We would do 20-30 cards at a time (themes....... one swap might be all blue, one might be Christmas, etc), we also did tiles (only 4 at a time because of the weight of them), recipe cards, candles etc etc etc.
If you are looking for card swaps, check out the section in the forum for that, and watch for Canadian ones. Card Swaps Forum - Holiday, Birthday & More Card Swaps
I've participated in a few with Sama who is in Canada and I'd recommend her swaps to you, they are the best!

Smile SCS "Newbie," sort of :D

Hey, all! I'm Michelle, & I was on SCS a few years ago as "Northword." I'd originally joined when I was living up in Inuvik, but now I'm back in my home region of BC's Fraser Valley. Currently I'm living in Agassiz, but I'm planning on moving to Chilliwack or Abbotsford in 2011. More social & better work opportunities in those two cities, & there's nothing holding me here in Agassiz. I like this town, but, as I said, nothing's here for me.

As for my stamping history, I've had spurts of really being into it, & I keep meaning to get back into it. I have supplies & will be getting more from my sis-in-law in a bit, but for the past while, I've not really done any at all. I love making cards & being creative, & I want to use cardmaking & doing other crafts as a way of keeping my hands busy in an effort to keep from eating indiscriminately. I find busy hands = less opportunities for eating randomly, mainly because I don't want to get my crafts mucked up, & because I'm not bored.

I returned to SCS in order to regain inspiration & to be part of a group that I've had fun with in the past. I know that being here will help me keep up with crafting, & I'm looking forward to this.

I am on Vancouver Island, near Victoria. I need to stamp more as I do have a collection of stamps - but I am (lazy?) intimidated about the colouring. I will b e at PE Crop on Feb 19th - will you be there?

Hullo all from Dawson City, Yukon Territories. Originally from southern Manitoba. Spent a year at school in Saskatchewan and then five years living in southern Alberta.
Anyone else here from the territories?

Hi fellow Canadian stampers! Happy New Year! Murielle here from Fredericton, NB. I've been "surfing" the Splitcoast site for about 2 years now, and LOVE it. Finally joined up as a member today and uploaded my first card. woohoo!! Look for it in the Easel cards. This site is better than any magazine for inspiration and resources. Welcome to those after me.

Gwen, I lived in the NWT twice - once when I was a little girl, before Coppermine became Kugluktuk & part of Nunavut, & then as an adult in Inuvik. This latter period was from March 2004 to September 2006. I loved it there, but Inuvik was too isolated for me. I wouldn't mind moving up to Whitehorse sometime, even for a brief period. When I was previously a member of SCS, I was up in Inuvik.

Michelle, wow! someone who actually knows where I live. Inuvik is just "up the road" from us. Dawson isn't quite as far away from civilization as Inuvik(only 6 hours to Whitehorse) and we still have trees. You know you've been in the north too long when a you plan to just "run down to Whitehorse for the day and come back" in the same day and think this is normal.

Hi Fellow Canadians.

I am in Toronto and enjoying stamping very much. I make a lot of cards and plan to use the skills I have acquired to apply to a photo album.
Have joined a card club that is based in the city. It really helps to get ideas that don't always involve expense plus it is wonderful to learn and share with others. Actually this site provides a lot of the same type of info and support. This group has helped me to find some wonderful Canadian suppliers too.

So stamp on and keep enjoying!

I admire everybody who is able to live so far north. How do you cope with the cold? I'm freezing when it's -10C here (Southern Ontario)

Lots and lots of layers! It's really not that bad. I grew up in southern Manitoba and the winters there felt colder than here. We have a dry cold and really no wind to speak of. In Manitoba it was always damp and windy and the cold went right through you.

Alicaz, Gwen's right. Layering's a huge key to doing well, or at least surviving, the cold.

Gwen, Inuvik has LOTS & lots of trees. They're shrunken & "drunken," due to the shorter growing seasons & to the way the permafrost allows them to grow, but there's definitely thick forest all around Inuvik. It's certainly not far away from treeless land, though. A 20 minute plane ride northeast, & you're in Tuk, where there are absolutely no trees. Mind you, it is that much further north & right on the coast of the Arctic Ocean.

Yeah, driving down to Whitehorse (which is, of course, a lot more than 6 hours from Inuvik ) was a big deal to us, too. Lovely drive, though.

Default Hello from Southern Ontario

Hi! Just saying hi from Burlington, Ontario. Glad to see so many Canadians on here. I have relatives in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Regina and BC (somewhere). Have lived in many places across Canada so am familiar with some of the smaller locations (Upsala, Ignace, Niverville . . .)

Look forward to checking out all the great info. Have been stamping for a few years now. Registered on SCS a number of years ago but always just looked. This participation stuff is even more addictive!

Definitely a small world. My parents actually live in St. Malo, MB (maybe 20 minutes from Niverville) but we have eaten at a Chinese food restaurant there when I go to visit!

The Golden Horseshoe is a term used to describe the area (generally speaking) from Niagara Falls to Oshawa, Ontario and includes many cities along that route, including Burlington and Toronto and many others). It is a well-known term (and truth-be-told I looked it up to make sure I was giving you accurate info)! I just knew it to kind of be 'Southern Ontario'. Geography lesson for all of us!

Nice to 'meet' everyone!

Golden Horseshoe is a horseshoe shaped, densely populated and industrial area around lake Ontario -contains approx 50% of Ontario's population.
