Faux embossing verses dry embossing

I know how to do dry embossing but what is faux embossing. It looks like someone used the heartfealt thanks wheek to do embossing with and a comments was posted I like your faux embossing.

Hi Laurie,

Faux embossing is basically punching or die-cutting out shapes and layering them onto cardstock of the same color.
