Forgot to ask if you are only wanting traditional American recipes or would you like me to send you a few of my DH's, he is a great cook, my only claim to fame is my marmalade that I make from fruit from our own trees, I give most away and the favourite is kumquat, we have so many kumquats on our little tree that anyone who says they enjoyed my marmalade gets a bag of kumquats and a recipe.

Hi Jan, No sending just sharing here.

Its cool to learn all the different things everyone does. Foods, Hints, and Advice!

So what is a Huge Dinner Menu in Spain?
Here in the US its kinda common for everyone to eat Turkey for Thanksgiving. Lots of folks have Ham for Easter.

Sloppy Joe's are browned ground beef with a tomato sauce. My mother adds Gumbo soup to it.
My ex MIL used ketchup (NASTY)

Here's a site with some recipes
Sloppy Joes II Recipe - Allrecipes.com

There is also a product called Manwich, it's a sauce you add to the ground beef.

It is served on a bun

We were invited to a Spanish friends for a family get together , we had tapas which we thought was the buffet, there were chunks of bread with serano ham, cheeses, chorizo, black pudding, not sure if you would know what that is, fish dishes, pork in tomato salsa, chicken pieces , well after we had been eating for about an hour they came out with the paella !! then a selection of homemade cakes and then fresh fruit, cut into chunks on cocktail sticks, delicious, normally the Spanish here on the coast have fish for Christmas
meals. We English out here still have our turkey and pork
Next week we have our son, daughter in law and grandson flying over for a weeks holiday and they have just told us that we are to be grandparents again, very excited.

The only traditional meal in our family has gone by the wayside. DH's family always had oyster stew on Christmas Eve, then we did it for several years. But not anymore. It was just canned oyesters, cream milk and butter. I wonder how come it wen bye bye..Too rich!

Then when DH and I were first married we made peanut brittle every Christmas and continued on as a family. We even have video of us doing with the kids when they were both already not living at home. DH and I did it for a while longer then we quit, because it was too hard on our teeth! LOL The recipe was out of BH&G that I had gotten as a wedding gift.

Vikki Jo, that is about the only food traditions we have had that I can think of right now. My best friend used to fix heart shaped layer cakes and bring to us on Valentines Day. She took them to all her kids, and other friends!
