I got dressed to go for a walk. And it started raining again. It looks like Sunday is the day we might seem the sun. Fingers crossed.

Saturday is our neighborhood littler stomp. I organized our neighborhood so have to go get the supplies with a neighbor tomorrow. Hoping it’s a bit warmer on Saturday then now.

So today going to paint my Happy Fall Y’all sign.

Having breakfast now.
Kitchen routine next
Flip laundry
Maybe watch last nights episode of Mayans.

Cher, it seems to be flooding everywhere. Ed is driving 3 hours both ways today for a meeting. I hope the roads are ok. I hope your friends can save some of their personal stuff.

Yes the flooding is awful. I texted with friend and ask her to find out if we can actually get to her house
She lives right on the river and a side Creek. Im hoping she was on high ground be even if so we may not be able to get there. So we are waiting to hear.
She is just south of where a bridge collapsed.

Goodness, rain everywhere. We had tons of it here and I must admit I would get a little scared going over bridges...eeek.

Morning! We have company so this morning was full getting breakfast on and getting the two girls off to school. It all went off without a hitch, but it does leave me a bit breathless! Then Asher and I went off to story time and now I'm home by myself for a few moments. Some of those moments I used to get lunch ready...a nice salad and some sandwiches. Dinner is a big pot of soup and some corn bread that DH will make.

I'll soon need to head in to get Asher!

ooo, happy mail sounds delightful. And I desperately need to send some myself.

Feeling thankful and happy, but tired. But I can handle that mix vs unhappy and tired! LOL!

Hey y'all! Got kids to school, went to library, ran to Target for a couple of things, got coffee/cake pop since it's double star day, and now Eden is napping. I need to get a move on here at home! It's already after noon!

I'll start with:
Laundry
15 min kitchen pick up
15 minute working in porch

Unless Eden wakes up, then who knows.

I was planning to go this afternoon to Kwik Trip as I have a few items to purchase plus fill the tank...

That plan changed when we got home from the chiro and lunch when I saw a snake...okay...so there really were 2 of them...I only got the little one killed...ugg...

Sara thinks I need to just let them be...UHM NO...NO...NO...ABSOLUTELY NOT...the one that got away is because Sara kept encouraging it to move...

NOT PLEASED.

Going to the stamp room where I can hopefully find my peace and calm again inside me...ugg...so not impressed.

Glad Don and I stopped for milk and eggs last night, my thinking was I could run errands this morning before it gets above 33* so I wouldn't encounter any snakes...

Well, it is already 34* so I'm going to be held hostage today inside my house!

It is supposed to get to 68* today...not happy.

No furnace installation date yet so guess I should be thankful it isn't below freezing!

Good morning y’all.

I’m exhausted and sore. I never knew the devastation of a flood. Its so weird. The house is still Whole and standing but everything inside is a jumbled mess. We figure that the furniture must have floated then when the water receded was all tossed around. Most furniture is trashed. Everything is covered in mud/silt. We managed to get almost everything out of the house. Furniture that is salvageable is loaded in our trailer and parked in our barn.

There were several miracles/blessings. She had a few pieces of her moms fine china (very fragile) although they were tossed all over the house they were fine. All their photo albums were on the very top shelf of their closet and escaped the water. And a valued old family Bible was also on that top shelf.

I was amazed at their attitudes, they were calm and grateful for what they found. I would have been a blubbering mess in fact I did shed a few tears. You just can’t imagine the mess. It was hard to walk through all the sludge on the floors.. cups in the cupboard full of water . clothes hanging in the closet soaking wet. mud on the walls over my head.

And they are predicting it could flood again in the next 2 days. Praying against that!!!!

Hugs Cher! I'm so glad they found some sentimental things intact. Do they have flood insurance?

I’m pretty sure they did. I didn’t ask questions. Didn’t want to stir up emotions. They were supposed to be leaving on a cruise. Hope they had insurance for that also.

We talked a lot about old memories of her mom.

Morning y'all! Jeff had a dr appt, so he took the kids to school for me. That was nice. Eden and I are going to run to Costco and I think Goodwill for a few things. Door guy is going to be here this afternoon to prime. Glad it's warmed up some so we can have the windows open for ventilation! Other than that, I have a bill to pay, a library book to read, and lots and lots of picking up to do. I feel like I haven't made any progress anywhere in the house all week. Not entirely true, but it's been very little.

I also need to sew a shirt for Ezra for the school play asap and I need to sign up for other costumes to work on. I guess my action items on that today will be to actually look at the sign up form and to wash the fabric.

Her brother is an insurance adjuster so he was able to to give advise. He thinks the house is salvageable. Of course it would have to be totally gutted. All appliances are garbage. Even the water heater.

Again, you just can’t imagine.

