blotchy stamp images

Hi everyone, I have just invested in a lot of Stampin up ink pads. Today I decided to have a go at making a card using stamped flower images and their corresponding dies. Some of the ink pads seem to foam up when I ink my rubber stamp and the image comes out very blotchy and uneven. I have tried cleaning my stamps again and even using versamark first to condition them.
Any suggestions please ::confused:

what kind of ink is it? dye or pigment? are the stamps rubber or clear?
(those kinds of things make a difference) and also what paper you are stamping the type of ink onto.

Hi, Susie, I have some of the new SU ink pads and have had some problems with the "spongy" pads that SU has now been using. I know what you mean, and it's been frustrating for me as well. What I've learned (to some extent) is to not push the stamp into the ink pad too much, especially not as much to get it foaming. It shouldn't be doing that. I often will turn my stamp over and lightly tap the ink pad on it and then look at the stamp to see the coverage (in order to see whether it needs more tapping).
