Thrift store or garage sales, or sometimes library book sales. Used book store maybe, we have one that does bag sales to clear inventory. Last day of estate sales, when the prices go way down, too. It's not too hard to find hard cover books cheap.

Kathy, when I did my first one, I just folded all of the pages in to the spine and then decorated it. I used decorative paper on the inside of the cover. Make sure to do that first if you are using them.

Here are a few links:
Hope that helps. Have fun!

Made cards today, even though I don't feel that well yet!! Had to, the withdrawal was killing me!! Some are very simple though, but I really wanted to get cards out for the teapotters challenges.

Those book folds look so interesting, however I unloaded all my old books years ago.

Although, maybe when I take a load to Goodwill I will pick one up!!

And on the subject of long videos, I watched one last night where the instructor had these incredibly long, sharp, black nails, and I missed parts of the video just staring in horror at those nails. And she kept saying every sentence, “so, guys...”. In fact, the comments were “guys?” and “ditch the nails, they are too distracting!” And yes, I moved the dots until I could figure out what it was she was trying to do! And I gave the video a thumbs down, I’m afraid.

When I first started doing videos I used to stress over making sure my nails looked nice first.. that's why there are so few of them up.

Then at the Academy Awards I noticed how many big name stars did NOT have artificial nails. They were short like mine with a nice polish.

So I'm working on mine every week. Hopefully, no more artificial nails.

Yay, new NCIS tonight. I'll watch it later. Since we no longer have cable, I have to catch it online on the website...and it is only available for a few weeks unless you have CBS All Access, which I don't.

Good morning! DH is off to get taxes done. He said hes going to tell the tax accountant he has to be done by a quarter to ten, because he has to be home to watch Lets Make a Deal!

Today is his 74th birthday. He is a bit bummed at the number. His ornery brother called him before 7 AM to wish him happy birthday, hoping to wake him up. They have this tradition, his DBs birthday is the end of February, so DH sends him a silly card. Then the DB crosses off DHs signature inside and sends it back to DH on HIS birthday. Its a family joke how stingy with money his DB is, wont even buy a new card, just sends back the one he received, lol.

Thanks for the book sculpture tutorials above! I watched them this morning. Im in the mood to make a little polymer clay elf again, so Im going to try the fairy house today.

Btw, I went to Joanns yesterday to buy Tombow glue because HL doesnt carry it, and they seem to be thinning out even more their papercraft area as well.

How is everyone today?

Too funny about the card. Sounds like that sense of humor is a family trait.

They aren't thinning out so much as all the areas are getting a total make-over. It's a result of needing new set-ups for the new products coming out from Creativation. This is an annual event. Clearance abounds!

we have satellite. I record several shows that Bob and I watch together when he's home. I'm forever telling folks 'no spoiler alerts' when he's gone because i don't watch them til he gets home.

Kandie, the card thing is exactly what DH and his brother did for years! He is gone now and DH really misses him! Tell your hubby HB! . My DH will be 75 in May. I don’t know when I can craft as I have to keep everything clean. Listed our house on Monday and already had two showings. I have it so neat and clean that I am afraid to even sit! LOL. Last night I was going to fix meatloaf for dinner, but since we were having a showing, I didn’t want to mess up or smell up kitchen, so we went out! Hey, this could be a good thing! LOL

Good morning! There is a slight break in the rain this morning...hopefully Honey will take advantage of it.

Happy birthday Des! I hope your day is marvelously blessed!

Happy birthday to your DH too, Kandie!

Kandie - that is too funny about your DH and his brother. Guys are so funny!

Sharon - I feel your pain about wondering when you can craft again. I remember feeling that way when our house was on the market. I didn't realize you were selling your house. Where are you moving?

Kathy - when I opened my copy of the SCS newsletter, as usual, I clicked through to the tutorial gallery and found your gorgeous birthday card there. So pretty!

I hope Kathy and Ann are feeling better! Jennifer too!

Linda - praying for you, your mom, and your entire family.

I am still getting that dumb Amazon add! It pops up and the only way to get out of it is to close SCS window! I will try to see if I can post before it pops up again.
We are just downsizing, Catherine, we will look for something near that we can rent and DH won’t have to do outside maintenance on. We want my craft room and washer and dryer all on main floor. Not ready for an apartment, though. We want our attached garage. We have looked at so many places for about a year, and finally decided now is the time. That is why I have been purging and cleaning, and cleaning and purging for the past 6 months in anticipation of doing this.

Happy Birthday DES!

Happy birthday des! I'm sorry i didn't get a card out but I didn't have it on my list! I'll try to get one out soon.

Little man was sick today. Really sick. Bad runny nose so bad it made him throw up. He kept saying I don't feel good. And he wanted mommy or Grammy. He's never like that. Finally took a nap after some benedryl. I have a sore throat. I'm allergic to dogs and niece has two. I came home and threw all my clothes into the washer and took a shower! Dh is bringing Chinese home for supper.

Kelly,

Thank you so much for the stamped images AND including the fish stamp! That was very generous of you. Your help is much appreciated.

Pat

HELLO everyone! As usual...I've been AWOL. Way behind on chatter...so sorry!

My darling granddaughter had her first birthday celebrated this week...Saturday. Sunday we celebrated my oldest son's birthday. Been busy making cards for them, ice cream cakes for GD BD and cheesecake for son. Shopping for presents, etc.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DES!!!

Linda, sounds like you have your hands full! My Mom (92) had cataract surgery a couple of years ago, and it went really well...no pain...quick recovery. I stayed just to help her with all the drops and she had the other eye done three weeks later. Praying all will go just as well for your Mom!

My right knee replacement coming up this Tuesday...I'll be out of commission on my FAVs duties for several months and crafting...can't get upstairs to craft room or sit with legs down to long or they SWELL...at least that was my experience last year with the left one.

Though I've been gone...still been thinking about all of you...there's just not enough time in the day it seems! I'm still wanting to finish Round 8...I have about 5 to go. I wasn't going to start Round 9 until I was finished with Round 8, but couldn't resist and I'm going to do Letter A, because I used the amaranth (raspberry rose) color in my son's birthday card that I'm going to publish today or tomorrow.

Oldest DD and I went to a wine & paint event last night...such fun! We painted a field of colorful flowers with trees in the background. For not being an artist AT ALL, it didn't turn out too bad!

I'm going to my last cardmaking event this Sunday, just before being out of commission...I'm really looking forward to it! Knowing me, I'll have to remodel the cards to make them more me...can't seem to stop myself, so I usually bring a lot home undone so I can change them a bit before everything gets glued down! Oh, well it's still a lot of fun to go and visit as well!

Got to run get my hair cut, so will try to get back to catch up on the chatter from a ways back!

Sharon - that is the way to do it, clean and purge BEFORE putting it on the market. We never seem to get that to happen so we end up moving things we'd get rid of if we had more time. Of course, thankfully, we haven't moved much in our almost 31 years of marriage.

Linda - is your mom's eye surgery cataract surgery? That is a surgery that they do a lot and it is rare that there are complications. I used to work in the purchasing department of a hospital and ordered many lenses for that type of surgery.

Kathy - poor Little Man! I hope he gets well quickly!

Carlene! So glad you popped in, good to hear from you and will keep you in prayer for your knee surgery.
