Default introducing myself ...

Hi. My name is Jessie and my moniker is Sparkles ... for many years I signed myself as Jessie/Sparkles, but after a while it just became Jessie Sparkles.

I have been stamping for 20 years and for the last 5 have been tutoring card making at 2 local prisons where I go 4 days a week. The women love it and are very proud of what they make. I'm getting really wonderful results from them ...they're learning to share, to help one another, to listen (because I'm deaf and cannot hear myself think when they are all talking)

I donate everything which helps me to reduce my stash...but also encourages me to spend ever more money on stamping supplies. A local scrapbook shop donates some papers to me and a couple of years ago, I finally relented and purchased a die cutter and some dies. The prisons have now purchased 4 that they keep onsite.

I like to come here to see ideas that other (younger) people have thought up. The prisoners like simple stamping ... Whipper Snapper Designs, some Stampin Up (I don't have many of these) Flowers, Hearts, Butterflies and children, some cute animals ...

So, have rambled more than enough. Anyway, that's me and hoping to become a more active member from now on - hopefully I will bring another perspective to the group ... all the way from the bottom of the world in New Zealand!

Hi, Jessie! Welcome to SCS. It is a great place to gain inspiration and make world-wide stamping friends!!

Your prison tutoring sounds awesome!! My sister in involved in prison ministry here in Texas, but they are not allowed to do the kinds of crafty things you are doing!! I know the women must love it!

Hi! Welcome from NYC! We are indeed an international group.

That sounds amazing and very rewarding for you.

I find the gallery to be just such a gift. I sit down with a cup (or several) of tea and just gaze in admiration at the work of my fellows here. I am inspired to try new techniques and admittedly at times to buy things. When I am feeling low it soothes me.

Can you do digi? I cant but it clearly opens up a whole world of images for far less money-which might be great for you to bring to the prisons.

If they have big shots, they could also do embossing folders right? That is simple and can be very elegant and EFs are often not terribly expensive.

I hope you post pictures in the gallery of the cards you all make!

See you around the boards!
