I just realized that I finished the cards for round 8 and didn't upload all of them. I shall work on that tonight.

Ann - wow, your GD has three boyfriends? Ooh-la-la! I'm sorry you will miss meeting them...and seeing if they pass the grandma test! Grin. I'm thankful you have avoided your son's sickness, may it stay that way and may he get healthy!

Kathy - I wondered while I was at work if your son got to have his Arby's sandwiches. So glad that he did. Yay!

Annette - oh my goodness, that is an "are you kidding me?!" story about your altered book. Word!

Kathy - what an adorable awwww!

Wow Annette that's just wrong. However, that does bring me to a question for everyone:

I am sure a lot if not all of you have bins of cards and things people have made you. What do you do with yours? What would you want done with a card you made for someone else? Me, right now they are still in bins....as far as what someone should do with one I made...if you are a card maker as well I say take a pic of it then take it apart and use all the embellishments on your own creation. You could even send it to me to show me what you came up with. How would you answer these 2 questions?

Kandie - I have the ultimate ho-hum story for you. I have an altered book picture in my gallery. It is my first time attempt at book folding. Last year for mother's day, I decided to take it up a notch and do a slightly more elaborate design on 2 more. One for my mom and one for David's. I spent countless hours shaping each page and flower petal by hand. My mom was thrilled and showed it to anyone who would stop to listen. When I phoned my MIL to see if she got hers, her reply was "Oh yes! I have taken all the flowers off so I can read the book." I thought she was kidding. Nope. Won't be sending her anymore handmade gifts.
Do you have any basic instructions for the folding?

Just finished uploading my round 8 cards. I'm really impressed with myself for getting all caught up.

Dani - I have mine tucked away in bins if they have a lot of embellishments and in a photo album with pocket pages.

Yes. That is indeed what I am talking about. That one isn't even as detailed as the one that was disassembled. My MIL is in the early stages of dimentia though so I just did the smile and nod (after a brief cry for all the time put in).

Melody - As far as folding goes, you just fold all the pages in to the center of the book to create the cylinder. There are a number of other ways to fold to create different shapes. There are also tons of ways to do cut and fold designs. Just google book folding. I get my books from the discard area at the library so they are either free or really cheap.

The other funny thing about the book story is that she kept all the pieces, so I offered to put it back together for her when we were there last summer. She said "No! I haven't read the book yet!" It was a book that had really cool end pages and that's why I chose it. It's not even a story that I think she would enjoy. She insists that books are for reading, not decoration.

Thanks for the love on my folded book! If it inspires anything, I'd love to see it. Heading to bed to read and then call it a night. Happy, crafty, dreams everyone.

First of all, Annette, I would be So Angry, then I would be Upset at all the work, and maybe Months Later, I would understand. But it would be a long road to forgiving.

Catherine, DH thought your picture was hilarious!!!

Kathy, so exciting for your DS! Almost done!

Btw, Annette, I love anything to do with books, including book art. I would have had your project hanging up on my wall quicker than it took you to fold the first page.

I still haven’t heard from DD1 as to whether or not she received her resin keychain.

Good morning, everyone. Today is the 16th, so the additional sale’abration items are available.

We watched an Inspector Lynley mystery last night on Amazon. Now DH is getting the characters mixed up with Miss Marple! Catherine, my next Netflix DVD arrived yesterday. It’s a Poirot mystery with Peter Ustenov playing the title role. And the perfect Englishman, David Niven, is in it as well.

Well, last night I made what was supposed to be our Valentine's dinner. Grilled a couple of strip steaks and some loin lamb chops, made a salad with arugula (I LOVE arugula- I can eat it plain!), and also grilled onion & red bell pepper. While I am a very good gook, I'm not perfect at timing meat to the doneness I prefer, and last night I nailed both meats! YAY! Perfect medium steaks, perfect medium lamb chops. I was SO proud of myself!!!

G'morning Crew. Oh Annette, I think I would have been livid and in tears. Especially since she ended up not even reading the book. Just curious...was she a school teacher?Ladies, I love your ideas on what to do with cards sent ...
Pat, congrats on the lovely dinner. I only know how to make steaks medium...luckily that is how Ron likes his.

Ron comes home today and he has requested a peanut butter lava cake. I have never made one of these so this should be interesting. I need to go to the grocery store and pay bills then with any luck I'll make a great lava cake. I will check in later. Enjoy your day ladies. Hugs and Prayers!!

Good morning all! I have a busy day today. First it's a phone call to my mom while I finish my tea. A quick shower follows and I'm off for a massage. I finally get my hair cut this afternoon (my hairdresser is on maternity leave and I have to go to someone new). Hopefully this works out. With my hair having such tight natural curls, it's hard to find someone who knows how to handle it, especially in a small town. My only other option is a 2 1/2 hour round trip. I figure it's only hair and will grow back. I have to do laundry and clean the house too. My son and his wife are coming over for home made pizza and games night. Looking forward to it. Better get cracking. Happy Friday all!

