Happy, Happy Birthday to you Gracie. I hope you are enjoying your day!

Catherine, thanks, we had a great thanksgiving dinner and visit with another couple!

Very windy today but got out for our walk. Decided to wear our toques so they wouldn't blow off our heads. I think it is a Canadian name as in the U.S. you just call them hats?

Jan, that is cool weather for you!

Hi to all!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I opened my beautiful cards today! Such fun! Of course, I went to write thank you's on SCS and my internet was down...sheesh! Back up for now.

I'm going out to eat with the neighbors at a restaurant that has an outside patio for dining. Fish tacos...I love them.

I have to run, been getting phone calls from family and friends all day...I haven't been on the phone so much in one day!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Hi everyone! Just a quick note to let you all know my brother's knee replacement surgery went well. They've already had him up and walking a little bit. Thanks for your prayers, please continue!

It's amazing how quickly they get you up and moving after the knee replacement!

Kathy I’ve done all those courses too. I used to know excel well and DH is a guru...or was, but we now have pages and numbers and had to teach ourselves those. If anyone knows Photoshop well I’d be keen to have some tips. We bought the package years ago, upgraded it in June and I’ve used it once. I now teach myself through YouTube videos lol.  I love learning new stuff.

Catherine glad your brothers surgery went well.

Happy Wednesday everyone. We haven’t started well and DH missed an appointment. Our brains aren’t in gear at present. Oops.

Sharon, here’s info about a frangipani..that is the leaf I used out of my garden.  We don’t have flowers on our tree..it’s rarely flowered and as non gardeners we don’t know why. A lot of houses have them in their gardens.

I went to start a card and my paint is just about finished that I want to use so I’m popping to get a new tube as I have to go to the PO and collect something for DH. Then I’m having a haircut.  I had to cancel it last week and today is it. Then I’m playing. Have fun everyone

Jayne that’s a gorgeous plant and smells good too, shame you done get the flowers, maybe Mr Google can tell you why!

Catherine , good news about your brother, they do get people up and walking quite quickly, a friend of ours had a hip replacement and they did the same, although he said it was agony!

Happy birthday, Gracie!

I was an executive secretary for years and knew all those programs as well, even DOS.  Who remembers WYSIWYG?  It stands for What You See Is What You Get.  That was so much fun!  And DOS always made me feel like a programmer.  Having a blog and inserting different embedded programs forced me to remember that stuff, but I haven’t had a blog in years.  I loved the fonts on WordPerfect and was sorry when the company went strictly to Word programs.  I did use Photoshop for years and created a lot of art for my sisters that I printed out and framed.  However, when I checked it out a few years ago, it had all changed so much.  I’m not sure how to use it anymore.

Melody, if you love to make boxes, then by gosh, make boxes!

Jan, what a mess your DS’s neighbor has.  I’m so sorry for her difficulties.

Is anyone else having severe sinus problems with all these huge gaps in temperatures from night to day?  It’s 41 now and supposed to get up to 71.  My head and chest can’t keep up with the changes!

Back to work on journals today.  The one I made for DD1 is now my sample, because she tells me she doesn’t like pink roses, only red and yellow.  I do have one bg print that I’m going to try to tint the roses red with a light watercolor wash.  If it doesn’t work, then I’m not sure what to do, maybe check the various craft stores for papers for red roses.

Have a very good day, ladies.

Good morning ladies.

Kandie, have you checked out The Graphics Fairy?  There are tons of free printable images.  They also have a premium membership.  I don't know what all that gives as a benefit, but it's about $10/mo.

I remember WYSIWYG! I also remember getting floppy disks with clip art on so I could insert pictures into a newsletter I did. Actually several newsletters. I started a volunteer newsletter at a local hospital where I volunteered for 20 years. Then I did a newsletter from our former pastor  and family who was a missionary in Sao Paolo Brazil. Iwas his home liason for the church.a

Good morning! Woo hoo! I am caught up on grading...yay! Now to catch up on sleep...ha, funny.

They kept my brother overnight, apparently they weren't planning to, but when they got him up to walk, he was dizzy and his BP dropped. He thinks it was just because they had just given him a pain pill and he was reacting to it because he was fine after that. I'm sure he'll have significant pain as my friends who have had it done have reported that. He first broke that leg years ago riding my other brother's unicycle. It was one where the seat was 6 ft up so he always climbed the tree in our front yard to start out. My oldest brother did that (they were both excellent unicyclists) and, unfortunately, hit a little rock or something in the yard and down he came. He then had a sky diving accident in 1996 which did further damage to that leg (one leg was in a full top to bottom cast, the other was from the knee down). So he was bone on bone and needed the replacement. I'm just thankful to still have him around!

