Default Looking forward to make cards for the troops!

I just joined this forum and am looking forward to reading the posts.

I work for a large nonprofit called Operation Gratitude who needs cards for the troops to use to write home and I decided to take up card making to support those who serve. While I am pretty good at stamping, I want to learn other things as well!!

Welcome!
That is a very worthy cause.

I used to follow Sandy Allnock and Operation Write Home. In the 8 years she did it, 2.5 million cards were mailed out to the troops so that is proof that we don't need a ton of people to accomplish a lot. Of course it became her full time job...so if people are doing a few hours a week then sure they will need a lot of people. There may still be vids of her sorting in her home. She also did opening days where she opened the packages and showed the cards coming in.

There is a forum called Cards for a Cause you could post on and let people see a website link and explain the operation...like if people can just donate money to help cover postage etc.

Sandy's sketches (some couple hundred) are still on the net if you want to point them out to people...I doubt she would mind since it is for the same cause. Just google Operation write home.

Default Thanks for the info!

Thank you so much for telling me about Cards for a Cause and I will reach out to them.

Currently, we will need more than 75,000 cards to finish out this year and nearly 300,000 more next year to put at least one in each care package that goes out the door!

I started stamping just because the need is so great, and with the holidays just around the corner, we need even more cards.

You can find the card program on the Operation Gratitude website. Since I am a new member, I can't actually post it here in my message but I am hoping you'll take the time to find it.

I look forward to your help and the help of those on this message board to thank those who serve
