Smile Newbie with questions

Hi, my name is Susan and thank you for letting me join your community.I am an Australian and wonder are there others here also?

Crafting is something I have wanted to do for a while and have drifted in and forced out for some reason or another. However, I think I may now be able to spend sometime crafting and I say crafting because I am not sure what I can do, what I like doing and what I am reasonable at.

I have some questions about card making and the gsm weight of card stock and paper and I have no idea where to ask these questions, but I am sure I will figure that out at sometime

We have plenty of Australians here! There are so many different time zones that there's always someone around .
Probably the best place to ask about stuff is either in the tools and products section (Forums at Splitcoaststampers) or in the General Stamping Talk area.

Metric weights are quite different to the American system, but as they're also what we use here in Europe, you'll find plenty of people able to chime in with help and advice.

Here is a conversion chart I found. It says cover stock is equal to card stock.

US to International Paper Weights - Equivalent Weights & Conversions

As to what you are good at...just give it a go and see...you only fail if you never try. Do you have stamps and ink? If so check out tutorials for making cards on youtube. You don't have to have the exact stamp, ink or paper...you will get the idea of how it all works. There are tutorials here at SCS for different techniques and types of cards. You just have to follow along. Happy stamping!

Hi and welcome!
We do indeed have a number of your compatriots here! Heck, you might meet one that is close by to you!

This is a huge reference opportunity. We have the tutorials, if you do a search on the boards like "paper weights" you will run into threads talking about it.

There are SO many different things one can do. I have no doubt that as you try them you will find a number that you can do and like.

You can help yourself out by starting maybe with sketch designs....where someone else has created a layout for you and you just plug in elements-you dont have to have the exact same colors or papers or whatever and you can move bits around to suit yourself. You can google those by the hundreds on You tube.

You Tube is your friend. Just ask "how do i do X?" and it will show tons of stuff! I am visual so I love the vids.

Look at the tools and supplies threads and feel free to ask any question you need to. NO dumb questions here! Do a search about beginner supplies...

See you around!
