Heart Hi I'm a newbie

Hi

My name is Kathrine and I'm new to this site and new to stamping. I've been lurking around and admiring all the wonderful creations and decided I want to get started stamping.

I have created invitations in the past for friends/family and love any and everything paper.

I look forward to start creating hand made cards using stamps.

I do need a little advice. I have not purchased any supplies to start creating or stamping, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should purchase first, besides paper. I wish there were beginner kits for new stampers that include everything a new stamper needs.

Thanks
Kathrine

Hi Kathrine!

Welcome to Splitcoast - you will love it here! I can't wait to see your cards.

You need to buy everything! LOL.

You might want to post that question in our General Stamping Talk Forum, where you will get better advice than buy everything I promise

Please let me know if I can help you with anything.

Welcome Kathrine !

Lydia hit the nail on the head with saying you need to buy everything...lol...

When I started with card making and other paper crafts I was overwhelmed and didn't really had a plan what to get first ( even so I did some research ) and of course there have been some purchases which turned out not to be what I really needed at that time.

One "advice" I can pass on is... to be a little bit more patient sometimes and aloud yourself time to rethink a bigger purchase.

And here on SCS you'll find tons of information that is very helpful.

Happy crafting !

Welcome, Newbies! What to buy, what to buy....LOL! Squishy (made by Marvy, I think) scissors for paper (or Cutterbees), ribbon scissors, Tonic scissors to cut heavy duty stuff, paper cutter (6" with an arm that swings out for longer paper), stamp scrubber such as Stampin Up's because it's big and double sided, Scor-Pal or Scor-Buddy, Memento and VersaFine black and brown full size ink pads, VersaMark ink pad, adhesive eraser, foam pad or paper pad to stamp on top of, Pentel Clic Eraser, ATG gun and adhesive refills, ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever, Stampin Up dimensionals, various sizes of glue dots, 80-110 lb. white and cream card stock, Stampin Up acrylic blocks, and lots and lots of clear and cling stamps! That's ONLY the starter stuff...then WATCH OUT! You will need a BIG craft room once you get sucked into this cult...I mean, CRAFT!

Enjoy browsing through SCS because there are lots of ideas here! Just ask and we are happy to offer suggestions!

I'm NEW, looking to acquire my first pen collection. I was thinking to purchase 8-10 pens, but having difficulty deciding which is best. MY consultant for stampin' up is suggesting that it's cheaper and less frustrating to buy entire collection of 108 pens. Which have you found to me most practical?

Hi Katherine and welcome from New Zealand! How are you going with your craft purchases? I have been stamping for over 10 years (and still loving it!) so am happy to answer any questions on stamping, stamps or ink.

Hi stampingrl43, I started with a cheap set of water soluble markers from a stationery shop to see if I liked using them. I personally don't find it that important to have the same colour marker as paper and ink pad so I have bought single markers of different brands from different shops over the years getting the colours I found I was using the most.
