My hubby too. I go on FB but only post photos (scenes) now of our trips so family overseas can see, and quotes. Hubby says no-one cares what I ate for brekkie LOL and I was posting lots. I've been on FB 10 years (so FB tells me..LOL) but have deleted lots. My privacy levels are also set pretty high and people usually can't find me which is just how I like it.

I also have Instagram but only to follow our youngest who is travelling the world, otherwise we wouldn't know whether he was alive or not

I do worry about SCS as I usually don't post photos of myself and family online and I chat lots on here, as some ladies will agree , but I will only post what I think will be safe.

Social media is great to allow people to keep in touch but can be very dangerous. I think using it sensibly and carefully helps. Happy day

Happy day everyone. Keep warm and safe wherever you are.

so I was wrong.. here is the definition

so∑cial me∑di∑a
noun
  • websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
So based on that then SCS is social media. Ok I have my head on straight again.

Been a weird week and I think I have a huge case of stir crazy! Making myself go out once my hair is dry

Jayne and Melissa, and anyone else new or new to me, welcome. If you were on the S2S before I joined, welcome back. I hope you will enjoy the chit chat and the challenges. So greatto see how international we are .............. people from the U.S., Australia, Spain, Canada, and maybe more. Actually, Jan is from the U.K., lives in Spain and spends a lot of time with her son and family in California. How cosmopolitan is that?

Thanks Ina for the welcome...

I'm definitely a newbie to S2S and only a novice when it comes to SCS and been on the site since Apr 2016 but didn't post for a while. Some ladies wish I hadn't...LOL.

I'm also UK born and lived in Australia for 30 years (married an Aussie) but get back to the UK/Europe on average every 2 years but as we are getting older I'm trying to get back to see my family more. It's difficult when you are so far away.

I love this site and at first I thought it was only for Americans/Canadians but am finding it's definitely multicultural.

Thanks again for the welcome and challenges. Happy weekend

There are now 5 of us scrappers here: Melissa, Jayne, Joyce Ann, Lynn and I. Did I leave anyone out? Love it! Maybe one of our challenges will focus on some aspect of scrapping, but that also can be a card. What do you say, Ina?

Me too sharon, when I’m actually home, I will have so much catching up to do as I have so many photos, I haven’t joined any challenges as I’m not sure how much crafting time I will have until summer. I was contemplating taking some craft bits but It’s the weight, need room to buy new stuff!!!

So Jayne where do you come from in the uk, we are originally from Nottingham, we haven’t been back for a few years though as our eldest son lives on the south coast, we don’t have time as we travel between Spain and our sons homes, as Steve tells them, spending their inheritances.

Hi Jan, I was born in Derbyshire but our village eventually was taken over by South Yorkshire (Sheffield). When we visit we spend our time in Derbyshire as that's where my sister lives. I also have a brother in Leeds. We have friends here in Oz who come from your part of the world.

We also travel lots and are spending the kids' inheritance

Ok.. this sounds great to me because I am the queen of messes... The new Tim holtz and tonic studio mixed media crafting mat. There is a part in the video about colour changes on products.. the mat starts after that. It is long but he explains very well.

That glass mat looks awesome! I have the tonic cutter, but mine is orange and it is hard to read the measuments so yesterday I put black acrylic paint on the ruler and rubbed it in so now I can see the numbers better. I think his black rulers will be much easier to read.

Default S2S18D 'Valentine - no red'

We are drawing closer to the most romantic day of the year. Dont get me wrong, anytime you want to make a day romantic, go right ahead and it will work! To give you lots of time to get a valentine's day card made, I give you this challenge. Make a valentines day card, but do not use any red. My samples are blue and craft/beige. The beige colour would work well for men.

Good. I am glad you think so, as I will be teaching a group of young mothers tomorrow and the craft one is one of the card kits they will make. The other card will be a baby card, as there are 3 gals in our church who are expecting within the next few months, one of them being overdue.

Small world Jayne, we lived in Mansfield before we moved here and spent many weekends in Derbyshire, Ashbourne, walking up Mam Tor, we walked the edges too, froggetts etc, did you go to the village with a walk through woods with massive rhododendrons? Iím sure it isnít far from Sheffield, canít think of the name at the moment, Apparently the owner was a ships captain and bought them back from his travels, I never knew they grew so tall.
Lots of happy memories of caravanning in Derbyshire when the boys were young

Never thought in a million years we would be jetting backwards and forwards to USA or have American GSs.

Lynn I darent look at the video as I said I wasn’t going to spend too much on craft this year!

We’ve had no internet connection since Saturday night, it’s just come on, so annoying but luckily we’ve been out for lunch and had coffee where they had WIFI.

Hey gang! First off, I apologize if you see this same post across multiple threads. I'm on a time budget but wanted to let y'all know I haven't fallen off the wagon again.
Just a quick note. I've had some health issues the past week or so while getting the office finished. I have company all this week and Bob is coming home after being gone the past 5 weeks. I won't be around for the next 10 days or so but then I hope to get caught up!

Lots of happy memories of caravanning in Derbyshire when the boys were young

Never thought in a million years we would be jetting backwards and forwards to USA or have American GSs.
What a small world it is. We were at a pub near Mansfield the day before we flew back home just before Xmas....can't remember the name of it now but my sis and her hubby go there a lot as close to them.

Can't recall the rhododendrons but will check them out this summer if we get time...love them. We don't go to Sheffield as my family are in Derbyshire, but plan to check it out one year and so I can see the changes. Derbyshire certainly has some beautiful villages. If you hear me speak you would say I'm a true Yorkshire girl...LOL....never lost my accent

American GS's...awesome. I never thought I'd marry an Aussie...lol. Our youngest has met a girl in Columbia so time will tell if we get grandies that way. The world is small and wonderful.

Happy day.

Jayne, google Goyt valley, that’s where the rhododendrons are. I knew Steve would know, he is the font of all useless information, so he tells me.

Our other DIL is Polish! So our youngest GS is half polish I guess

We have a neighbour from Yorkshire and our Norwegian neighbour who speaks perfect English told me he that when he talks to her to he doesn’t understand a word she says! She is very broad Yorkshire though. our son and DIL have never picked up and American accent either, Americans ask our son if he’s Australian!

Ok.. advice... My friends... He is 87 and not very steady on his feet any more so he needs a walker... She is in her 70 and has a bad case of cellulitis/edema/gout... Her legs are about the size of an elephant legs... So she needs a walker now. When they go out she just does not have enough strength to pull 2 walkers out of the car.. any ideas?

It sounds to me like they shouldn't be going alone anywhere at this point. If she can't walk on her own, she wouldn't be able to help him if he fell. Do they have any family that could take them out once a week? They could plan all their shopping, etc for one day.
