Hi all. Another newbie here. I actually joined some time ago, then real life happened and I'm just now getting back to it. I gotta say I'm finding it a little confusing navigating around, there's so much to see here! But I'm sure it just takes time and learning where everything is located. Hope to get to know all of you and share some great card making tips!

I'm interested in learning to make better cards and I just love all the examples here. Hoping to get some practice by using all the challenges available here.

I'm pretty new too. Each day I jump on for a few minutes (or more if I have any!) and sort of browse around. As an "older girl" (har, har!) and grandma, while I am looking at the chitchat and pix I sort of scan the horizon here for other ladies in my age category.
Happily, I do find other grandmas. In fact, when I hopped on this forum I saw a post by a lady named Sharan, holding her beautiful grandchild. It's fun to know younger gals but also nice to know my "peer group" is on board too! The bottom line is, you're never too old or too young to stamp! Cardmaking truly cuts across all age boundaries!
I have a big question. Some people have their blog or website addresses at the bottom of their messages, in colored print. I tried to do this myself and noticed that on the compose screen there are places you can select color or printstyles, etc. But when I do that, nothing happens. The print stays black and continues to look like the print in the message. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? : - )

Ive been crafting for years and years and years and never seem to have enough time to do all I want to do. Im working on learning the art of quilting now. We are making lap quilts for one of the the local nursing homes. My retired ministers wife is teaching us how to go about this. Ive always wanted to. Course there are a million things Ive always wanted to do/learn. I currently have been making cards for about 8 years now and someone steared me onto this site and I am in here looking all the time. I have three beautiful granddaughters, and work full time as a real estate appraiser and am currently studying to get my insurance license so I dont have a lot of time. I tell the family that card making is my therapy and so they have to give me time to do it. LOL

PelikanMom, welcome. I'm a newbie myself although I've been browsing a long time. You may want to try highlighting all the text before you click on the colour you want. Do this by either clicking and dragging the mouse across the text, or by clicking at the beginning of the phrase and holding down the shift key before clicking at the end of the phrase. Hope that helps.

Hi Leonie, Im a teacher too. Im 41 in a few days and this is my first year of teaching! Im not a SU demo though, I was thinking about it but realised that my studying needed to come first. I hope one day to join SU even if its just to get the 20% discount!

Experiment
Traceyjeanh, I just found your message, for which I thank you, and am about to try your suggestions for getting some color in my text! How exciting is this?
pelikanbeach.blogspot.com
Ooops, it's not turning color. Maybe if I post it, it will come out the other side blue? If not I will try your second suggestion. Here goes!

It worked!
Traceyjean, thank you so much! It really did work! It was black print on my computer but turned blue in transit. How's that for magic!
Thanks again!

Hello! I am new to SU also! I became a Demo about 2 1/2 months ago. I LOVE looking around, and have gotten tons of ideas from all the talented ladies here. Thank you so much for being a wonderful resource, my classes and workshops would not be the same without you!

New to SCS
Hi everyone, I have been a SU Demonstrator for 7+ years now (long enough that I've lost track of exactly how long it has been)! I initially did a lot of demonstrating, but have pretty much evolved into a "hobby" demonstrator and I'm really excited to have discovered SCS. I just finished grad school and have been working on my clinical fellowship in speech-language pathology this year, so now that it is summer, I finally have some time to explore all of the exciting stamping resources that are on the internet. I'm totally new to all of this though (message boards, etc.), so please forgive me if I mess up with the lingo & acronyms.

new addict to SCS
I accidentally discovered this site when I was searching for creative ways to use all the cigar boxes my dad gives me (I get the benefits from a nasty habit). I am addicted. I could scroll through the galleries for days and not get bored! I am so impressed and inspired by everyone and their beautiful work! i am hoping that this summer I'll even get to post some of my work here too!
Thanks for an incredible experience everytime I log in!

New to SCS
Hi All:
This is my first shot at posting to SCS after hearing all my stamping friends raving about what a great site this is.
I live in Maine, am married and close to retirement. Stamping and quilting are my passions and I have been told many times that THIS is the place to learn stamping techniques, so here I am.
Looking forward to getting acquainted with everyone.

I am new to Splitcoaststampers. I have been a stampin up demonstrator for about 5 or 6 years. I always come to SCS to look up stamps and samples. I have never uploaded anything. I would like to be able to do that. I am very interested in getting more involved on here. Thank you.

Welcome to the new members!
Stampingbeth, a great place to start would be the General Stamping forum, or Techniques. You can also see tutorials by clicking "resources" at the top right, then "techniques". Here is a direct link:
Techniques
Some of these are more basic, and some are more advanced. Just jump right in with those stamps and ink and play!
