Talking Newbie!

Hey everyone! I am so excited about this site! I never was into scrapping and now I can't wait to get started. I am working on making a scrap book in memory of my grandfather. Right now I am just gathering things. I really dont know where to start. If anyone has any tips I would love them!

My name is Melissa and I am in Tucson, AZ. We just moved here last April from Harrisburg PA. I am married to Chris and we have a son named Logan. He is 2.

I am looking forward to making some great friends!

Happy Scrapping!
Melissa

Smile Thanks!

Since we live so far away I wasn't able to fly home for the funeral. It's really hard to get over this. So I think doing the scrapbook will be best!

Hi Melissa from southwestern PA!
I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather and a memory album is the nicest way to remember the good memories and not the sad ones!
My best tip to get started is to gather the photos and go from there. You sort of have to let the person and their interests dictate where you start. For example, I have started an album honoring my late father in law. He was a pretty big local football star in the 40's--I bought the SU set Rough and Tumble a few years back specifically for this. It is an old fashioned football stamp set and is perfect!
I also think that you have to choose the colors by the photos as well. For a man's album, I usually go for neutrals, browns, greens, dark blues and burgandy! Hope this information is not too confusing!!!!!!
Browse the Gallery and you'll be sure to come up with some great ideas! Karen

Hey there! Thanks for the tips. I have been getting some stuff. So far I have rub ons that are family related. I got some gold cardstock to us for the 50th wedding anniversary pics that I have as well. I have some pics but I am waiting on more. My grandfather was in the air force so I got some stickers that are related to that. His favorite colors were blue and green so I am doing all different shades and designs with those colors. I want to be able to find the right stamps and still haven't gotten any.

Melissa