I use Excel all the time but this spreadsheet has things in it that were above my knowledge base. Things like vlookup that I had never used before. Youtube is an excellent place to gain knowledge and it definitely helped.

As for Word vs. WordPerfect, I MUCH preferred WordPerfect, just a superior program. Though the last time I saw WordPerfect they had made it more like Word. I don't think they understood that the reason they lost market share wasn't that Word was better. It was just part of the Microsoft office bundle that Microsoft sold extremely cheaply to businesses.

Jayne, I'm not a gardener either so wouldn't have a clue why you don't get the beautiful flowers!

Kandie, that means you get to keep the beautiful pink roses journal, right?

Do you ladies print a lot of paper to use?

Well, off to work. Chat with you later!

I used to print my own paper but it used way too much ink. So now what I do is make my own DSP with stamps.

Kathy, that stamped BG is gorgeous!

Jayne, I love plumeria...I wonder why yours does bloom...maybe it needs a mate!

Catherine, so happy your DB is still here after all his accidents! Wow! I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I have an old Word program...I don't know much about programs like excel. I'm lucky that I can upload a picture! When I first started typing, I used a manual typewriter...so I've come a long way! Ha ha! I even worked for a bank "key punching" trays of cards to be loaded into a HUGE computer. Boy, technology sure has evolved when you think of how tiny things are now!

Mahjong here this afternoon. Better run! Have a wonderful day!

Morning all!

Not feeling too energetic this morning, but we are just back from a walk. Ann, at least the wind is gone here!

Gracie have you eaten at that restaurant before? And did you still get the fish tacos or have something different?

Kathy, you created some awesome dp there!

Catherine, glad your brother has certainly been active! Wishing him a good recovery.

Kandie- that is disappointing to make that journal for your dd and only to find she does not appreciate it.

Going to go look for my mojo, lol!

Sharon, you're welcome!  LOL

I don't know much about excell either, just enough to be dangerous.  I know there are things you can do with it that make certain tasks super easy, but I've never used them enough to become proficient, or even to remember from one time to the next.  When I was working on call for DH, he always had to explain what I needed to do, and got frustrated because I couldn't remember since I "did it last year"... duh!

I use Open Office, which is free, but somewhat limited.  I always save everything with .doc at the end, so if I send someone a document, they can open it in word.

I don't print papers, because DH is frugal about changing the ink cartridges and the color usually comes out funky, depending on which color is getting empty.  But I suppose if I really needed to print something like that, I could copy the file to a flash drive and take it to Office Depot for them to print.

Linda, as far as I can tell, they both are in your gallery.  I have found that the search for keywords doesn't always work.  But if you click on 'my gallery' on the side, your gallery shows up, so you can see whatever you have uploaded, since every single thing you upload will be in your own gallery, regardless what gallery you assign it to.  The magic of digital images.

Do put comma between keyword and no space right? And i search ABC14 did not show up and type in the search box  ABC14hotwheels and not here... What I am go wrong I put the keyword.... it's showing up my gallery but no in the category

no commas in the keyword.  That's exactly what I'm talking about not working.  I can't search for mine either.  There are still issues with site upgrades.  I personally don't think that search is all that critical, just convenient.  I always try to put my main keyword as part of the card title, so it is possible to browse through my gallery and find the cards, just not as quick as a search.

Hi Linda,
I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but you typed in the keyword as  ABC14hotwhhels, rather than hotwheels. Otherwise, I don't participate in this challenge so I'm of no help! Looks like a really fun challenge though.

If they aren't showing up in the alpha gallery it's because you didn't have the keyword for that. It's ABC14A1.

All right, you ladies are enablers! I haven't been in Joann's in AGES because there wasn't much to see in there for paper crafts the previous few times I was there. Today, because of you all, I decided to go check them out again...and oh no! Their paper crafting section is MUCH better. Kandie, you are correct, their Tim Holtz section is better than Michaels or HL and our Joann's has a fabulous Hero Arts section. Wow! I could have spent a LOT there. I was tempted to get several stamp sets for today's theme but resisted...barely. I can see I need to stay out of that store!

I don't print papers either, too much ink usage.

That "dsp" you stamped is beautiful, Kathy! I love snowflakes.
