Palette icon Back after long break!

Hi everyone!! I'm back after a long break while my kiddos were little. I am a former SU! demonstrator (2005-200, and now that my kids are older I'm finding a little more time to get crafting again! I also now have two sweet girls that enjoy crafting alongside me rather than getting into glitter. They are 13.5 and 12.

My break also included a massive move from SC---->TX 3 years ago, and I've finally worked through all the boxes of my craft supplies and everything is set up and organized.

I feel VERY out of the loop on what's new and the latest and greatest!!
SO, tell me- what's your absolute favorite thing that's on the market today?

Welcome back! I love hearing there is a new stamping generation coming up in your home!
I would say the chatter right now is slimline products-there is a post for that in general and the new distress ink colors arriving.

In the time frame you have been gone the BIG thing to hit was the misti stamping platform. There are now other variations of it. And the Distress Oxide inks. Same colors, different properties.

Well welcome to Texas!

I agree with wavejumper's list, and I'd add watercolor, which is my obsession

Stacy,

It is so much fun to work with preteens/teens with stamping!  This summer my 15 year old granddaughter and I got over 20 cards done in a day. I agree with Lydia about the watercoloring.  I love to use the ink refills to create the colors I envision for the project.  I've been making some pretty neat card backgrounds using a shaving cream and ink mixtures, too.

Have fun!

Hi Stacy, (Funny ,my avatar use to be homeschmomof4!)
Welcome back and happy to meet you. I am back as well just today.
I am enjoying my Misti stamping tool the most. If you do a lot of stamping its
a great tool to have in your arsenal.

My girls love using shaving cream and ink!! It creates such cool backgrounds!!
I have some SU! refills, I'll have to try mixing the colors- I've never done that before!

Thanks!!  I have Distress Oxide inks. Mini ones, but I love them! I'm still adjusting to those different properties in the way that I stamp, though! I'll look into the Misti Stamping Platform- haven't heard of it!

I feel ya, Stacy...although my break wasn't exactly for my children, I know what it is like to have to set things aside for a while.  I was a SU! demonstrator for a few years as well...the first demonstration I attended had me hooked.  I think I signed up that night or very shortly after.  Was it very difficult for you to find your groove again?  I'm finding I have to CASE a lot of stuff and go to the technique pages to remember what I used to know lol.

My youngest, now almost 14, is also starting to find interest in stamping and card making.  It's a lot of fun to show her how to do things and see her come up with new ways and ideas.
