Default Chalk pads vs. Regular pigment pads

Does anyone know the difference between chalk ink pads and regular craft (aka pigment) pads? Can you emboss with chalk inks?

I have not tried to emboss with the chalk pads.
The chalk pad dry much much faster than craft pads!

THe chalk pads are like a cross between dye ink and pigment ink:they look like pigment ink, but act like dye ink. I don't think they can be embossed because they dry really fast. But they are really fun, and look great!

I just got a set of chalk pads as a gift. What is the best way to use them?
