My name is Veronica tho everyone calls me Vicki. I am married to Norm, and live near Portobello Market in Notting Hill, and I have a beautiful tabby point siamese cat called Katie - I love them both to bits... That is Norm and Katie ;)
I have just retired from special needs teaching, and decided to take up crafting to keep me out of trouble. I saw a programme on TV about Encaustic art and the use of stamping with it - and I was hooked big time. I now have all the kit.
The only problem is I keep getting friends asking me to make cards for them, and now a couple of local shops want samples, that I haven't even started on encaustic yet. I need the money so I can't turn down work. It is so frustrating - I want to make artistic cards for my own satisfaction but I am having to make commercial cards. I must find a way to combine the two.
I am an addicted stash collector too - OH says its like living in a warehouse  , although he is very supportive. No wonder I am always broke....
I would love to hear from you with any advice - I have looked in the gallery at your work - it is fantastic and I am so jealous -If I can be half as good as you I will be very happy.
I highly recommend reading all the STICKIES (posts permanently stuck at the top of any given forum) in the forums prior to exploring to give you a feel for what's what!
Enjoy!

Welcome to SCS Vicki!! You're going to love this site! Maybe you can copy a card or two from the Gallery for your commercial projects and that will free up your time to explore your artistic side!! Have fun browsing! Karen
I didn't even know what encaustic art was so I went & looked it up. Wow is all I can say. I have to stick to stamping for now. You've come to the right place to learn more about stamping, for sure. Congrats on your retirment!

By the by, I have always wanted to visit your part of the world. I am a nut for English history, especially Queen Elizabeth I. Any how, lots of luck with the balance. You can be glad no toddlers are making you stay up till 2 a.m. just so you can get some alone time with SCS. LOL
