Baby, it's cold outside! Well, warmer than it has been. I still need to go do chores.

I went back yesterday and finished compiling my list of the challenges from 2017. A couple jumped out at me so hope to get a card made on Friday or Saturday. Want to finish up a couple of projects first... including getting my planner printed out.

Morning...yup I didn't sleep last night so I had to take a nap.

Ok my brain is awake... I am pretty new to the pocket page scrapbooking and I have no supplies...so I created some! Some I recoloured..some I created.. some I just printed... but I did not go to the store and buy any pre-made... no idea what I should pay myself for that?

I thought about a nap but then I took my vitamins.

I've decided that it isn't 'turkey' that makes you sleepy, it's the sage. The recent batch of sausage gravy had too much sage in it. And both mornings I've been fine until I ate breakfast... then I wanted a nap.

I am a silly old cow sitting here giggling to myself. Sweet pea got me something for Christmas... I just got it today. Here is a picture

yes it is a bit different
nope I am not into elephants which had me stumped
the opening at the top of the elephant's head is to put your used tea bag so you don't need a plate!

I would have never thought of that!

Good morning, ladies.

Last fall I found a spiral planner at Tuesday Mornings I couldn't pass up. I thought I'd use this one for making notes on stuff I saw on youtube. yesterday, I got an idea... I might play in challenges more if I remember. Having them in front of me is the best way to go.

So I've turned this planner into my challenge planner. I can note the group/ challenge/keyword. When I do my planning on Sunday nights, I can note on my daily pages the things for that week.

Just have to get my daily planner printed/ bound today.

What's everyone else up to this weekend? Kathy, didn't you say hubby's at the cabin? How are you feeling?

Taking a class at the LSS this week. First time in a long time I'm taking a class. They have separate supplies cost and teacher fees. I think I need to add the supplies cost to my S2S, but maybe not the teacher fee. What do you all think?

I am still at Blue Mountain with two of my kids and their families. Also my ex and his son. 12 people in all. It has been too cold and windy for me to ski. Today three of us ladies are going to the plumge pool (indoor and outdoor) with the 4 youngest kids. The 19 yr old is snowboarding, my son and nephew, who lives nearby, are off on their own and my ex is staying in the chalet. I think he just came for my great cooking, ha, ha!

Yes. DH is at the cabin. He'll be home tomorrow unless his buddy has had enough of the cold and heads home. Then he'll come home early.

I donít know. I was just wondering if I should subtract my scrap retreat cost coming up in ?April. I should with the big total I have, but that is counting my room and everything. I guess we just have to figure it out! DH got my ?Cannon .selphy portable photo printer for Christmas, so I donít have to subtract that! LOL

To the ladies and friends from scrapbooking on this group who suggested I check it out this year, thank you. Is there an average value on how much you pay yourself per item?

Sounds as though I need it but not sure you ladies will thank me for joining...Melissa/Sharon/Lynn...does this mean I can't chat and less online and more doing LOL?

Happy day everyone...great idea...I just need to put it into practice.

HI Jayne, glad you found us. For me, it depends on what it is, how involved it is and how many supplies I used. For example, more for a two page LO than for a C&S card.

Thanks Angie. I've made a card this week and just completed a page LO. I may work with some figures Sharon suggested on another challenge post.

Do I need to post my work on here too or just against the challenges I follow in scrapbooking?

I'll check out the challenges from last year too as I need to make some cards...one of my goals this year.

Thanks again. Happy day

I would count the crafty retreat. And the class.

You wouldn't be going to either if you weren't "crafty". And hopefully at and after the event, you craft more.

Unless you are putting it in the "vacation" budget.

Subtract the cost, but give yourself credit for attendance - it will be a wash IF you complete the class. You'll come out ahead if you use stash and create in addition to the classwork. We pay for online classes and then don't do the classwork!

So, subtract the cost of the class and as you do each lesson, give yourself credit. It will be a wash in the end, if you do all the classwork.

