I told my DH this first thing this morning. He asked what do we do to celebrate? Clean our toilet? Then he told them at PT, and the receptionist, said yes, we are flying the flag at half mast, LOL

LOL! I got a real laugh out of that Sharon. I guess I'd better clean up my act. My daughter is having a hard time with the 3 year old using a lot of 'potty' language. So I should not be a bad example.

I’m feeling grateful for everything that is good in my life and makes me happy. You ladies rock. I am so thankful for your friendship and I know I’m crap at keeping up on cards and scrapbook LOs and tutorials, but I love to see what you all make...and you know how much I like to chat lol. Sleep well and see you later.

Just a quickie. Yup I am wonky. Grumpy says I need to time shift. So I will be off for the next few days while my body and brain attempt to be in the same time zone. Big hugs

Jayne is it the traveling that’s upset your husband? That’s what I never look forward to,

We went to Morton’s steakhouse in Las Vegas, famous apparently and the steaks were enormous and I might add expensive but they melted in your mouth! Tonight we are going for a Burmese curry, our son says it milder than an Indian curry.

We have the boys off after today until we go so we’ve got all our jobs done and pressies wrapped etc, half packed as we have stuff in one case that will stay closed until we arrive in Spain, our son and DIL told us last night that they have a gift for us to take back for Christmas, now I’m worrying it will be too big as the second suitcase is almost full as they’ve given me loads of clothes to take back for youngest GS, we thought the Vegas trip was our Christmas present from them!

I will need to diet when we get home with all the meals out as our son wants to take us to a Burmese buffet restaurant on Friday and DIL just emailed from work to ask if we want to go to the restaurant near the beach on Monday, they do a lovely braised steak and fries so of course I said yes, she’s been given some vouchers from work I think.

Hi Jan...you sound as though you are having lots of treats. Good to hear.

Yes, DH got sick on the last day of our cruise. By the time we disembarked he wasn’t well and has spent most of this week in bed...me too but my ailments were different from DH’s lol. He finally relented and went to the Drs yesterday and is on antibiotics. He has a chest infection, which I kept telling him he had. Men sometimes won’t listen. It’s frustrating.
The joys of travel and getting older.

Keep having fun. When do you go home?

Hi everyone....waving

Jayne we leave a week tomorrow, the day after Thanksgiving, it’s usually quite good flying them , not so busy, only a week in the UK, looking after GS before we catch the ferry, they arrive for Christmas about ten days after we get home so we will be busy getting our heads around being home, usually takes a week to sort ourselves out, lots of outdoor jobs clearing leaves, trimming trees, weeds etc

Hope your husband is feeling better now he has meds, you are right about men and going to the doctor, the nurse here told me when Steve had his heart attack that the hospital was full of men who never go to the doctor, !!

Default S2S19TT ' Snow drifts'

Better late than never, they say. Our challenge for this week is 'snow' and hopefully snow drifts. I have watched a few videos featuring the sponging of snow drifts. My sample card is my first try and I did not do so well. Actually, I did try it twice on scrap copy paper and it wasn't too bad, but I took a step backwards on my sample card. Anyway, give it a try. Looking forward tto seeing snow cards.

Kathy I really hope not but the garden is always a mess when we’ve been away, it’s having mainly tiled floors outside the dust and leaves blow everywhere , we have the pool cleaned while we are away so that’s one job Steve won’t have to do.

Sharon, has the scraplift and stashbuster challenges finished? I noticed a while back there hadn’t been any new challenges. I see you are on the scrapbook goals, I will have to join that next year if the others are finished as I have lots to scrap and my new die to use!

I just read a really good challenge. Its called the decade challenge, ten things that have changed in the last 10 years. I am kinda scared to do it about me. Why? Cause I will see how much I am not the person I was and most likely not in a good way health wise.

Lynn I think that would be the same for most of us, Steve especially has quite a few things going on, ten years ago we thought he was fit and healthy!

In the past 10 years, I have gone from being a grandma to only 3 boys in Texas, to now having one more there, but also 5 grandkids here in Ontario (within easy driving distance). Also from working full time night shifts to retired in good health. Life was good then, and it is good now too.oh yes, more pounds, more wrinkles, more grey hair and many more cardmaking supplies.

Ina that is fairly like me too, two sons only one married now both are married, we only had one GS now three, I’m healthy apart from a few aches and pains, but our life is good, Steve thankfully doesn’t let any of his problems get him down, it’s made him more determined to enjoy life, I must admit I wish we lived nearer the family but we love living in Spain and the family all think we we made the right decision to go there although of course they all wish we lived nearer so we could help out without traveling all those miles every time.

I think for me the pluses are.. My son is a man I can be very proud of. His GF is a kind and loving woman that I am very proud of

Hi everyone..popping in before I start today’s jobs. Boy have we been busy...one more room to do after today and the downstairs is done..phew. Next week the upstairs begins. That one may take some time as one room is my craft room lol. My back and knees will never be the same after this decluttering and cleaning lark. I am determined to enter 2020 without all this stuff around me.

Ten years ago......wow...I was working part time and Son1 had a new GF (now his wife). They also had just got a puppy and little did they know a poppet would be coming soon after. Son2 was living in his own home and had no partner, and son3 was living with us. We also lived in an apartment in the city and walked to work and all our stuff was in storage. I spent most of my time driving up and down the freeway to catch up with friends who didn’t like to visit the city...mainly as parking fees were high. Life was less cluttered and I think easier...from a home perspective. We went to more shows and events in the city. I also only scrapbooked.

Now, we are retired, probably not as healthy but still fairly fit, have 2 darling poppets, two sons married and the youngest has just moved out. Life seems to be busier...how can that be? I’ve accumulated more craft stuff and taken up cardmaking...lol. I rarely scrap.

