Sharon, one of the videos I watched the other day had this to say about stained gel plates:

If
something has stained the plate, then oil is the answer; baby oil or
any vegetable oil work perfectly. After cleaning with oil, wash
plate with soft soap & rinse with lukewarm water.

Jayne, how big is your gel plate that got bent?  If it is a larger one, you could cut it in half and make two smaller ones.  I would try a pizza cutter against a straight edge.

Thanks Melody for the tip. It’s 5x7. I also have the 3 shaped ones..and a 12x12 that I found the other day with my scrapbooking supplies. I’d forgotten about it and may start using that and then I can cut the panels down.  I don’t mind the crease in my prints but thought I could let the poppets have it and I use either my larger one or get a new one.  I fancy the 6x6 lol.

I’m going to make prints this weekend trying all the different techniques..not that I need more prints lol....I have a box and a bag full of them.  I love getting them out to make a quick card whether it’s for a BG or die cuts.  They come in so handy.

Have fun

I pulled my gel plate out and it is sitting on the table, but I haven't played with it yet.  Probably the last time I used it was for that DTGD challenge from 2 years ago that Sharon pulled up.

I did another card that combines MMJ04 - paper towels and MMJ06 - crayons: somewhere on the beach.

Awesome card Melody. I finally worked out what sand dollars are and have some in a bowl with seashells.

Hi everybody, I'm in a stressful period!! so I'm happy to read all the posts here and see everyone has fun and makes mess!! Suz you asked me about posca markers/pens, my children gave me a big plastic suitcase filled with different sizes and colors, but I must admit it's the white and black I use the most and the small sizes, it's like water color, you shake your pen and then you start coloring, drawing, painting, if you add pressure on the pen it makes coming the paint out (sometimes too much) and you can even mke splatters if you forget to use the cap when shaking your pen...but I love them!!
I'm going to check the mixed media challenge and will see if I can get messy today

TIP:  here’s another glue that apparently works as well as the Aleene’s clear gel tacky glue. It’s Tombow brand but not the white, it’s called Aqua mono liquid glue. I’ve not tried the stickiness of it yet but will today.

And a tip from a junk journal you-tuber, for better support of things like envelopes and pockets, use double-sided adhesive tape, then run a thin line of glue next to it. The glue will dry and prevent anything put in the pockets or envelopes from getting stuck in the adhesive tape. I ran out of the thin red tape but found Tape It! Double-sided adhesive tape at Joann’s, a larger roll for less money than the red stuff.

Here is my offering for texture paste and gel printing. I will do another gel printing one, since this one is pretty subtle, not really a featured piece:

Speaking of glue, I like Gina K Connect Glue and Nuvo glue. Tombow (the regular white) is too sticky and runny for me, I have glue everywhere.

Yesterday when we unpacked the new coffee table it had loads of polystyrene, guess who kept two pieces, it has good patterns that I thought might be good for using with texture paste!

Good morning.  Jean, I agree about the Tombow, although I still use it for small items.  For the larger projects I use that gel glue, and I love it.

Jan, isn’t it funny how your mind looks at that wrapping and immediately goes to crafting?

Ok, I have to admit that my Gelli/Geli Plate and me do not get along. So my print is ugly and weird, but I was able to turn it into something I could use and that the recipient will love.

HERE it is and it is quirky.

I was going to post yesterday about my failure to make anything with my air dry clay that I bought in England, I decided to watch a few more videos and had another go but leaving them in the mould until they were dry, it worked, now I have to find how to pant them as my clay is terracotta not white which is what I thought I had ordered, they are tiny but I’m not sure what I will do with them, LOL

Nancy and Jean, love your cards.  I love using mica flakes but don’t use them enough. Jan, yep I see possibilities in every piece of packaging I bring into the house lol.  Kandie, I always use the blue Tomgow glue. I don’t like the white one..it’s so sticky.  With the blue one you can wait minutes and it still allows you to move your project around.  I go through a lot lol although I did buy myself a small glue gun but only used it once.

Hope you all get messy today,

Default Hello

I did not end up bring my Gel plate with me to COlorado- I am going to try to get back with just a carry on......  and, with a 17 month old, not much time to create for my DIL.... Love seeing the prints posted- and also loving all of the tips!

We are on the desert like side of COlorado- just 20 minutes from Utah....and they rarely have snow, and today- SNOW!!!  LOL  Tomorrow, forecast is 20 degrees!

img_8649.jpg

We are OK with the weather- as we are here to see our grandson, not to run around and tour : )  Loving every minute!

Inky hugs to all

Shelly

We have a little snow today, just enough to cover the top of the bird feeder but not much else.

I did another gel printing project, using today's TLC, a fancy fold. It's really a cool fold. I used two new gel prints I'd made a little while ago and then some scraps to cut the leaves.

I stumbled across this forum and made some gel plate cards. Thanks for looking. Is there a way to know when this challenge gets posted since it is not part of the Weekly Inklings? It seems very fun.

I tried DO inks on my plate today..it was fun...I like that those inks stay wet longer than others and they have more vibrant colors.

I combined the Teaparty Tickle with this challenge...Here is it : I Did Something Today

That's a winter wonderland Shelly! Enjoy your visit. The snow we got is melting sort of....it's was 14 degrees when I got up this morning..they're promising a warm up in a day or so....better be

Polly love your card and yay to keeping jimjams on all day LOL.  Thanks for the tip regarding Dox inks.

I still haven't got to my play room, but now have caught up and finally loaded up a card I did for the alpha challenge.  Now onto getting messy.

Have fun everyone

Aaaand here’s the next project, a wildflower junk journal for DD2.  I have the front, back covers and spine done, and have started the inside sections.
