Wow, lots of catching up this morning. I had a very busy day yesterday........... church, birthday party for my 4 yr. old grandson (a 95 minute drive one way) then church again, as we were just finishing a week of prayer for the new year.
Jayne thanks for posting a link about your nuytsia trees. They are gorgeous.
Jan, fun story abbout your grandson. Belated happy bitrhday to Steve.
About birthdays, some of us have each other's info, and maybe other's don't. I know that Sharon did a birthday/address list for the Alphabet challenge ladies. Maybe someone could do the same for our group. I will pm you my info.
It's so freeing not to be posting a challenge on a Monday now. I hope Thursdays work out for the rest of you.

Ina, sounds like you’ve had a busy weekend, I don’t mind compiling a list of dates, address etc, unless someone already has one already and would like to share it or do the list of course.

Thursdays for the challenge is fine for me although it did seem strange this morning, I’m hoping to do more of them this year so I’m waiting eagerly for the next step.

I forgot we changed days, but any day works because we have no deadlines really.

I’m sorry to hear that, Lynn. I know you expected it.
I guess the question now is what member of the family is going to step up and take her husband in.

He used to buy them and leave them for Steve, we then lent them to friends, you know the Sharpe books, we have the set, the series was shot over here, we actually went to football match at Talavera, in the north and went to see the monument in the book. Also loads of other history type stuff.
Hi Jan, yes he was. I also read The Girl on the Train and I let You Go too....I like books like that. Have you read Appletree Yard...there was a movie on it too? I can give you some recommendations if you need any....I used to be an avid reader...all genres. One of my favourites is Lisa Genove.....sad reading but creates awareness of terrible diseases.

I don't know the Sharpe books...will check them out. I usually read on my kindle now as our bookcases are groaning with books 2-3 deep on each shelf. We love books. My hubby has his history and war section and I have mine that are chick books, historical, drama...you name it. I also love Geraldine Brooks, Kate Morton, Kate Atkinson...gosh I could go on and on LOL.

Happy reading.

Jan I will pm you my details. I'm happy to have mine on a list as long as it's not shown on any thread and just emailed in a private message if that's ok. You can't be too careful with personal info.

I have Ina's and Sharon's but would love anyone else's who would like to receive happy mail now and again.

Thanks

Lynn, so sorry to hear of your friend's passing. I really hope that you aren't burdened with the arrangements or looking after the father all the time. Be strong and take care. Hugs.

Happy Tuesday everyone...it's been a frustrating day here but I'm now happier. I managed to do some craft again yesterday and hope to head to my room shortly for a little while before dinner.

Enjoy your day.

Jayne the Sharpe books were made into a series with Sean Bean, couldn't believe how he's aged when he was in Game of Thrones, then again so have I, ha,ha,
I think I've read some books by the two Kates you mentioned as our DIL reads them so I read them while in the uk, that Appletree yard rings a bell too.
I must admit to reading on kindle usually mostly when I'm travelling.

Jayne, I sent you a private email, I agree about personal Info, steve being Ex police is obsessed, hence no Facebook etc.

Jan, this looks like a good start. I really like putple, but hardly ever use it for cards. I still like all shades of turquoise and blue the best, but I am trying to challenge myself to expand color choices.

Lynn, my condolences to you. You have been through a rough time with your friend and her husband. Hopefully, the family will assess his situation well and be united in doing what is best for him.

I just googled the time zones and Jayne is exactly 12 hours ahead of us, here in the eastern standard time. It's good to be able picture that.

I am the same time zone as Ina

Just got an update. The service will be next week. I have been looking through my closet for something appropriate to wear to a funeral. My choices are limited now that I have skin issues, anything high in cotton will usually work. Though they are mostly leisure wear styles. The son's partner did some cooking. She made enough meals for a week so that helps.

My head is just a muddle as I go through grief and shift to nights.

Ok i am about to ramble so just ignore me

So my friend passed away. I met her at work..i used to be technical support and she was admin support. I used to have to write up how to documents for computer things. She used to check it and make my wording more simple. She also used to make these huge excel spreadsheets that i used to check for her. Yes she was 33 years older than me but most of the times it didn't matter. She was an excellent seamstress and helped me modify my patterns. She would get a good laugh at some of the materials that i would buy in the spring after the dull colours of winter! We modified recipes together. Then she would take the elder role and teach me how to set a proper table. I would do the techie stuff for her home. My son and i were invited to Christmas cause we would do as we were told..ate what was served and left at an appropriate time...unlike his kids.

