Recently moved to NYC - miss my stamping tribe back in MA

I am new to NYC, and am despairing of finding people who love to stamp and scrapbook here. I found one great store - THE INK PAD - in the West Village and they have classes but I miss my stamping tribe. I'm new to the online crafting community but am looking forward to finding new friends and inspiration in the stamping and scrapbooking world. Now if I could only figure out how to store my supplies......

Oh there are tons of New Yorkers here! Check out our Get it Together forum here: Get it Together! - Splitcoaststampers

And we're here for you! :)

Welcome!

CityGirlStamper 12-27-2017 04:39 PM

Thank you, Lydia. There doesn't seem to be anything around NYC at the moment but I will post when I am a bit more familiar with the group and site. It really is lonely without my stamping tribe.

snowcountry311 12-28-2017 05:17 PM

we met a new/local stamper-she just posted on FB.
we went straight to her house.love new stamping friends.plus i hate to think of someone being left out.
post on out CNY/WNY threads here.maybe someone will know of someone near you.
if you are close check the stamp store in the city
The ink pad.maybe through classes you could meet new friends.

Hi CityGirlStamper!

I'm in the NYC area -- I'm in NYC everyday for work. In fact, I just held a craft workshop at work for a charity event.

Welcome!

CityGirlStamper 12-29-2017 05:18 PM

Thanks for reaching out, Elizabeth. Let me know when you have events. I finally found the PATH train!

CityGirlStamper 12-29-2017 05:21 PM

That's what I would call a lucky newcomer. We used to live in Syracuse and I'm sure I'd find many stampers there. I will keep trying, and reach out to the CNY/WNY groups to see if anyone knows anyone downstate. Great idea.

Hoboken Paper 12-29-2017 10:20 PM

Also, just wanted to mention that Paper Source has craft classes. I keep meaning to try one out.

CityGirlStamper 01-01-2018 04:10 PM

I've tried classes at Paper Source but they were so very basic that I didn't enjoy myself. I've actually been thinking of applying for a job there and seeing if I could teach. My cards aren't particularly sophisticated but compared to what I saw there I am quite the stamper.

Scrapjanny 01-03-2018 08:13 AM

Hey, I'm from the Bronx, and I work in Manhattan every day! I used to work at the Ink Pad. I'd love to get together and stamp. PM me, and we can try to work something out. Welcome!

I feel your pain! I moved to FL and finally settled down in a new home. I so miss my stamping friends! I hope you find a fun group soon!

All the time! We're BFFs, and she's my daughter's godmother. :D

TeeGeeDee 01-03-2018 08:20 PM

I want to welcome CityGirlStamper to SCS and add that I'd love to get together with you and Scrapjanny (my BFF and the person directly responsible for my addiction to this hobby ... and I will forever be grateful!)

Happy Crafting!

Yes, Gayla! I am not sure that date will work for me but I am hopeful.

Just wanted to add that Heidi, Gayla and the "Road Trip Ladies" are also lots of fun and very talented. It's been too long since I've been able to attend one of their gatherings. Perhaps March will work out!

Happy Crafting!

Hey, Leah, where in Manhattan do you work? PM me. Maybe we can meet for lunch some day. I work near the Micheal's on 22nd St. and 6th Ave. Have you ever been there?

BeautyScraps 01-07-2018 11:18 AM

Has Heidi posted about the March meetup? I was looking for it in the get together forum. I'm hoping to be able to come this year!

snowcountry311 01-07-2018 11:26 AM

has set her date.but not posted her thread.

CityGirlStamper 01-09-2018 10:00 AM

Yes to a get together! I'm not sure who is who yet. How do we make this happen?

TeeGeeDee 01-09-2018 10:53 AM

Hi CityGirlStamper!

Heidi will be hosting a shoebox swap on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County), NY. The thread for this year's event is not yet posted. It will appear in the Get it Together forum (linked below):

Get it Together! - Splitcoaststampers

I believe she will have it at the same location, so I am sharing the link to last year's event:

https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/f...a-t615283.html

Remember, swap details will vary but it gives a better idea of what the event is like, as well as the fellow SCSers that might be there. There is a group (most located in Central NYS) that organize and travel to many shoebox swaps (SBS). Gayle (snowcountry311) is one of them. You will be able to find those threads in the Get it Together forum.

I hope this answers some questions.

Happy Crafting!

Sorry. Didn't realize that Paper Source was that basic. I've never taken a class myself, but a friend of mine took a class there. She's definitely a beginner : )

Hoboken Paper 01-13-2018 03:49 AM

If you all have a get together, I'd love to come. I'm super busy for work these days, but if things ever slow down I'd love to have you all over for a crafty session.

Scrapjanny 01-13-2018 05:00 AM

I'm planning something in the spring. I'm not sure where or on what specific date yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Hi all!
I'm so late to the game!! Late night surfing on my phone and I saw this thread! I'm here in the Bronx as well! I'm a SAHM with two little ones, but if you guys ever do a weekend meet up in the boroughs I'd love to tag along!

Gdoreen 04-30-2018 07:43 PM

Hi from Staten Island

I too am late to this thread. I live in Staten Island and work in downtown Manhattan. I would also love to find fellow stampers in the NYC area. :D

Best,
Doreen
