Default Luminiere

I have used it, just this morning actually!!! I mixed a little bit of it with a little bit of Pearl Ex and it is gorgeous!! I painted it on the image with a watercolor brush. It looks just like Twinkling H2Os!!!

Patti

P.S. A little of each goes a long way!!!

I have some of this and the Pearlex too, maybe one day I'll be able to use it. Thanks for the links.

Default lumiere

I have used Lumiere with reinkers and Pearl Ex when I want to paint on window sheets. If I want a bold look, I use reinkers. If I want a subtle look, I use pearl Ex. I stamp the image with Staz On firt on a window sheet. Then I pour some Lumiere into an empty embossing powder bottle or any small container with a lid, put drops of a reinker into the bottle. It will be light, since you are mixing it with white paint. Just keep adding drops of reinker till you get the color tint you want. Then use a watercolor brush to paint right on the image. It takes a little while to dry, but you can speed up the process by using your heat gun a little bit.
I liked mixing it with pearl ex and the effect reminded me of mother of pearl. Have fun and hope this helps. :-) Kim

I love Lumiere! My favorite way to use it is painting butterflies, particularly painting on the back of embossed vellum.

One sample (of several with the technique) can be found in my gallery:

The dual toned colors in green/blues are beautiful on dragonfiles, the rose-golds on butterflies. Can always add Pearl-Ex in there if you want to change the color a bit - they are made for each other!

Default *LOVE* Lumiere!

Okay....here are a few tips about using Lumiere that nobody tells you....

First off, shake the bottle until you think your arm is going to fall off! That is no joke - you need to shake that sludge for a good 5 minutes or so because even though it doesn't appear to have separated, it **REALLY HAS BECOME SLUDGE!** There is a great deal very thin, watery, highly pearlescent material that appears easy to work with, but isn't because it dries too quickly (high alcohol concentration.) Then there is the "sludge" at the bottom, which I'd venture to guess is the settled gum arabic and thickeners and aren't quite as pearized. If it isn't properly mixed, you can do *nothing* with this sludge except spread it around on a plate with a spoon while talking on the telephone... Seriously though, shake it until you think your arm is going to fall off.........

Once you've properly mixed Lumiere, feel free to do anything with it. One of my fave techs with it is to first coat a stamp with Versamark. Next, use a sponge to apply Lumiere to the entire stamp. Stamp your image onto black c/s. Ink up a brayer either in rainbow colors or your fave solid, and brayer over the Lumiere until it takes the colors. Cut and mount your image! BTW - the Versamark helps to get the Lumiere off of your stamp.... (Thanks to Nikki Brandt for teaching me this awesome! tech!!)

Also love to mix it with reinkers and with Walnut Ink to create backgrounds...love to use it as a base for Poppin' Pastels...love to use it as an acrylic paint on T-shirts...
