*LOVE* Lumiere!
Okay....here are a few tips about using Lumiere that nobody tells you....
First off, shake the bottle until you think your arm is going to fall off! That is no joke - you need to shake that sludge for a good 5 minutes or so because even though it doesn't appear to have separated, it **REALLY HAS BECOME SLUDGE!** There is a great deal very thin, watery, highly pearlescent material that appears easy to work with, but isn't because it dries too quickly (high alcohol concentration.) Then there is the "sludge" at the bottom, which I'd venture to guess is the settled gum arabic and thickeners and aren't quite as pearized. If it isn't properly mixed, you can do *nothing* with this sludge except spread it around on a plate with a spoon while talking on the telephone... Seriously though, shake it until you think your arm is going to fall off.........
Once you've properly mixed Lumiere, feel free to do anything with it. One of my fave techs with it is to first coat a stamp with Versamark. Next, use a sponge to apply Lumiere to the entire stamp. Stamp your image onto black c/s. Ink up a brayer either in rainbow colors or your fave solid, and brayer over the Lumiere until it takes the colors. Cut and mount your image! BTW - the Versamark helps to get the Lumiere off of your stamp.... (Thanks to Nikki Brandt for teaching me this awesome! tech!!)
Also love to mix it with reinkers and with Walnut Ink to create backgrounds...love to use it as a base for Poppin' Pastels...love to use it as an acrylic paint on T-shirts...
