Hi! I'm Lisa (aka. Lisabee) and I'm new to this kind of card making. I cannot scrapbook worth a dime, but I do like the scrap card making...I'm trying to learn how to take my cards up a level with new patterns, so I love checking out the tutorials and gallery!

It's rapidly becoming addicting...

Default I'm a new demonstrator

I'm still trying to get my business rolling. Right after I joined, my husband had some health problems (requiring surgery) so I put my SU business on the back burner. Now I am trying to cultivate new clients. The neighborhood we moved into is a retirement area; most of the women golf, quilt, play cards, or mahjong. Since I have moved in, I always make cards for new neighbors moving in, Christmas cards, thank you -- whatever. Everyone loves the cards and when I am introduced to people, I am introduced as "she's the one that makes the beautiful cards." That may help to encourage clients.

I've been doing this for five years now, plus one year as a customer before that. I get to going well, have a couple of great customers, then hit a slump. I know it's me not doing something right. I'm going to try sending cards for everything I do with the kids at school. I've encouraged my daughter's friends that are turning 18 to join me in the fun. My daughter turns 18 next year and can't wait to be her own demonstrator. I've told them I'll let them keep the 20% off of anything they sell, then when they sign up, they have their customer base right there. 18 year olds like to have money to put into their own hobby, lol. I'm now taking small projects to my son's baseball games to engage new customers. I'm promoting clubs and booking parties as ways to save on their own want lists. I'm doing lots of praying too.

I'm thinking of becoming a demonstrator but I just don't know about the start up costs and how much time I really will need to have. Any of you who do this I would loooove to hear more!

Hi Amera. If you're thinking of joining NOW is the time. Members that sign up in May 2008 will pay 20% less for their kit ($159 vs $199) PLUS a free Hodgepodge Hardware set. For me, I have a full time job and devote time as I WANT to Stampin' Up! I have a club that meets once a month and give maybe 2 classes a month. I know others that do more, which is definitely your call, but this is what works for me. I hope I've been a little help! GOOD LUCK!

The time is definitely now!

As far as how much time you need to devote, it depends on how much you want to put in. You could have one workshop per quarter to meet your minimums and nothing else, if you want. Or you could make a full business out of it.

Hello,

Becoming a demo isn't hard at all. You basically go by your schedule and incorporate the stamping inbetween.

I have 3 kids and a full time job, my relaxation is being able to stamp and create projects. I am starting off by having 1 class a month and wanting to start a stamp club. That alone will give me my quota for the quarter.

The way I see it and explain it is that I am not spending $5 on a card nor the gas to get to the store. I have what I need at home.

In the beginning it might feel overwhelming but once you get the hang of it and what works for you and your family you will do GREAT!

And it really helps to have an upline who is very supportive and just as excited as you are.

Hope this information helps you.

I am new to this, signed up as a demonstrator a little over a month ago. It's a slow start for me because I am busy with college classes, full time job, etc, but I did arrange to teach the kids in the afterschool program here about cardmaking and scrapbooking. Can't wait to start that and hope it leads to the parents becoming customers.
Right now there is a great deal to start - you are actually getting more for your money. You can spend as much or as little as you want after that. I took advantage of the 30% on first purchase and built up my cardstock, ink, and punches. Warning..........it is addicting!! I enjoy it though. So far, I am my best customer.

May is a good time to sign up Lawrie; there is a special that I wrote about earlier...the kit is 20% off ($159 vs $199) and you get a free set of HodgePodge Hardware. It's a great opportunity if you've been thinking about it.

I've been with them 1 year and I'm very happy!

Good Luck to you!!

Default New to SCS and need help

Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am new to SCS. I am having a hard time understanding how to use this website. I don't know if it is just me, but could someone help me understand. Everything that I have looked at is great but sometimes I just don't know where I am at and where I need to go. I just started stamping and I want to make cards and make up a baby book for my son and daughter. I just don't know where to start. If some one could point me in a direction that would be great. Thank you for the help

New to Splitcoast!
I really love the website, especially the galleries!
I started stamping and scrapping in February of this year, and have now made it my main hobby. I love to make cards, and get lots of ideas from the galleries and appreciate all that awesome talent out there!
I have made a good amount of cards, but as you can tell i have just gotten into it, but love it just as much as anyone!
I want to make my own signature stamp for the backs of my cards but don't know how to go about doing that yet. I don't just want to buy a pre-made stamp, I have an idea for my own if I can just figure out how to have it done.
I know I will love this craft forever!
So much fun!
I am not a demo/dealer--just a fun-loving person who loves to make cards!
Scrap-booking is in my future!

hi all I have been on this site for almost a year, but then lost my password for a couple of months but know back on and reading more. I am new to card make well I have been doing it for a year. I joined SU as a demonstrator last year in September and 3 months after I joined my up line stopped being a demonstrator. To all the new people that have joined SU as demonstrators and for those who are thinking of joining take this advice please make sure the person you sing up under really is in to SU and willing to help you. mine was not she sent me the papers to fill out by email and I sent them in myself . I do not know who my up line is since my up line quite, I was never contacted by anyone telling me they where my new up line. I mostly joined for the discount it is me and 2 friends that buy and make my quota for the quarter. I am happy with this and maybe someday get more people. I just wish that I had an up-line from the start to help me and support me .

I get a lot of ideas from this site and hope to be able someday to make cards as good as the ones I see here. Glad to be apart of this site.

A little about me
I am a stay at home mom, I have been married for 18 years, I have 6 kids,

Default Hi from CF in Iowa

Hi, I am a new SU demo. I just became one about a week ago. I have been coming to SCS for a while now as my daughter in law is a SU demo and had referred me to this site for ideas. I became a demo with her help. I am excited and still waiting on getting my starter kit. Patience is not a great virtue of mine, but you can't hurry up UPS or the USPS. So I wait, but once I do, watch out, cause I will be busy "playing" with all my new materials.

Smile New to stamping

Hi there.. New to Split Coast...
I am new to stamping. I got into it January of 2008 and I love it. I really enjoy making cards and giving them out. I made my holiday cards last year and that is what got me really into it. I came across this site and I love it.
A little about me. I have been married for 14 years and I am a mom to 2 wonderful children. Girl (8yrs) and Boy (soon to be 5). I work from home as a medical transcriptionist. I get my work done early in the mornings and have the rest of the day to play with stamps. I am a Brownie Girl Scout leader so I have stamped with my Brownies and they love it as well. I also decorate cakes on the side.
I have enjoyed looking at all the wonderful cards in the galleries. I am looking forward to making my own cards and posting them soon. I am open to any ideas.

Welcome!!
There is a great deal of information and resources available here. Lots of great people too!
I will be teaching stamping, card making, scrapbooking to a couple of aftershcool programs in the fall. If you have any ideas or words of advice, I'd love to hear from you.

So I wait, but once I do, watch out, cause I will be busy "playing" with all my new materials.
Welcome!

I moved from Iowa to Florida 10 years ago, but still miss Iowa. Care to share what part you call home?

I live in Cedar Falls, home of the UNI Panthers. Just 20 miles east of Parkersburg that was hit by a tornado last Sun. Where in Florida do you live? We have a god daughter who lives in St Cloud Fl. We come down about every other year to visit.

I believe they may have been discussing the cost of signing up to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator. SCS if free, no charges. Tons of information available.
Enjoy!!