Morning everyone!

Checked in with our doctor and he is prescribing tamiflu for both my DH and myself so we don't get the flu. Little did I know that they can be proactive with the flu and give you the prescription early to ward it off if someone in your household has it.

Off to eat breakfast and hopefully make a card or two!

Annette - sadness when someone does that to your art work! I have an aunt like that always has to tell me she throws my cards away. I just tell her that's ok, I made it for you, what you do with it is your business.

Good morning! Well, I have an unusual day before me. The girls are at school but they normally get out at 12:30 pm on Fridays. Today, they still get out then but almost immediately go into a final practice for the play so I don't pick them up until 4:30 pm. DH is at work so this means I have an entire day to myself at home! Yay! This hardly ever happens. I love my family and love spending time with them...and realize that soon the girls will be out on their own so I'm enjoying my time with them. However, I also love being home alone and it is rare that I get it. I wish I could play all day but, if I use my time wisely, I can chores done and have a fair amount of time to play. I should be practicing music for my women's conference in a few weeks that I am part of the music team....

Kandie - glad DH liked that photo. I saw it and immediately thought of your DH. I don't think I've seen Peter Ustinov in the role of Poirot and now that I'm such a fan of David Suchet in that role, I'm not sure I could evaluate him fairly.

Pat - Yay on your meal turning out perfectly!

Dani - a peanut butter lava cake? Sounds challenging but I'm sure you can do it.

Annette - sounds like a lovely day...especially the massage part!

Hello to Ann and Kathy!

Missing those who haven't posted recently and praying for Jennifer! Talk to you later!

Like your comment on the prayer spreadsheet Kathy...it does seem there are so many that need prayers that one forgets one here and there...a spreadsheet sounds like a good idea. I'm so visual/ hands on that as I made the spreadsheet their names and why they need prayers would actually stick in my mind better!

I Googled amaranth too...the bloom colors remind me of Stampin' Ups Raspberry Ripple and Rich Razzleberry.

WOW! sure wish everyone could feel better. Several of my children, their spouses, and my little granddaughter (soon to be one)...theirs has been a bad cold and a bit of a fever, but no body aches...so guess they don't have the flu. I have been trying to avoid it like the plague between my DH, DD, and DS coughing and sniffing around me!

I need a head examination yesterday! I entered my DD's Valentine card for Round 8, Letter P and totally forgot to enter it into the Alpha forum...what's up with that! For some reason, I realized it this morning...so correction made. Now, I need to go back and see if I forgot to put it in the Free For All!

Laughing at Pat's comment about Boss and GOD....fortunately my husband can be pretty mellow most of the time, because definitely my Mom had a GOD complex at times..."because I told you to" was a comment I heard several times growing up....and I do believe I repeated to mine when I reached the end of my rope being reasonable!

My demo friend and I went out to our LSS. I spent nearly $60. Found some oxides (3) that I wanted! Also lots of other other goodies. She has 25% off all her mounted stamps, which is a million! I bought one with a candle so I can finish my Christmas card challenges for the year!

I spent the morning cleaning the house. There is more to do but I think I'm done for now. After lunch, hopefully, I'll get some time to craft. Last night I spent my Christmas gift from my youngest. I've been waiting for Simon Says Stamps to have a sale. Now I can't wait for it to come in!

Catherine,

So my superpower had me in a tizzy last night. The $49 stretch denim leggings I wear constantly were on clearance, and then half off that. $9.49 a pair. DH is adamant that we are cutting corners until after our trip to England. "NO spending, nothing nonessential" I find clothing essential, by the way. He has indicated though, that if I can scrounge the money out of the food budget, I can spend it any way I want. Soooo, 9 pairs of jeans for $108.40. Isn't it lucky that I have $110 leftover from last month???

I ordered 5 pairs in white. (I have plans...) I had bought a bunch of white short sleeve shirts, with an eye to dyeing shirts & shorts to match. Yippee! I'm in business now! (Yes, I said shorts, yes, I bought pants. I have scissors and a sewing machine. Why pay $20 for shorts on sale, when I can cut off pants that cost less than $10?)

I've been bingeing on Masterpiece Theater's Victoria, second season today. Watched the first 4 episodes. I loved the first series, and I'm loving this one as well. Jenna Coleman is wonderful in the role. I am stunned by how Diana Rigg looks, though. I hope outside of this role she looks less haggard! I used to love her in The Avengers {TV, not Marvel movies, of course. Explaining in case anyone is too young to remember Mrs. Peel & Mr. Steed.)

DH must have liked it, he kept asking if I was going to take a picture and post it.
