Kathy your card is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for playing. I still have to try the shaving cream technique. Maybe someone can do this as a challenge *wink*...not me lol.

Happy weekend everyone

Sounds like a lot of JD fans over here. We're and IH family, so all red here. The BF finally bought a round baler last weekend at a consignment farm equipment auction and warned me not to be shocked when I got there and saw a piece of green equipment in the driveway.

Haven't played with shaving cream in forever. May have to do that soon, it is fun to play with! I have been hoarding some full sheets of watercolor back grounds that mom and I made.

That video was awesome! I think I've been doing it all wrong! I didn't put another layer over the original layer....I will have to find some packaging materials and try again this weekend! Thanks for the video.

Kathy you are as bad as me...I sometimes put double layers but didn’t for my recent prints. Have fun. I think I will be saving everything from now on to use lol

I spoiled myself rotten today!!! I felt good. Outside felt like maybe 30c. My local( 45 minutes north) play store had a demo day. Traffic north was pretty good. Got there a bit early so I had time that I could talk to those who were doing demos. The first lady helped me figure out my Hanukkah card. I told her to think of it as a candle card. Then I took a picture with my phone so I can remember. The next lady was doing angels! One lady had an advent calendar of boxes. I got pictures so I just need my place to cool down then I can get my computer going.

Oh got stuck in traffic coming back into the city so I watched the small planes land at Buttonville airport!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. it was quite a day! DH and I were trimming trees down front when I heard someone yelling help! I ran so I could see behind my sisters house and DH says is that your dad laying on the steps by the garage? I ran like crazy so he would know help was coming. I went in the house and couldn't find mom, but the water was running in the kitchen sink. I shut it off and went out with dads walker and DH and I got him up and into the house. Mom comes in the kitchen and says did he fall? We got him onto his bed and mom cleaned him up and then we took him to the ER. They did a CT scan and xrays and nothing was broken but he had an 8 inch cut they glued shut. He can't lift his arm up very high so she said to follow up with orthopedics in case he tore his rotator cuff. Apparently that doesn't show on xray or CT scans. But no brain bleeds. Arthritis in his neck. I was dragging tree branches before this happened. I'm just glad I heard him because no one else did. They did give him a tetanus shot because no one remembered when he had one and there wasn't anything listed in his chart. Oh, I was in such a hurry I just threw sandals on and my feet were filthy! Glad no one noticed!

(((Kathy))). Gosh how lucky was your dad that you heard him call for help. I didn’t realise that you lived so close to your sister. Hope that he is ok.

Lynn, you sound as though you had a fun day. Love your tag.

Happy weekend everyone...I think we need a group hug

Oh Kathy big huge hugs! You were certainly in the right place at the right time!

I had a neighbor who was 86 and she fell in her place and I didn't hear her. You all know about temp hubby. Well I got them both a personal alarm that they wore on a lanyard around their neck. All they had to do was pull about an inch and the alarm would sound

I don't think dad would remember to pull it. He doesn't remember when mom tells him to stay in his chair for few minutes. He doesn't remember to use his walker or take his cane. Its one thing to be physically disabled, but a whole other ballgame when dementia rears its ugly head.

Kathy, so pleased to hear you dad is ok, you must have been so worried running over there, thank goodness you heard him shout out.

Lynn good for you getting out and crafting.

Jayne, sending a hug, no sure why you needed one but I’m sending one anyway.

Umm silly question. Can you put a leash kinda thing on the cane and attach it to his arm? So when he moves his arm a certain amount he will see the cane? Or would that cause frustration?

Lynn glad you got out and got yourself some crafty goodies. I've seen the glue sponges but wondered what they werefor or how to use them. The recipe looks yummy.

Kathy glad your dad wasn't seriously hurt and that you were out where you heard him.

Jan, how is your DIL doing?

Hello to every one else! In Cincinnati for the weekend. Heading home tomorrow. Youngest niece had Homecoming Friday night so came out to see her all dressed up and help her with a craft project. Nephew had asked me last year to come for one of his cross country meets but couldn't get a weekend off work, so glad I go to go to his meet yesterday. Worked out to come this weekend to do something for both kids.

We have to be very careful. Anything that might trip him is not good. You'd have to see him to understand how bad his coordination is. You and I can reach straight out and pick something up. As he reaches out his hand goes all over the place before grabbing what he's reaching for. Almost shaking like Parkinson's only worse!

Kathy your Mum must be so pleased you live near to help as it sounds like he needs quite a lot of care

Angie, DIL had a day at the hospital on Friday for tests and this morning she has to go back I think to decide meds etc, she’s had to cancel a work trip to NY for this week, unfortunately she was meeting her school friend for the weekend too and they were going to a concert so she will be disappointed to let her friend down as she was flying from the Uk.

Happy Monday everyone. Jan, I didn’t need a hug but thought a group one would be good lol...I like giving hugs lol. Glad your DIL is receiving treatment. It’s a shame about cancelling her trip but best to be safe than sorry.

Well we are getting our house back...son3 announced he’s moving out tomorrow and had already started moving his bed. It will be good for everyone and we get our space back. I can’t wait to declutter the upstairs and get this house organised.

Enjoy your day everyone

Jayne shall we all join you in a happy jig?