Ok..i neededvto get that out.. thanks for letting me

Got your emails thanks...all good. Happy day

Lynn, it is good that you can share good memories of times spent with your friend. I didn't realise that you worked together. I thought they were neighbours and you were just helping them with their shopping, etc before she got sick. My apologies if my comments have seemed somewhat harsh. I was merely thinking of you and what you were doing for her hubby when he had a family of his own. I am sure that you will find something suitable to wear to the service. The important thing is that you are there to say goodbye. Sometimes losing a friend is worse than losing a family member, especially if you were close. Hugs

yay, the like button has been fixed...I can go back to liking to my little heart's content. Happy Wednesday/Tuesday everyone.

Ina, yep we are 12 hours behind the US and I wasn't sure about Canada so good to read I can still think 12 hours LOL...not sure if some parts have different time zones like here in Australia. We are 3 hrs behind Sydney and Melbourne and I think 1.5 behind Adelaide and 2 behind Qld....something like that. I get confused even in my own country. Our State is the only one that doesn't have daylight saving. We tried it and it was voted against....people said it would affect their farm animals, their curtains...you name it, people thought of it and didn't want it. I like daylight saving when visiting the UK....it is strange to be out at 10pm and it's still light. Here it gets dark at the same time...around 7pm.

Enjoy your sleep/day everyone

The whole family have watched Game of Thrones so I did, it’s a bit gory in places but I enjoyed it although we can only get to watch it in SF so our son saves it until we get there and watches it with us, so he says, ha,ha,

Did you watch the Nightwatchman? That was good too, we only watch films with our sons, they have sky, apple, Netflix, we only have freeview, usually English rubbish TV, they recommend films that are good, Steve usually says better avoid them if they liked them!! LOL Although youngest has saved us some really good ones in the last few visits, I don’t like horror films or vampires stuff like that, scaredy-cat, that’s me.

We were bored one day in SF, stuck in as it was raining and found Alaska the last frontier, got a bit involved in it and now we can watch it here, not sure why we like it but it’s easy watching, it fascinates us for some reason.

Lynn I thought like Jayne that you were just neighbours, glad you told us your history together and how you met, at least you know that you’ve been a good friend and done all you could, you couldn’t have done more.

I’m sure you have something suitable, I’m always surprised over here that people don’t always dress up, look like they’ve just come as they are! We once had to go to a friends funeral, in our football shirts as that’s what he said he always wanted, was very strange.

Sweet pea keeps trying to get my son into those little swimsuits..but it is a big fat NO!

Just waking up and no messages to go shopping so i guess they figured it out. Temp hubby wants to see me so i need to wait for the meds to clear my system

Tomorrow i get the twins dad as my temp hubby. The twins mom had surgery and is having some assistance devices delivered. When the twins mom is away the dad comes to me when he gets stuck. This one is my neighbour.

Lynn, you are so helpful and such a good friend and neighbor! I pray the Lord will bless you for it. Not many like you.

Lynn, Ditto what sharon said, so how many temp husbands are you hiding over there!
No wonder you need meds, so would I if I had more than one man to put up with, LOL
Steve would never starve without me around, he just wouldn’t find his own clothes or know what meds to take!

Ok here is first step done of the challenge, although not glued down. These prints were out of the same family, just don't know what it is called! Don't know which way this will go yet or if I will reverse the prints. We will see what next step is!
the base is ivory, then soft suede then the prints.

Jan, variety is the spice of life. Lynn doesn't need to stick with one husband if she has temps.
I got a picture of Steve with no clothes on, cooking a meal and looking in the oven for his meds.

Sharon, I like the papers you chose. I have the floral one in my stash.

Eeekkk! Someone wipe that image from my mind please! Lol

So i spoke to temp hubby daughter today..seems she has been blown away with all the help i have given. Temp hubby said nothing about that...hmm???

So neighbour hubby caught me in the hall... he is so worried about the surgery and the stuff that is coming. Took a while but i was able to explain in terms he can relate to... now he feels better able to help her. I need to speak to the twins mom cause there has been a change in logistics

The mass for my friend will be next Wednesday at 11am... i need to figure out how to do that if i am falling asleep at 6am. I got a nice black sweater for the mass so i think i have my clothing covered.

I need a nap!
