Default Adult coloring books Barnes and nonle

I have been in this store several times and have seen the lovely books that they have on coloring and was wondering if any of you have picked up a book and started coloring in them? did you use colored pencils, markers, ?

I would like to get a few, but not sure what medium to use on them.

thanks
Caroline

I haven't tried these books myself but know people who have and they tend to use coloured pencils. You could use markers but my concen would be that the ink would show through the other side.
Get one and have a go!

If you can check the book out before hand have a look to see if it's printed on both sides.
I have one that is printed just on the one side so it's good for use with markers but I also put a sheet of paper or cardstock in between so the markers don't leak through to the next page.
I have also photocopied pages from books so I didn't wreck the other side.

Try Amazon too...they have a lot of coloring books. I use Prisma color pencils. They seem a little smoother. Felt pens like Tombow work well too. Spectrum Noir Aqua works but it does warp the paper a little. It mostly smooths out if left under a semi heavy object like a book.

If you have a Dollar General store nearby, check for the adult/coloring books there. I saw a set reasonably priced with a book and colored pencils. It was near the toy section.

Michaels and hobby lobby sell them too. They usually have colored pencils next to them. People I know that use them will use the colored pencils.

I have an unlined journal book that I do doodling and zentangles in when I had to do chemo. I couldn't really take a craft project with me. I would draw and then I would use my art markers to color. What was nice is that there was this plastic page that I could pull out and use in between the page I was working on and the next page.

From what I could see the coloring pages in those books are thicker paper, but I would worry that they would bleed through with markers. I think color pencils would be the ideal coloring medium.

Costco has a few adult coloring books too. I picked one up for under $10. It's on my coffee table with a box of colored pencils. My daughter in law sat and colored during a recent visit.

Dover books online has always had a line of gorgeous adult coloring books. I usually use markers, so I learned early on to copy each page, so I could save the originals for reuse. They had some really pretty ones years ago with Art Nouveau designs & Art Deco. Currently, they have a lot of mandala designs. Coloring has always been calming for me.
