Default Another Newbie

I'm new here also. Have a couple of questions and not sure this is the right place to ask but, here goes.

What does the phrase under where a photo would go mean? (i.e. cardstock collector)? Does it have something to do with how many posts to make? Like at a certain "level" does that phrase change?

How do I keep track of the thread where I am asking these questions so I can come back to see if there are answers?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Check this quick link to Forums at SplitcoaststampersI think you'll find the answers to those questions in post #1.

At the top right corner of the thread you're reading, you'll find a "Quick Links" arrow. Click it, and you'll see a button for your 'Subscribed Threads'. Also, you should receive an email notice when there's a new comment on threads to which you are subscribed.

Hey Bev,

You're the BEST! Thanks so much for the very helpful information. I'm sure the more I get around in here, the more I'll learn. Again, thank you for taking time to reply.

Question New to forums

Hi,

I've never done this before. I would like some help on where to post my question: What card making supplies would you pack if you were flying to a place where you would be living for 2 months?

Hi JAM123!

I would post it as a new thread in So You Wanna Swap? forum.

People can try and answer you here too. You're going away for 2 months and you know you're going to be making some cards, right? I think it depends a little on where you're going...if there are stores nearby you won't have to bring cardstock and glue and patterned paper. It probably depends are how detailed you like your cards to be as well. You could go very basic. You may want to get precut and folded card stock, then you can just add your layers and stamps and embelishments. This would be hard because I'd want to bring everything! But it is only 2 months, so you'll have to wager just how much card making you'll be doing. I guess, if it were me...I'd bring one stamp set, markers, colored pencils, precut/folded CS, scissors, ribbon and glue...maybe throw in my eyelet tools as well. Hope this helps! Good luck in your travels!

I would first decide what cards I was going to be making, and then take appropriate stamps/paper/supplies to go with that. Ex Birthday cards, take those along, sympathy, etc. have fun, I am new at this myself!!

A 'thread' is a continued conversation, such as this 'thread' that you & I have now 'posted' within. Each separate member's comment in individual 'boxes' is a "post".

Hope this helps.

Hello to you, too. I'm sort of newbie also. Although I've been checking out what SCS has to offer for several months, I just recently checked out the forums so I know what you mean about your post ending up in the right spot. Yes, there is an amazing amount of talent out there and I can get spend hours in the galleries and tutorials admiring the creations of SCS members. One way you could enjoy the creations in person would be to join a swap. I just recently committed to a swap for the first time and, believe me, I'm a little nervous and intimidated but I'm going to give it my best and enjoy the process and, hopefully, learn a little along the way. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful!

Default Looking for ideas

Hi. I am going to convert a spare bedroom into a card making room for myself!! I am open for ideas for things such as cardstock storage, desk or table etc etc. I have been to Ikea a few times and like a black table (I love black) but not sure that it would be right for a craft room.

Please give me your ideas and I will appreciate them!!

Thanks!!

My craft room is a hodge podge of furniture.
I was given two hairdressing trolleys (10 drawer). I use one for my ink pads and all things sticky etc. THe other one contains my punches and tools. (I think they were originally from Ikea).
A really old desk from when my son had the room and some shelves to house my stamps.
Some of the ladies on here have amazing craft rooms!!

Default bumping....

I have done a couple searches on some threads, and I understand WHAT bumping is... but not HOW to do it....??

Appreciate either a pointer to the right place or an explanation.

thanx,
Chris

Hi Kitty,

The only thing it takes to "bump" a thread back to the top of the page is to post anything ... anything at all. That's why you see a lot of posts that just say 'bump'. Any post whatsoever moves the thread back to the top.

It's best used sparingly, as when the desired thread has moved on to the 2nd page or farther in the forum. That way, the thread doesn't fill up with just 'bumping' posts.

How observant! Yes, our signature area is limited.
We also ask each member to include no more than 2 off-site links in their signature. Thanks so much!

Hope this helps!

Hey Kitty, check out message #803 above. I tried to copy and paste the answer here but couldn't. Grannie gave me a link to refer to to see what all the "nick names" represent...it's all about how many posts you've made. Hope this helps!

I have a quick question. I completed a card for a color challenge, but it won't let me post the link to my card. My HTML code is off. It says I need 3 or more posts, and I think I have that now, but I still can't post my link. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Well, I'll be happy to try, Kitty!

Smile Hello for Central Maine

Hi all you Splitcoast Stampers. I have been registered for a while but had not left an introduction. I have been paper crafting since 2005 and boy have I made up for all those lost years. I love making cards and stamping as well as scrapbooking photos. I live outside Bangor, Maine and am a member of a local Stampin Up Club. Can't wait for the new catalog/idea book.

Just love some the info, ideas and challenges on this site. I would love to hear from other stampers in New England or any other coast. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am a transplant to Maine from Houston, Texas. I lived for many years in the FM 1960 and Jones Road area. Don't I miss Hobby Lobby. So any of your Gulf Coast stampers give me a shout. Karen

Welcome Karen!

I wish there were more hours in a day or have to work less!! More time for stamping, I have been stamping for about 10 years, but my in laws are better at it than I am. Takes too long for creative juices to flow, I think about cards to long instead of just doing. Just started scrapbooking so that is slow to...will hopefully have more time this winter, have 7 scrapbooks I want to put together for family, by Christmas??? yeah right - ENjoy I love SCS!

Sorry I never introduced myself!

I'm Cori & I've been scrapbooking for over 10 years... when the only scrapbooks available were the kind w/ the peel back sticker layer stuff. lol I've been stamping for about a year & 1/2... & love everything that is crafty!!! I do needlepoint, crocheting, sewing... I'm a young buck w/ no children! lol Guess this is why I can do all this, huh???
I'm currently in the process of getting all my ducks in a row to open my own business w/ a girlfriend in all occasion cards, invitations (all types), & favors.
Thanks!
