Our pastor has started a daily scripture and message over our prayer chain. I've decided to start a thread with the scripture he uses. You will find that thread here.scriptural peace through pandemic 2020 a t632732.html

I think hand soaps may be better than liquid soaps, as generally, one spends more time suddsing up with them.
Glad you found the pumpkin bread mix. Not only a delicious treat, but also good memories.
I got a paper pumpkin yesterday and am creating a card. This was a one time purchase and I don't think I will order it again. I can certainly use it, but not worth the money and mainly, I like making cards from scratch.
The premier of our province has declared a state of emergency today, good untill the end of the month at least. Restaurants closed, churches closed, no travel outside the country, etc. If a restaurant has a drive through, that can stay open. It will be good for McDonalds.
There is a silver lining to that. In Waterloo (a city about 50 minutes from here) there has historically been a St. Patty's day bash on Ezra Avenue, attended by up to 30,000 universty students. It was a wild , drunk up, and police have been trying to shut it down for at least a decade. With the state of emergency and the emphasis on social distancing, currently, there are only a few students and lots of police and security people there.

Thanks Kathy. I will check it out. On Sunday, I listened to a sermon that I had missed on a Sunday I was teaching toddler's church. There are several more messages I have missed, although our church web site only posts the sermons and not the singing. For that I went to you tube.

Happy St. Patty's Day. Hopefully, everyone will heed the warnings and stay home. It should definitely curtail the drunk driving, at least, one would hope so!

Hoping to get some cards made today. With my SIL and DB here, it seems we're always doing something. Luckily no Coronavirus here, but still lots of closings, which is good. I'm glad we are up in the mountains and can still go hiking and get fresh air.

Jan, yum, that pumpkin bread sounds so good!

Stay safe and big germ free hugs to everyone.

Ina I use the liquid soap cause my hands are useless when I wake up. Usually takes about 30 minutes before I can make a fist.

So last night I cooked the soap. I bar of soap to 9 cups of water. I just woke up so I will need to make certain it hasn't separated and then try it. I will let you all know!

Oh kiss me I am Irish! Lol ( air kisses) lol

OK. I just spoke to my doctor. With my health issues and the fact that I am allergic to 99% of the antibiotics, we decided not to have me go in for a prescription renewal. I spoke to my pharmacy that I have been dealing with since 1998 and he is gonna get everything ready. Once it is ready then grumpy will pick it up. I have about 5 days worth of meds left so I didn't want to leave it to the last minute. I am pretty happy with myself. Some days my brain is just not working and I would not have been able to figure this out.

Off to the showers for me!

 So I followed this recipe
How to make liquid soap from leftover bar soap - Clark Howard

I did start sneezing after shredding the soap you may need a mask.
I put it all in a big pot on medium and it took maybe 15 minutes for all the bits to be gone.
I used an immersion blender so there was no silt on the bottom of the pot.
Since you are not boiling it you will get at least 8 cups of liquid soap.

I always hated tossing the little leftovers away but didn't know how to make them useful! Thanks. Clark looks familiar. I think I used to watch him somewhere, but can't remember where.

Yum! Gluten free waffles with maple syrup.

Ontario, the province I live in, has declared a state of emergency so they can force places to close. If you have take out, or take away, then you can provide only that.

The borders are closed unless you live here and are returning.

On a positive note I am now on nights, more live Aussie time, and am analyze mode so if you want me to research anything let me know!

Gracie, more drinking at home

I am going to post some photos from our visit to sculptures by the sea last week. As we can’t travel the world now, I think we should bring the world in. I made 2 cards yesterday. I meant to scrap but my mojo is low plus I’ve had ocular migraines again including one this morning. I’m ok and think maybe stress related. Who knows. We are still self isolating as much as we can except food shopping and will play golf together and walk the beach path.

I was happy to see the envelope tutorial and maybe scrapbooking will have a revival. I’m into envelopes and using them at present so I will give that a go. We stay in bed later...we are laying around and just doing the same as we always did in the house. I’m not socialising with friends other than on FB and through calls. I touched base with elderly single friends today to make sure they were ok. One isn’t well but assured me she’s fine.

