Jan I would be turning the trays upside down and using them on my gelli plate too lol. I’m always looking at stuff and thinking ooh that would make a great print. I have another challenge to share with you all...can’t share it yet but it’s so cool and can save you all money. Even better.  I’ll add it to the list.

Tomorrow get out your plates or not and make some prints.  Whoohoo

Kandie I didn’t reply about chalkinks, they are creamy I think compared to the others,I love the dewdrop ones as they have lovely colours.

Jayne I ready to get my plate out, can’t remember the last time I used it!!!
As for saving money, bring it on!

Mind you she didn’t put as much colour in so maybe that’s why it’s. Heaped, LoL

Thanks for all your encouraging words. I know, I have little to complain about, considering. I'm hoping we all come away from all of this with a new appreciation for our family and our relatively comfortable lives. As you've probably figured out, I don't have a significant other, divorced, live alone, can't even have a pet as I rent. Last night I was watching The Yorkshire Vet on Acorn tv, I was thinking I could get a guinea pig but I have no idea where I could put a cage. Pretty small place. I did reach out to my siblings, telling them what was going on with me, my brother and I had a nice chat on the phone. He lives in Holland, MI and my sister, while living close by, works in healthcare and is super overwhelmed. I haven't hugged her since Christmas and barely have seen her. I haven't hugged my son since shortly after Christmas and he doesn't live that far away. Sigh. But I am heading to see my grands this weekend and that should help. We will just stay home and eat all weekend. Liz is making me a pumpkin pie and I'm going to make apple crisp. I'm eating way too much comfort food.

I stopped coloring my hair years ago, I couldn't afford the hairdresser treatment, tried coloring myself, did a rotten job, decided to give over to nature. So a haircut once a month, done. I don't like to fuss over myself, I am what I am, that's all that I am. I do love my haircuts though.

Jean, I'm getting my first haircut in over a year. I just keep putting it up in a clip. I haven't colored my hair in over 5 years. I swear I have every color of hair on my head from white to brown. It is what it is. I'm like you...don't like to fuss over myself. I wouldn't even be getting a haircut, but a friend gave me a gift certificate for her hairdresser...she must think I need a trim. LOL It's at 8 a.m. and she has only one customer at a time, as she has a small shop of her own. I also hate spending money on hair...the cost has gone up so much in the last 10 years!

Jean, I hope you enjoy your time with your grands! I miss my granddaughters. It can be lonely, but thank goodness we have each other here on SCS. It is a lifeline. Sending big hugs your way!

I’m the opposite. If my hair’s not right, I’m not lol.  I grew up in the UK and read an article by a famous hairdresser who said a woman only needs a good cut to look amazing and the cut when wet should shake back into place. I always used to go and get a good cut and that quote has stayed with me. Vain I know but it’s the one thing I won’t compromise on, although I did let it grow and the colour grow out during lockdown but DH and the kids kept telling me to go and get it done. I was glad I did lol.   I think if I had long hair it would be different but long hair doesn’t suit me.  I’d just have it in a pony tail anyway lol.

Today is my challenge everyone....I just have to kick start my brain into gear. I keep changing my mind on the videos plus I don’t have samples so will do those first.  Have fun

I will be back with my samples later.

Have fun.

Jayne I’m the same as I have short hair, it soon  grows thick and messy so I need a cut, I still have highlights as you say the family think it’s strange if my hair goes dark, my DIL in England commented that she’d never seen my hair so long during lockdown, makes me feel untidy!
Long hair really doesn’t suit me, I wish it did!

Here are some panels I pulled out of my stash.  The ones at the back and in the separate photo are what I made today.  The others I made over the past 2 years, some with stencils, household items or just rolling paint in different colours.  I have another bag full LOL.  I use either CS or greaseproof paper for my prints.

For the ones I made today I did just one pull on some CS and on a couple took 2 prints.  I’m not overly happy with them...maybe the bright one.  I used the empty tube from a paper towel roll and have stuck some bubble wrap, mesh, gauze on and rolled that across my plate.  I also used 2 separate empty pill wrappers...they give some cool circles, a wall plug (out of DH’s tool box), a q-tip, a die cut, string and drywall tape.

I don’t plan on remaining a stalker in this forum for long. My elderly in-laws just relocated to AZ from ID and are staying with us until end of October when their house closes.  It’s hard to take time away from the family right now. I’m having fun watching the videos, seeing everyone’s lovely creations and reading the chatter. Can’t wait to get inky!

Default Kandie - love it!

Kandie,
I love that journal, agree that it is so soft/feminine and will be so cherished by DD.   I was thrilled to see your craft room and realize that i am in good company : )   i swear somedays i spend more time looking for the stuff that is buried beneath layers right in front of me, than the craft/card, itself.  haha

i have been so busy with fall cards, i have been out of this loop. it was nice to catch up and hear about you all.

Love all the challenges, just need to find the time.
Chin up to all of you, difficult to feel connected even to our local friends, i probably feel as connected to my SCS friends even more, right now.
haven't ever Zoomed, but maybe someday a MMJ  Zoom chat could be fun for us all : )

stay well,   Teresa

Default Hello

Waving hello to all!

