Default Hello everyone!

I've been reading the threads around here for a few weeks now, and I thought it was about time to officially join and say hello to everyone.

My name is Elle and I'm a wife and a mom to two very clever and creative kiddos. My torrid love affair with card-making started about two and a half years ago, when I decided to create hand-made cards for Christmas. It's a tradition for me to try and make something unique and hand-made each Christmas and cards sounded like a fun idea. That's when I naively jumped down the rabbit hole, way, way down. Since then, card-making's become a true passion and one of my only hobbies.

I love patterned paper (it never fails to inspire me), coloring with my Copics and I'm currently working on using up the mountain of treasures I've collected in my crafty stash. I've put myself on a spending freeze so I can actually make use of all the stamps I've collected over the past 2 years.

My card style tends to be relatively clean and simple, though not always minimalist. I'm drawn to bright colors and cute or whimsical images, with a more modern flair (though I love the aesthetic of vintage, I just can't pull it off on cards). I can't pick a favorite stamp or paper company, but I do have a few stamp illustrators whose work I follow closely.

I try to blog about my creations on a somewhat regular basis, and I occasionally share cards from my blog to Facebook and Flickr.

It's great to be here and I hope to get to know you all better!

Welcome to SCS! It sounds like you are having a wonderful time with this hobby. Me, too! And this forum is the best place to come for inspiration and encouragement.

I also use bright colors and love whimsical images on my cards. My current favorite images are from a company called Katzelkraft. I have a set of wonderful cats and also the ones with dogs. Here is a link if you're interested:

I'm looking forward to seeing the cards you make from these adorable stamps. The kitty ones look just like your avatar which I love.

Hi Elle, I haven't tried whimsical yet but after Bugga's post and the fact that you like it too, now I'm inspired. Welcome to SCS, it's the best!

Thank you, Dorie. My avatar is a card that was drawn for me by one of my granddaughters when she was only 6 years old! She is now 16 and very artistic and talented. I treasure the original picture and use it for my avatar on all the sites I go to.

Here is a card with the Katzelkraft stamps:

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Those two stamp sets are definitely going on my must-get list for when I'm off the spending freeze. Thank you for sharing them Bugga! And thank you for sharing the sweet story about your avatar. It looks just lovely.

I can't wait to see your journey into the whimsical, Dorie! I bet it'll be fun.
