I have a better idea than listing all the abbreviations. Just spell out what you mean, so that everyone clearly understands. What's the reason to need to abbreviate anyway?? It's too confusing. Some of those things mean different things to different people.

I just sat down when the email notification came in. I just hated it when I first found this site and couldn't understand the lingo so I try to help the new members when I can.
My acronym challenged friend said DP stand for dumb people...who can't type a word! I liked that one!

I see TFS on gallery posts all the time. I'm glad I finally know what it means!! That should have been an easy one...now I feel silly!!

Really! I always thought it meant "Thanks for Stamping" and I would think, hmmmm isn't that why we are here?!
Now it makes more sense....although Thanks for Stamping works too!

Default Close to an acronym question??

Hi !
I'm fairly new to S.S. but can see already how addicting this will be; addicting in a fun way! I see these notes "I've been elfed" in postings. What does that mean?

You received one gift but past forward two.
If you wanted to surprise another SCS member with a gift these ladies were finding out the address for you to keep your identity a secret but in my case the postmark gave it away!

It would be easier for everyone who reads these threads if everyone would just spell out what they mean. Too many letter abbreviations that too many people have no clue what they mean.

Lots of people use these abbreviations and they will most likely continue to use them. I think it is fun to learn what they mean- you can reread this thread to see what most of the abbreviations mean. Splitcoast is supposed to be fun- lighten up and have a good time chatting, learning, and sharing ideas. JMO

Patty.....This whole site is fun, but most of all very informative with all the different ideas from so many people. My comment was not meant to be critical.

Let's close this particular issue now.

Question What about NVR?

I've seen NVR in swap information and I'm sure once someone tells me what it means, I'll have a "V8" moment (smack myself in the forehead) and say "duh...of course that's what it means!). Thanks in advance!

Default Acronyms/Abbreviations, etc.

And what does "TV" mean, besides television, of course!?!?!

I see stamp listings with "TV" following them, and even though I'm up on my text messaging, this is a new one to me.

BTW people (or peeps if you prefer): We must always keep in mind that people new to this website may not be versed in the terminology and acronyms/abbreviations. Over usage may alienate some people into not returning. It's akin to someone speaking French and trying to communicate in Spanish.

That would be our loss.

Since these are so confusing to so many - especially us "new-bies"....is it possible to list them as a link on the home page of SCS? Just a thought. Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Wow, is that denial? I went through withdrawl at Christmas. I was without computer, internet, and cable. Only get 4 channels and 3 of them are fuzzy. The nearest LSS is 60 minutes away. Torture, pure torture.

Now the truth is: I'm taking a break and playing games on the computer.
We have a few LSSs near us but the prices are very high and they seldom offer a coupon or discount. I feel for the store owners trying to compete with the chain stores and many of them don't last long.

Also wanted to say:

This is very true and I know a couple people that said it was to much for them to figure out. Ladies around seventy. So they bookmarked my gallery and that's all they look at here at SCS. I have a fan club! of two!

Question more acronyms

I've read through the thread and can't find some I'm curious about. I think some are small groups of SCSers who post challenges. I don't want to join -I'm just curious about the meaning of the letters they use.
How about CCEE, STEE, FJK3, OOGA?
Anyone know what they mean?

If they're using them in the keywords line it's challenges done by CC-challenges chasers, from blogs and other small groups that use SCS for a gathering place is the best way I know how to put it.

I don't blog so if I were to play a blog challenge I would have to use SCS to off my card. Hope that helps!

When a thread gets a post/comment left on it, that thread goes back to the top of the forum.

So people will just type in bump to let you know they are sending it back to the top. BTT also means the same.