I took GS to daycare at 8am, son left at 6.30, DIL at 7.15 and when I came back we sat eating breakfast in silence and Steve said isn’t this lovely, peace and quiet. Our DIL is always screeching when she talks to our GS, she can’t speak quietly, she gives Steve a headache, ha,ha,

Oh Kathy, so sorry your dad had a fall, but so glad you heard him and that he has no serious damage. It is so sad to see loved one sliding into dementia. I had to smile about your dirty feet and remembered an incident about 15 years ago, when I was on my hands and knees in the garden, when my neighbour walked to the end of her driveway, all dressed up, hair and makeup done and a purse on her arm. She told me her husband was driving home, with chest pain. When he got there, his colour was grey, and he was perspiring profusely. She got in the driver seat, he moved over and I jumped in the back. Got to the ER, I walked in and told the nurse to get a wheelchair and bring him in while I prepared the cardiogram and took it as soon as he was in bed. I could see right away, he had a bad heart attack, before the doc got there. The nurse already had the blood clot buster prepared as soon as he ordered it. And there I was standing with my dirty hands and muddy knees on my oldest jeans! But John is alive and well today because of rapid action and the best doctor in the house.
Lynn, glad you treated yourself to all those goodies. Now you can play!
Jan, it does get noisy when you have young children and their parents. Ignore the noise and enjoy the grands.
Angie, glad you get to enjoy time with your niece and nephew.
Jayne, so great that your son is able to move out and be independant. And you will have more space. How cool is that!
We were also in moving mode this weekend. My daughter and family are moving themselves, so it is fpgoing in bits and pieces. Their new place is exactly 12 minutes from my place. A lovely 3 bedroom home, with an open concept kitchen, dining and living room on main floor and a finised basement, and a darling little backyard. The final moving day will be on Thursday when my son-in-law's brother can help.

Oh dear what happened to the summer, pelting it down with rain, GS wanted to go on his scooter to daycare as he likes to go fast he told us so I had to hide it so steve and son could get him in the car. He’s very comical, if they tell him off or he can’t get his own way he folds his arms, stomps around the kitchen and goes in his tent making grunting noises, at least he does scream like some kids I’ve seen,LOL

No walks on the seafront today!

Happy Wednesday everyone. Jan, yes let's all do a happy jig....I know it sounds bad but after son1 came home and said he was only staying for 6 months max and it's been 20 months already, we thought it was time he was independent again. He lived with us until he was 25, moved out for 2 years, went travelling for a year and then came back to us LOL. I am so happy to be getting my guest room back although he is leaving a lot of his things with us still. We will do anything for our kids but this is our time now and we found it has been like having a teenager with us again. It's also forced him to increase his hours at work. He was living as though he were retired LOL. We just have to find out if he is taking his dad's car......I don't like having one car between us but we will figure things out and get another one if we have to. He has already said he will bring his washing back weekly and could we continue to tape his sport shows....LOL. I think once he finds a girl things will change again.

Moving on....not much else happening. We have been busy with home, planning, planting, golf and we will be spring cleaning right through the house once son1 has moved totally. He doesn't do things quickly LOL. The house needs it. I may not be online as much as I intend to do our jobs first without being distracted. I also don't need cards at present LOL and want to catch up on my scrapbooking. Having said this, I will pop on when I do have time for a chat.

I did an audio FaceTime with sis Vicki today...was so cool to chat and hear her voice. She sounds so American LOL.

Happy day and week everyone.

Jayne I know exactly what you mean about kids leaving, our eldest went to uni and we thought he would get a job and leave home but he came home until he was 27 as the job he got was right near home and he couldn’t afford to buy a place, then he was offered a better job in Manchester so he did buy and moved, then moved to London and now Kent although he wasn’t a problem as he’s always been easy to get on with but it was just that we had been used to being on our own.

How lovely to speak to Sis Vicki, we have got used to American accents! Our GSs are totally CA boys, I have to remember to call things by their American name when I’m over there else the younger one doesn’t have a clue what I’m talking about.

I know that Kelly peeked in here last week, but I don't know if she remembered she signed upnto do the challenge this week. I have sent her a pm with no response.
Here's my idea. I do have a challenge ready to go, but I don't want to steal her thunder. I will be leaving home at 8 a.m. tomorrow and will not arrive back here until around supper time. If she does not post a challenge, I will post mine after that. I hope y'all are o.k. with waiting. After all, there are so many other ideas and challenges around, that if you really need to make a card, you can easily check the galleries, or Pinterest.

Just a note.....it’s Kelly’s birthday today....maybe she’s sleeping in or being spoilt lol. I was surprised that she had offered to host today’s challenge on her special day. I’m sure she will remember as she seems very organised.

Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Kellyyyyy..happy birthday to you. Have a wonderful day. Hugs

Hugs to everyone else. I’ll be back tomorrow. I’m currently wearing sunnies in the house until my eyes get used to the light. Happy Thursday.

Default S2S19LL 'Getting lacey'

Well, I am home from the funeral. My ex's aunt Alice died at the age of 99. Visiation at 10, funeral at 11, followed by a light lunch, which was rolls with meat and cheese, raisin bread, and a few veggies. Nothing there except raw veggies, for me to eat. So I got home hungry and had to make a meal before getting on-line.
Our challenge this week is to use up some of the lace you may have lying around in your sewing basket, or ribbon stash. Easy, peasy. I only had time to make 1 sample card, as I also had to make a BD card for my son-in-law, and lace would never do for that.

I hoard a lot of things, but lace isn't one of them. But...I know I have some red
Lace and white lace and maybe a bit of cream. Might be late getting to this, its been a busy week. Oh....I have a very creative idea! (For a change!)

Ina great challenge..I do have lace....love it and items with lace on.

I hope Kelly is ok. Perhaps she got her months mixed up. I’m still receiving her blog posts so she’s still going lol.

Just been and had blood tests done. Time to seize the day and tonight we are going to a show.

Happy day everyone
