*Taps Microphone* "Hello?"
I am Chautona and I am here to sign up for an addiction. I don't want to be cured, I'm not interested in a 12 step program to get help, but I'll take 12 x 12 paper anytime.
Chautona... yeah. The name. Probably should explain that. It is my real name. It is not "Native American" or French and I am not "African American." It is 100%, totally adulterated, Okie. I was named after apartments in Bakersfield California. Yeah. Born in Oklahoma to an Okie father. Just sayin'.
It's Shuh-TONE-uh. If it matters to you. It seems to be important to some people... the rest could care less. I'm good either way.
I live in California's Mojave Desert, 90 miles from any decent shopping, and just signed up with Stampin' Up on Monday night. Yesterday was Christmas on April Fool's Day. yippie!
I'm married to Kevin, a computer scientist with the DOD... thank you for paying your taxes. I have nine children and two grandchildren (ok, I've got the world's greatest son-in-law too). Yes they're all ours, we had them the old fashioned way... one at a time... no twins... no we're not Mormon, no we're not Catholic, no we didn't have a TV for 18 years of our marriage, and yes, as a matter of fact, we did drive a school bus (Gave it away a year ago and bought 2 cars. Yippee). My thanks to Rick Boyer for that little ditty.
I sew, smock, and spend several hours a day writing. I'm a bit obsessed with writing. Just sayin'.
Ok... back to learnin' all kinds of good stuff from you gals. I'm already inspired to try new things!
*steps away from mic, stumbles, picks self up off the floor, dusts self off, laughs at self, slinks away before I do anything else mortifying*

Welcome to the forum! I do some sewing and smocking too (not so much on the writing). However, those two have been sort of pushed out of the way once I discovered stamping!
I hope you enjoy your time here and regale us with more tales!

Hi Chautona and welcome from New Zealand. What a great introduction! Yep, we're all addicted here. Stamps are my weakness, and I write too. I enter short story competitions - would like to actually win one sometime. What do you write?

Welcome, Chautona, I hope you enjoy your stay at SCS.
Loved your intro.
I've only done a little quilting but the precision doesn't go with my crappy eyesight so I pretty much gave it up for stamping. Not that I ever got very far. I have one very small box of "quilting stuff."
I'd love to hear more about your writing, too. My DD actually wrote and self-published a novel last year - before she was even 21! She didn't even tell us she was doing it. I was quite impressed. Okay so I'm a proud parent. LOL

Ready or Not just went to press last week. I've got my little tiny group of "groupies" who wait for each release with great ego-gratifying eagerness. Hee hee.
What kind of short stories do you write, Stephanie?
Kathy, do you have a link to your daughter's book?

Welcome,
We have an awesome feed on here called ʼwhat are you reading at the momentʼ. You 2 should join us there as it is always fantastic to add new writers & readers to the mix! I know that there are some colorful characters on there that would love to meet you. Thanks to this thread I have read a lot of amazing books that I would never have picked up!
I dont̕ know if I am young or just uninformed but I had to wiki ʼSmockʼ because as far as I knew it was a piece of clothing! And after I wikied it I google imaged it and found some amazing work!! One of these days I am going to sign myself up for a craft class with fabric instead of paper. I truly believe paper is more forgiving, but I am fascinated my texture so one day, I will dive into the needle world.
Well, those were my 2 cents for today!!
Happy scrapbooking - hopefully the easter bunny gives you lots of time to indulge in our wonderful hobby.

Off to find said feed... wait, I am guessing that this isn't potluck... I probably shouldn't bring a fork and a plate, eh?
Drat. I was really hoping to avoid making dinner tonight.

The little bit of quilting I did certainly made me appreciate the craft even more. I really did love it, and probably would try to do more if I had the extra space. That's why I haven't given it away - yet. It's not that much, I got some good tools, and I could do rag type quilts without worrying about crappy eyesight and precision, right?
I will PM you a link to her book, she told me last week that she has a few paperbacks leftover that she had gotten to give to people. Family and friends bought it, but that was about it.

Thanks ScrappinTeacher, for letting me know about What are you reading at the moment. SCS never ceases to amaze me with all that is going on! Chautona, to answer your question I write humorous articles for a gardening magazine, and have had a gardening book published, a travel book self-published and I write fictional short stories about people who have to deal with some problem or conflict. If I'm not writing, I'm stamping!