Example: class costs $40 plus $20 supplies. It has 10 lessons. Subtract $60. Then as you do each lesson, add back $6 ($60 total cost / 10 lessons) for the lesson / supplies PLUS if you create / use stash in the process - give credit for whatever - card / page / etc. You also get more credit if your price list includes posting to SCS or your blog.

Here are my "prices":

Project Life spread (2 pages) - $7.75
12 x 12 scrapbook page - $10.00
Recipe page - $4.00
Card - $4.00
Altered item / embellishment set / 3-D item - $6.00
Mini album page (December Daily, Week In The Life) - $5.00

I charge papercrafting supplies as well as papercrafting classes and adhesive. This includes albums, page protectors, storage options, stamps, kits, papercrafting specific supplies & tools, etc regardless of the vendor. If I use it exclusively in papercrafting or buy it because of papercrafting, it gets charged. Glue gun - no. Metal rimmed tags where I use a couple to label USB flash drives - yes - because I wouldn't buy them for the USB flash drives if I didn't use them for papercrafting. I use a glue gun everywhere, but not so much in papercrafting - but there are techniques where I can.

I do not charge photo processing, photo printer ink or photo paper. The reason being - I'm going to process photos or print photos, whether I will scrap them or not.

I've been doing this since 2009 and just increased a couple "prices" this year.

Jayne, so glad you are joining us!

As for how I pay myself, I keep it simple. When I first started, I paid for uploading, and each challenge etc, but sometimes I did a card for 4 or challenges, and it was just too complicated for me. Thus one time credit of $3.50 for a card, $5.00 for a LO, $2.00 to post my blog or if I post a challenge. Then $10.00 for each set of gift calendars I stamp. When I make kits for our encouragement committee ladies to make cards, I credit myself $10.00 an hour, and usually it is a couple of hours of times making those kits. I think that is everything. Simple! I count, journal pages, and BAJ pages the same as cards.

Hope that helps.

I just counted my cards/BAJ/journal projects and counted 205 for 2017. So that accounts for my large totals!

Without counting blogs and challenges but just my cards/pages/gifts add up to a lot. looking at that, I spent a lot!

Thank you everyone for the ideas. As it's all new to me I will keep it simple and see how I go. Happy day

Default S2S18B challenge 'Elvis'

January 8 was the birth date of Elvis Presley. Our challenge is to make a card with an Elvis connection, whether his music, one of his movies, or anything else Elvis related. Should be easy! I have no sample as I have been away all week and will not arrive home until later tomorrow and praying that the roads will be safe. The weather here has been dreadful. I didn't even go skiing, it was so cold and windy. But I had a great time with my kids, grandsons and even my nephew and his kids. And you ladies will get a giggle out of this. My ex husband and his son were here too.

Ok Iíve got to ask, what is sausage gravy? We have gravy but with meat only on our night time meal! Never had sage on anything for breakfast!

I’ve been making cards to take with me on our next trip! Must take photos, DGS3 will be two, youngest son will be 44 while we are there and both DILs have birthdays too, been racking my brain what to make, very pleased with sons card but it took me ages to make. It’s Steve’s birthday on Friday, he’s not into birthday cards but I made him one last year so as a joke I’m going to find it and give it him again, wonder if he will recognise it!,

I used one I made for DH's birthday for a fathers day card the next year! LOL He does love my cards. I think he loves the attention he gets when he gives someone one of them!

I got the most wonderful note from a lady that used to work where he does. She said how beautiful my card (it was an easel drawer) was and how she looks forward to seeing what I will come up with the next year! She says I always outdo the previous year. I can make fancy ones for her because he hand delivers it so they can catch up on life at work since she retired years ago.

Funnily Kathy our youngest son always makes a fuss of the cards I make him so I don’t mind spending time making them for him, makes it hard thinking of new ideas to surprise him.

Beautiful card, Lynn! My eyes are on the card and not the background it is sitting on. Although, your background for that snowflake is awesome. Love it!