Another blessing their boat dock is fine even though their neighbors is gone. And I mean gone down river.

Cher I would be crying...and I am not a crier nor am I a hugger but I think I would want to be hugged...

Just sayin'

Those pictures make me sick to my stomach and i seriously can not imagine how to function in that situation...I would be a mental mess.

I'm a mental mess with snakes outside my house and a furnace that isn't functioning correctly...lots of stories being written in my head...I need out!

The worst part for me was that one gal (who didn’t show up) on our text messaging group about helping said to watch for snakes!!!! Freaked me out as I was wading thru stuff.
We were feeling thru that mud with gloves hands looking for keys and jewelry.

2 couples (us and another) and her brother showed up to help. And his sweet parents, weak and old but willing to help however they could. Her friend cried when we showed because it was so overwhelming and she thought they had to do it all alone. We just took a room and started. The guys got all the furniture out, I worked on bagging clothes and packing valuable out of the closet. Furniture drawers were swollen shut but we managed to get them opened enough to get clothes out.

Wow, Cher!! (((Hugs)))

Last night on the news they were talking about how most home owners insurance doesn’t cover flooding & most people don’t have a policy for that. And it’s so devastating!

We have a break in our rain for a few hours. Although we have more coming. Crazy how much rain we’ve had.

Been a slow morning. Just now eating breakfast.

Just found out that the Kids are coming this weekend so I’ve got to get the guest room and craft room ready. Both are a mess. You’ve got to make a mess to clean a mess.😏 been washing all sheets that were in guest closet. Trying to match sets up and get them into vacuum bags. Bought bins for all my yarn so got it all out of the closet and sorting thru....
Make a mess to clean a mess. Now I gotta clean in a hurry.😬

OH wow Cher....so good you and others could pitch in help. So appreiciate the circle of kindness in our world.

Rough, hard day with little man. Company left around 10:30 this morning. Now he is waking up from his nap...I wanted to get on and chat after he went down for a nap, but I desperately needed a nap. I took a 1 hr nap and slept hard... Now I feel a bit out of whack, but I'm just going to take it easy this evening. DH has a 1 hr meeting right after work.

I got the little's rooms back together and laundry is happening, but that's it today. Ate junk today and that's not helping how I feel right now. Ugh...

Hugs to you Cher. It has to be overwhelming just helping and then to have company coming, too. You are really being a blessing all around!!

Trying to decide on supper here...

Smoked pork chop steaks, all-rotten potatoes, corn bread muffins and fruit.

Tomorrow I am heading out early and hope I don't see a snake!

It got to 71* here today...Don killed one snake...I made 21 cards today . ..made 20 between Monday and Wednesday...

Also made 15 backgrounds using Distress Oxide Inks...

My house is picked up, wouldn't say it is deep-clean but it is good enough...and I also made supper yesterday and today...

Patting myself on the back because no-one else will...

Good morning! Grey and wet here. It's FRIDAY again! Time flies!

I went back to bed after my early morning meditations and prayer. It felt so good after a couple of mornings getting up and doing all the things with company here!!! And because Asher is back in his own room, he is sleeping in too. Yes please!!

I'm working on not feeding on thoughts that don't need feeding on. It's hard work, but oh so liberating and good.

And yes, Faye...patting yourself on the back is A-OK...though we would do it virtually for you!! So amazed at all your card making you've done this week!!! Good for you! I'm still working at it, but with company I had even less time to get myself in gear creatively! And Asher has been going through a naughty/sassy phase which leaves me so depleted by the time he goes down for a nap.

Good morning y’all.

Another rainy day here. Getting so tired of it!!!! But everything is green which is such a change for us.

Kids plan on being here around 4.
I’ll need to grocery shop.
Get dinner into crockpot (short ribs)
Put out rubber fooor tiles
Bring toys out of guest room
Finish tidying up craft room

Tomorrow friends are coming with friends to work on the furniture in the trailer. Hoping our friend who has had our moving trailer will bring it back. Then things can be moved from one to the other as they are cleaned and dealt with.

Need to shop for lunch stuff for all the people tomorrow.

You know you live in a small town when you call to arrange half-payment for a new furnace and you are told..Oh, don't worry about that, we trust you!

Also, you are going to make me suffer until the end of the week? Okay, how about Tuesday? Sure...we have heat but we have the horrible noise of the fan until the heat pump kicks in...

Good morning! Wet and gross today. Trying to decide if I have any errands that won't keep until Monday.

Need to decide about play orders and turn in whatever we decide
Make challah
Figure out/prep supper
Keep picking up
Read
Sew patches on scout shirts
Help boys get ready for tomorrow
Possibly run to Goodwill (if I go, take my donations, too!)
Fill out Menards rebate and mail