Ohhh. have to get over and check out the new challenge : )   I thing playing with the gelli plate will be fun and relaxing!
Jayne- new profile picture???

I cannot leave my hair too short- it is wavy and very think and has a mind of its own!  Lots of colics too.  Plus, my head is too big for short hair...lol  I usually keep it a little longer than shoulder length.  My hair salon has increased a haircut to $52.00.......  Holy guacamole.....  I think that is pretty expensive!

Kandie- your creative space looks beautiful- even with the desk covered!

Jan- love the pattern on your tile.

Jean- I am with you- so quiet some days!  Even though hubby is home with me, he works all day...
We are lucky- have lived in the same neighborhood for years and on our end of the block, the newest neighbors, right next door,  have been here 20 years!  We all watch out for each other and wonderful people. We can talk across the yards or via texts too..... This weekend, there is a baby shower for a young lady we watched grow up : )  When her dad spoke at her wedding, my hubby had tears in his eyes.......

Waving hello to all- off to check out the challenge!

Shelly

I haven’t been crafting, we put together the TV unit, the one that steve said would take an hour! Ha,ha three hours later ! Mind you steve did spend ages putting the TV back and the digi box didn’t work, luckily the spare one was in my craft room cupboard, he’s still fiddling with it as all the channels have moved since January when we took it all apart.
Looks lovely but need a coffee table to match, the one we wanted wasn’t in stock.

Jan, I can’t say much as my craft room and my habit of hoarding is probably worse than DH’s.  His is the garage and there’s even stuff of mine and the kids in there LOL.  Hope you are having a nice weekend.  I got inky today...I’ve been slapping, spreading, doing anything that would work LOL.

Just been walking, shopping, bought a new coffee table but doesn’t arrive until next week, bought a new lamp but decided to use that in the lounge and the old one in the conservatory, matches quite well, honestly there were so many lamps, too much choice, in The end steve said look Jan just  pick one, any one! Ha,ha, the one I liked, the first one I saw steve said the base wasn’t stable enough!

Just finished painting the teak oil on the roof of the arbor and having five mo utes before having a play with my gelli plate, watched a video this morning using alcohol inks, might give that a whirl.

Ok I got inky!  I think I need about 10 more brayers, because I got tired of wiping off the paint, and I sure had a mess, but it was FUN!!!  Will post them as soon as a dog gets off my lap.

Jayne, your photo is gorgeous!!!

Kandie I think the same, sick of cleaning mine too, I found out I don’t have many colours to use, mainly purples, ha,ha, the GSs would laugh as they all know that’s my favourite colour

I have loads of ideas until I start and then my mind goes blank!

Thanks Dagmar...DH can make something look ok lol.  Hope your DH is going ok. Keep safe and well.

Kandie, great prints.

The experts say the secret to gelli printing is not to use too much paint or ink.  I have found that I roll off a lot onto scrap paper and when I pull the prints my plate is pretty much clean. My brayer is usually ok and even though it has paint on it and I wash it occasionally it still is ok.  I’m wondering whether you ladies might have put too much paint on your plate..just a thought. I’m no expert but I watch a lot of videos by the experts....*wink*

Another tip I found was after the first pull to add a little white and do a second print...gives such a cool effect and even with another colour and white.

I also used baby oil to clean my plate the other day as it had a little paint around the edges.  Came off like a dream but one lady on a video said to leave all the paint as it gives interest. I had until now.

Our DGD bent my plate in half whilst she was watching me and DGS do something else weeks ago. She was fiddling with it and said she loved how squishy it was lol.  You should have seen my face lol.  My jaw dropped. Now I get a line across every print I make so guess who will be buying a new plate and giving their old one to the poppets. I didn’t have the heart to say much to her except that every little mark stays on the plate.  DGS said..cool lol.

Jayne, yikes, bending the gelli plate! I was taking paint off and putting it on a separate piece of paper, I actually made a BG with it but have to do more work on it, I made a couple I quite like, the second by doing what you said, putting white paint over it and pulling a second print.

I had fun, I’ve cut them down as the edges were so messy!

Jan, I also keep the paper that I roll off onto and used one once on a card in my gallery LOL.  Sometimes they end up like mud, but others have pretty colours.  I love putting the white on and it does give a nice effect.  Glad you had fun.  I made 4 cards for my WTUI challenge....really quick and easy ones.  I just have to assemble/glue them together but all done and pleased with them.  I also did one for this coming week's WTUI challenge and which I can put against the Beach Alpha thread...I love to double up LOL. Crafting took my mind off my itch LOL.

I can now focus on other stuff as I've done all my samples.  I need to get onto my card for Gracie's challenge and then I'm up to date.  Yay.

Looking forward to seeing what you made.  My sister has just told me that they are back in lockdown...eek.  It just never ends does it.  Take care

Jayne, I’ve just been playing, I’ve quite a few pieces some I like some not but maybe I can add stamps to them, one acrylic ink was like gel it had gone so thick!

Oh dear I feel for your sister, it’s pretty quiet here thank goodness, my friend says she feels safer here now it’s quiet although they fly home on Wednesday and they haven’t fixed the leak yet!
We had the water company digging our road up last night, a leak, they were still doing it in the dark, we thought the water was from our neighbours garden .
