A very new Noobie!

Hello Everyone!

I am VERY new to the stamping world and of course this forum.

My hubby got me a Cricut Explore air for Christmas and two stamps, so I am still learning how to make everything work.

We live in rural Ohio, so there aren't any classes for this of sort artwork near me. So to help me get started I am reading copious amount of information on numerous forms. I also spend a lot of time looking at all the papers, stamps and inks that are available online. I have to say, it's a bit overwhelming and there are so many different types of inks and SO many stamps available, it's hard to know where to start!

I use to be a woodcarver and landscape painter, but due to some disabilities, I no longer have the strength to carve or the mobility to get outside. Therefore, I am looking for other activities to keep my brain engaged and my spirits high. I feel this new area of crafting will be exactly what I need!

From the posts I have read so far, this forum is a great place to learn and share!

Hi EchoK and welcome from New Zealand! It can be overhelming, the choice of stamps, embossing folders, ink types! Start by getting the designs and images you are really drawn to. Oh, EchoK, what a great introduction and a wonderful Christmas gift from your hubby! It's a start, and I know there are lots of resources here to get your started. It sounds like you are very artistic, so you have it in you to create. I think Clean and Simple (CAS) is a great place to start. Think easy and just start to make one thing. And don't be afraid to ask questions - we've all started from the beginning ourselves and have learned so much here on SCS. It's a warm and friendly place to be and filled with lots of encouragement. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I have managed to make a couple of box cards with the Cricut, and they didn't turn out too bad. There is always room for improvement and with experience, things will be quicker and easier!
