using multiple colors on a stamp

I have a flower stamp that I want to color the flower one color and the stem another. Is there a way to do that other than using ink pens? I remember a technique using post-it-notes, but can't remember how to do it. Any suggestions?

Using a post-it note works well to omit part of a stamp image. Lay the post-it over the part you don't want to stamp, ink the stamp, remove the post-it and stamp in the paper. I can't think how post-its would work for a multicolor stamp as the previously inked portions would come off on the post-it when you covered it. Markers work the best for me if you want to stamp once and get multiple colors.

If you have a stamp postitioner like the SAMJ, you can ink the stamp with the flower colour and then use a damp Q-tip to remove the colour from the stem. Stamp, thoroughly clean stamp and then ink the stem area with the green, again using a Q-tip to remove any that has got onto the flower part. I've done this very sucessfully with stamps like the tree from Thoughts and Prayers.
If you check the tutorials on Masking in Resources you'll see how to use post-its to mask off a whole image, you can also do this with just part of an image - but whether you can use that technique or not will depend on how the stem is positioned relative to the flower.