Now I want to find a balance between the 2. I also want all the non used and unusable stuff I’ve accumulated in 30+ years to be gone.

Have a wonderful day everyone..it’s Wednesday. Waving to you all

Hi Jayne, How is your husband? Hope he’s feeling better.
Funny how we are all busy even though we are retired! I spent last year using craft papers that I had in my stash and barely made a dent in them so I will be doing the same this year, I haven’t spent much at all this last year as I have stuff I haven’t used yet, ha ha,

Hey! Sweet pea has asked for a real Canadian Christmas!!! I am gonna try the recipe I found for Kathy that does a turkey breast in the crock pot also known as a slow cooker. I have never cooked a turkey in my life! I found a recipe for cranberry sauce too. Hoping to take sweet pea to our fav market

Hi Jan, he's much better thanks and pretty much back to normal. He's still taking antibiotics.

Lynn...yay to a real Canadian Xmas. Enjoy it all. I'm also hoping to have Xmas here...stlll waiting to find out what everyone's plans are.

I've done nothing but declutter and clean the past 3 days and am. over. it. For today LOL. My back is stuffed. I have told hubby that all I want for Xmas is Marie Condo....the decluttering lady LOL...to come here and finish the rest. I'm sure once I've slept and rested I will be back into it. In my next life I am coming back as a minimalist LOL.

In case I don't get online tomorrow....wishing all of you in the States HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Have a wonderful day.

In the meantime, happy Wednesday.

I've not done a turkey breast in the crock pot but I've done a whole chicken that when cooked, tastes like one of those rotisserie chickens from the grocery store.

The trick is to make a roasting rack from balls of aluminum foil for the chicken to rest on. I think would probably work the same for a turkey breast.

Hi girls!

Just a quick pop in while I am making the rounds.
Bob and I are peacefully alone for Thanksgiving. We'll eat and play cards pretty much all day.

Steve is boning the turkey and making homemade stuffing, apricots, walnuts, onion and sausage meat, when you carve it you have a round of turkey meat with stuffing in the middle, it always looks impressive and tastes delicious, apparently we are having suckling pig for Christmas, not my idea, our son and DIL are coming to Spain for Christmas and the three of them chose that, I’m hoping we will be too late to order one by the time we get home, he,he

It was a heart stopping day in Toronto! I fell asleep on the couch and literally jumped when the fire alarm went off at 10 am. Yup I am awake till 5am then sleep. I went to my bed and finally fell asleep again to wake up with a start because something was crawling up my back! Yup cat had decided to crawl in bed with me for the first time in her 13 years! OK I figure I am calm. I went to my room to read because my place smelled of pot. Reading the killer was walking up to his victim went my phone goes off! It was an Amber Alert. A message that goes out to all devices when a child goes missing!

Lynn he’s a brilliant cook,I wish I could say I taught him all I know but he surpassed my cooking skills years ago, ha,ha,

Don’t you hate it when you get woke up suddenly, it takes ages to fall asleep again.

We went shopping this morning and saw two accidents with the space of two minutes, one of them just in front of us so thank goodness we were a minute behind, driving too fast on wet roads and hit the barrier on the corner, another car had overtaken us but stopped on the outside lane to avoid the crashed car and a car coming up behind him was going so fast he had to stop and he skidded but didnt hit anything, just around the corner the other way was a car with the barrier stuck between his front tyre and the wheel arch, he had mounted the barrier, the police had sealed the road off with flares and all the traffic was stuck, it’s a notorious bad road, steep with bends and every day someone has an accident going too fast, idiots as it’s a 30 zone.

I wish I was a brilliant cook. I have always been a good cook. Now with my mouth issues I have a hard time noticing how much spice to add. Also I have forgotten so many simple recipes! A good thing I did was write out all my son's fav meals when he moved out. Right now I an trying to remember what I put in the apple sauce that sweet pea loved so much! I just did another batch and she said they weren't the same. Oh did I tell you that as soon as grumpy falls asleep she eats it all!

Default S2S19UU 'Angels'

One last chance to get those Christmas cards done, if you haven't done so already. Someone asked me to make an angel card, and I did not remember if I had any angel stamps, but when I looked, I found 3 of them. So I made three catds. Mine are all Christmas cards, but you could make it for any occassion, I suppose. I will post the cards in my gallery, but I have no way of linking them. Here are my cards.

Ugh.

Kelly, that’s where I’m at...the living room. Fortunately only one unit to declutter in here. I also want it done so I can put the tree up next week.

After this area, we will head upstairs. That should be easier as apart from my craft room most of the stuff belongs to son3 who has recently moved out and there’s also the poppets play room.

I’m expecting my craft room to take a week...I want to do it properly this time so I don’t have to do it again lol. Then I’m done. Fingers crossed I get it all done before Xmas as I want to go forward in 2020 just enjoying my new space.

We love playing cards and board games. Hubby and I played cards last week when we were both sick. Was so nice instead of chores lol.

Happy decluttering and thanksgiving.

Jan, wow that Turkey sounds yum. I stuff mine but don’t debone it...just the normal stuffing. My mum used to make delicious stuffing. I wish I’d taken more notice of her cooking when I was younger. Now I do things the easy way. I think after 40+ years I’m over cooking and having to think about what to eat for lunch...dinner lol.

We are having Xmas dinner here this year and in recent years I’ve cooked a hot turkey meal but this year will go back to Aussie style, including seafood. I find it too difficult to keep a roast meal hot and just right when there’s different families involved and they all turn up at different times.

Hubby says..bad time of the year for turkeys lol.

Enjoy it all.

Hugs everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving! I have a turkey breast in the slow cooker. This is the way we have done it for both Christmas & Thanksgiving the last view years.