Our PM has asked for calm and asked for everyone to stop panic buying. We haven’t had loo rolls, hand sanitiser, soap, pasta, rice, tin goods, flour, sugar, yoghurt and now meats are low. It’s crazy. We are checking what we have and eating less and making sure we don’t waste food. Good for my diet lol.

We have had all travel banned out of Australia, visits limited to aged care homes, if at all and gatherings no more than 100.  We had 3 healthcare workers at our local hospital contract the virus. So sad.

Thanks everyone for the chat and posts. I appreciate it. It keeps me sane.

Keep well and safe. I need to make the bed...we are getting slacker every day lol

Jan, booking.com and some of the hotels aren’t being that helpful with us either. One says we can move which we wanted. One now wants a lot of money from us and the other is ignoring us. It’s very disappointing.

I saw on FB today a lady swimming in a pool at a resort in Spain I think which had been closed off by the police. She refused to get out and a policeman had to go in and pull her out. I think she was English and was shouting at them. She was a disgrace to her country. Some people are so selfish and stupid. That’s my rant for today.

I’ve had headaches on and off all week, now sneezing and hoping it’s just allergies. Maybe I need a rest lol.

Our DIL just enailed and said to leave it until nearer the time as they will eventually have to cancel, the ferries are cancelling until three days before our trip, ha,ha,
They are pretty good though so I’m not tooooo worried, when anything upsetting happens Steve always says we will look back in six months and laugh, not sure about this are you!

You wouldn’t believe that our neighbours at the back are having their olive trees trimmed, so aren’t we on lock down? I went out as he stands on our arbor, which is annoying anyway I shouted to him, we are in lockdown, it’s forbidden, he just laughed and said something to the German neighbour, serve them right if they get it because he must be going round houses so who knows what germs he is taking with him. Idiots!

Steve has just read on our Urbanización website that the council are saying that people can still go to work although if we have to go out for provisions we aren’t allowed off the Urbanización unless if for something urgent that we can’t get here and we have to keep the receipt to show the police, so why are we locked in when others aren’t, the cases in Murcia has gone up to 145 now. dont get me wrong I’d rather stay in but it seems people are still out and about spreading the virus. Sorry ranting off but it’s just got my goat, typical spanish say one thing and then some can do as they like.

I’ve made another card for the challenge, I’ve used my coordinations paper, I’ve had it for years, two pads of them, I’ve been looking around to use some of the pieces I’ve made over the years, how come not of it grabs me! Or inspired me, I put them back in the drawer.
I did finish my Harry Potter page, I love hearing our six year old GS saying Harry Potter with his Californian accent, it sounds so cute.

Morning! I posted some pictures in the PICTURE THIS thread.

I think I am weird! Lol I was talking to a friend saying I washed my purse again. She thought I was crazy. My purse is made of material and it goes every where so I wash it regularly. This is the bag I use

Yeah! So the grocery delivery company I was using is backed up at least a week!

Deep breath. So I spoke to grumpy. I ordered groceries for pickup so grumpy will pick them up after work and then we will share a pizza! It has been months since I have had one! The PI CO has gluten free ones that are quite yummy but I still can't get out there. Dominos now has GF pizza so I am gonna try it AND 50% off pizza this week!

Love those stickers Lynn..fun for scrapping too. Hope some come out here.

Still ticking along here. Would like to feel better but small thing.

Our Government has now stopped non citizens coming into our country and 2 States have closed their borders....Tasmania and the NT. We’ve just seen a group of young adults having a huge party on a beach in Florida.....!...and the US Government asking them to practice social distancing. One girl was interviewed and said they just want to keep doing what they always do...really. Don’t we all.

I read a lot today and started a scrapbook page. Tomorrow is a new day and more self isolating.

Keep well and safe everyone

I’ve been trying to finish some cards that are half started, when I go upstairs to my craft room I’m going out the opposite door and walking around the garden first as my muscles are aching with not walking, I’ve had a banana as that works for Steve.
It’s cloudy but blowing my washing so hopefully it will dry, I’ve washed all the towels so I’m hoping it doesn’t rain as it’s forecast for three days. I found out why it’s so quiet today it’s Father’s Day, usually massive celebrations and fiestas, I wondered why our pharmacy was shut, I can just see the door from the roof! My view on the world.
I’ve finished our DIL in the UKs card, that’s if I can post it of course?
A plane just came over, apparently one came from Belgium the other day with one person onboard, Steve said he wondered if they still weighed the luggage !! and our son said that would be awesome! It would be like being on a private jet! Ha,ha,

If anyone is interested I’m posting photos in the following thread from our visit to one of our beaches last week and Sculptures by the Sea. I’m playing a fun game where I post a few photos of the first sculptures and you can guess what they are depicting. I thought some fun is needed right now. Here’s the link picture t605354 22.html

Seems ridiculous to fly a plane for one passenger. Hope it wasn't a big plane!

