. I'm wondering if it's the bfing that is keeping AF away or my PCOS. I had very sporadic cycles the entire time I was TTC Jailyn.

Katie, I have been keeping up with this thread and the TTC thread although I don't post often and I couldn't believe that you found out around new years that you were preggo again because I seem to remember the first time was new years in paris if I'm not mistaken. But for some reason I was thinking that your elizabeth was 2 this past september.

I don't know if I'm ready yet to have another one. It's been quite an adjustment although I'm loving every minute of it. We are just getting to our busy season at work (and Jailyn comes to work with me every day) so I'm not sure how it will go. I don't think I could juggle two babies and all the job responsibilities at this time. Plus, we are moving this summer!

I am doing well, the third child and moving 2 months later threw me for a bit of a loop overall and cut down on my stamping and SCS time. I feel like I have a brief respite for a few weeks here until Megan arrives. Megan and James will be 11 months apart, Laura and Jack were 14 months apart. I say I've done it before, but there is just a lot more laundry this time around!

I think about you and the baby whenever I am in PA with the in laws, you aren't moving too far away, are you?

That's funny, Katie. We found out about this one on New Year's Eve. I really didn't even have an inkling I might be pregnant, but my conscience told me that I shouldn't get bombed on New Years Eve without testing first!! lol I'm due on the 14th of September. I have my first visit with my OB on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that.

So far so good ladies! 9 more weeks at the most and the boys are 3 lbs 3 oz and 3 lbs 11 oz. I have a full term baby already (if you add them both together that is. LOL) I am waiting on my glucose test results though, so hopefully that went well.

And I see I am not the next one due! That makes me so happy! Especially since we are no where near prepared for the boys to arrive yet.... I JUST got the crib up this past weekend, and still need to make an appointment with the police department to get my car seats in the car. It's scary to think that I could be going anytime now... but we really don't want NICU babies!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Hi everyone. I was on the TTC thread for a little while, not that TTC was a little while, actually it took us 4 years with one sad chemical preg. Well we found out we were preg just before Christmas and about three weeks ago we found out that we are having fraternal twins!!!! we are so overwhelmed with joy and happiness and fear and worries. I am 16 weeks today, feel pretty good, I've noticed a little swelling in my hands (my wedding ring is tight) so not sure if it is too soon for that but my feet are becoming something out of "Incredible Hulk" I mean they are swollen first thing in the morning! well maybe not overwhelmingly swollen but my shoes definately feel tight.
Has anyone had twins that could ppppplease share advice and or tips with me? I have been given alot of advice on pregnancy in general of course but would love to hear from moms with twins, especially the first few months.

Scrappychica - Yea!!!! and welcome!!!! That is such exciting news!!

I don't have any advice about the twins thing. The closest I've been to twins is my ex-SIL had them about a year ago. I know her words of advice to new mothers is at least you have no point of reference if twins are your first babies - a singleton will be a piece of cake in the future she says! lol

I can relate to the wedding ring being too tight already. I can usually get mine off in the shower and I just need to figure out when I want to stop wearing it! My DH got me a nice chain to wear it on when I was pregnant with Carly - but I wasn't all that good about that.....

scrappychica - congrats on the twins! I was on the TTC thread and the Cankles thread too!
Anyway I have 7 1/2 mo old twins. I did fine my whole pregnancy until the last 5 weeks. I was in and out of the hospital every couple of days but I was never put officially on bed rest.
Swelling will get worse the more you are on your feet. If I was up and doing too much my feet were huge the next day. It gets worse the bigger you are and during the summer. But my SIL had twins 10 weeks after me and didn't have much of a swelling problem so who knows!
There is a great group of twin mommies over at www.twinmagazine.com. Go to the message boards and you can sign up under pregnancy in the month you are due. The girls are great and you will learn lots thru them.
You can pm me anytime you like and I'll help you however I can.
Again Congrats - twins are the best! It is so cute when they are interacting with each other and will smile just seeing the other one. Melts my heart every day.

Sorry I can't help with the swelling. My pregnancy is actually the opposite, I am losing weight to the boys and have no swelling at all. So far at least... I have 9 weeks to go.

There are also great twins groups at babycenter.com and some even on yahoo groups. You just need to search for them and don't be afraid to ask questions. Other than that, I can't give you any advice since my boys are not here yet. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy! And be aware that you are going to get big. I get comments daily now about my belly... most people are afraid if I move too fast I will go into labor... it gets kinda annoying after a while.

Hey all - happy Monday! lol My butt is dragging bad from the time change!

So we were at a fundraiser event for our church Saturday night and one of the couples sitting with us brought their one month old baby because Mom is nursing and oh my word - it was SO funny watching my DH! He has baby fever bad!!! lol September is going to be an eternity away!

I got out all my maternity clothes this weekend. And put away all my normal jeans and a bunch of stuff that I know I won't be able to wear this summer. Since I work from home with the daycare, I don't mind wearing t-shirts and stuff that I have, but the jeans had to go!!

My first appointment seeing my doctor was on Friday and went fine. He's like nothing is 100%, but I should be able to breathe a little easier since I've made it this far, etc. I am 13wks today and we've had 3 ultrasounds - so I think I'm (mostly!) over being a nervous wreck! Now I'm just ready to get fat in the right places!! lol This kid growing has basically pushed my muffin top up above my belly button, so I look pregnant, but ugh, not in the right place for being how far along I am!!! lol

Have a great week, everyone!
