Smile Crafty Resolution

Hello. I'm not a new member, but it's been far too long since I logged in. I haven't been very crafty this year (it was a tough year) and I made a New Year's Resolution to be crafty all year in 2012

I really enjoy making cards, but I don't have many people to send or give them to. I have never made a scrapbook before, but I want to work on some larger projects that will keep me crafting for a long time.

Anyhow, I visit this forum mainly to learn, but I hope to get better acquainted with other members in time

Drop your lovely homemade cards at nursing home front desks-----maybe donate a few stamps-----people will love sending them out!

I give alot to churches in my area, too. Donate, and it allows people to send thanks, gratitude, a birthday card to someone they care about.

It gives you the ability to make them and enjoy the hobby, and others will then enjoy the beauty of your work, too!

Donating cards is great. Earlier in December I signed on for a project making some card kits for patients in a treatment center. The kits will have a get well card with a theme, some thank you cards, and blank cards with assorted paper, ribbons, and embellishments to make a few cards (for beginners). In January I'll be working on three of these kits for college aged females.

Great ideas! I forgot about treatment centers. One gal in our Card Club is going through breast cancer treatment. We put together paks of (5) thank you cards; she dropped them at a specific area in the treatment center where breast cancer patients could take them, free of charge, to send out thank you's to people who were helping them through treatment. She stated, "PATIENTS LOVED THEM!!!" Our generous stack of (5)'s went quickly, and we've replenshished a few times.

Just another idea...........!

Good luck! Sounds like you are off and running!!!

I love those ideas I'm really excited to work on the card kits project. After that, it'll be time to switch gears and make Valentines.

Anyways, as part of my New Year's Resolution, I'm going to tidy and organize my crafting area today. I don't do that often enough... *blushes*

Hi and welcome from New Zealand! That is great you are making 2012 a crafty year and I like those ideas for donating cards from Joanne.

One last idea. I, too, make a ton of cards. I donated a large basket to the office of our church and continue to refill it. Whoever (employees of our church, or a parish member or whoever----no one cares!)---needs a card to send to someone else in the church for a kind deed, they can grab one and sign away.

If you desire, you can work out with your tax person a small donation fee for the cards left.

PEOPLE LOVE THEM and I'm constantly being asked (nicely!) "would you be willing to refill the basket?"

I think giving a "real" card is making a come-back! Handmade always really appreciated as well!!!