It's not ridiculous, if you are that one person. Our government is sending a plane to bring home 22 students from Peru. Actually, I think it is 19 students and 2 chaparones.

We’ve had quite a few planes going over today, I’m assuming they are collecting holidaymakers who are stuck here as Spain isn’t allowing any one else in unless you are a citizen or have residencias, which we have.

I'll bet that one person would think it ridiculous too, if it weren't themself. I read somewhere this morning that a guy from my state is stuck in Peru. Wonder why he couldn't be added to the flight? Although you are in Canada, so he probably still wouldn't get home. I do think I read that you could cross the border to go home. So is it just Canada that closed the border and not the US?

Lynn I'm going to try your liquid soap recipe. I make bar soap with our sheep fat, coconut oil, and olive oil. I save scraps to shave and make "confetti" soap with, so have lots to use for liquid soap. I have been making our own laundry soap and hand lotion for years. when you posted about the maple syrup cookies, it reminded me that with the windows closed up, I haven't smelled Crunch Berries all winter. ( i live less than a mile from Quaker Oats and can always smell the crunch berries when they are in production)

I work at a plasma donation center. Everyday there are new procedures to keep us, and the donors as safe as possible. We are considered an essential service because of the therapies derived from plasma, so we will be open for the duration.

My mom and I were scheduled to take a long arm quilting class next week.  She got a call from the shop owner this morning that the city council in the small town the shop is in has asked all businesses to close for two weeks.  I'm disappointed not to get to spend time with my mom, but I get it and glad they notified her before she made the trip here from St. Louis.  Mom asked me if I would want to go visit her instead.  Thinking about it.  I have the time off work and she would rather not travel right now if she doesn't have to.  She is 77 and gets around pretty well.  She became a school lunch lady a couple of years ago.  Schools are out for 3 weeks in her area and other than  a quick trip to the store because she ran out of coffee she hasn't left her house since schools closed.

When I talked to my mom this morning she had seen something on the news about younger people spreading Corona virus. Being young and generally healthy when they get the virus they aren't getting severe symptoms so they are going about their daily lives and not thinking anything of it.

Kathy, according to several U.S. news feeds, it was PRESIDENT TRUMP who closed the borders to Canada. Making him a big hero, to stop the evil Canadians from going in. However, it really has been our prime minister who has been trying to get Trump to agree. I am not a big fan of our prime minister, but I do think he has been handling this fairly well.

I went out!!! Lol

I got in my car. Drove to the store. Stayed in my car and called to say I was ready for pickup. Opened the trunk. They put the groceries in. I opened my window and said thank you! Talk about social distancing.

Ina is right, I think BC was the first to close the border. Our prime minister, head of our country, is in self isolation since his wife tested positive for the virus.

According to our newspapers some “celebrities “ who were seen with Mrs Trudeau also have symptoms of the virus.

I think all Europe have closed the borders but citizens can still go home.

OK so I am weird.

A few days ago I helped the twins with a hamster funeral. Yup that is what I said. I saw them today and its the hamster's birthday. I spoke to them about a memory box. So I found 3, the cousin is there, and gave them a stack of papers.

When grumpy first dog, sparkplug, passed away I got a small wooden box for grumpy that had room for pictures. He painted it. Told me which pictures to print. He wrote a note to the dog to put inside with the dog collar. Seemed to work well for grumpy so I hope this works for them.

Doing laundry in the basement with an antibacterial wipe in my hand so that I can use the wipe to push buttons and open the doors.

Glad you are feeling well enough to plan a hamster funeral, and memory box, and to do laundry, Lynn!

Hugs, Jan! I finally decided against going to my scrap retreat even though it would have only been six of us!
