Hi Jan! I think we posted at the same time.

Let's hope not too many more cases. We have people doing that here too and it is distressing to all of us who are following the advice to not congregate. What is your long weekend called?

I bought a leg of lamb from the butcher today, I got him to cut of two chops from the end and tomorrow steve is slow roasting the rest of it, I froze the chops, what’s left I will make a pie, haven’t had lamb for ages as it’s been too hot for a roast dinner,

Shirl enjoy your weekend

Shirl, I’m not sure what the long weekend is for, the Spanish don’t need an excuse, it’s just a fiesta as far as I know.

Shirl, there is no such thing as a good spider in my books! LOL.  DH says the same thing about snakes!

I didn't go to my nieces reception today. My back is killing me and my foot hurts to stand on it. Painful mostly at the heel. Plus I did not sleep well last night. DH went and took my card and Halloween goodies for little man. I stayed home and took ibuprofen!

Not a thing! I just have what I call traveling pains because I hurt 1 one place for a day or two and then the pain travels to another part of my body. I honestly think it all has to do with my back issues. Could be pinched nerves but I have spinal stenosis, arthritis in the back, and bulging discs. Some days I have severe knee pain that I think comes from the back. I also tend to hurt more after a day of shopping because I wear shoes on those days.

I think sometimes if you have a pain in say a knee you put pressure on the other and then that hurts, you try to ease the pain in one place and cause problems elsewhere, I know Steve does that with his knees, in our case it’s old age too LOL

Well, I have all the floors in the house swept and mopped finally! I've had it on my to-do list for a month. Now, I can craft.

Kathy, that's so awful that you had to stay home because of your pain. Back pain is no fun. Hope you're feeling better.

I talked to my DH and we decided that I will not fly back to Wisconsin and ride out to Arizona with him this year. Wisconsin Covid cases are rising rapidly and is said to have the highest counts in the U.S. He will drive out with the dogs and stop and rest whenever he gets tired. I'm relieved that I don't have to ride in the truck for 30 + hours. My back has been bothering me. I'm also glad that I won't have to worry about flying on a plane again.

Shirl hope you were able to get a walk in today. Glad it's stopped raining.

Jan, enjoy your roasted lamb. Sorry to hear about all the tourists in Spain again.

I'm going to relax a bit and then, hopefully, get into my craft room!

Gracie, glad you don't have to fly! I heard that Wisconsin cases are up. My niece lives in Milwaukee. Our state cases are riding too. I've been stocking up in case I can't go out. But I really need a haircut. I got it cut in June when our state opened back up. Time to get it cut before there's another shutdown.

Gracie, that is a good idea for you to stay in Arizona and don't have to get on a plane!

Yes, we did our walk. I am trying to get motivated to go grocery shopping, now, but still drinking my tea from lunch.

Jan, we love lamb but I have not cooked much of it. I need to remedy that.

Kathy, sorry about all of your pain. Oh, yeah, I dislike snakes even more than spiders.

Kathy, me too, I'm so glad to not go back to Wisconsin right now. I need a haircut badly...it's been a year now. I have an appointment on Halloween at 8 a.m. (The soonest I could get in.) A friend gave me a gift certificate for my birthday for her hairdresser. She owns a shop by herself and only has one person come in at a time and spaces out appointments.

Shirl, I'm with you! I definitely have a snake phobia! They scare me to death ever since I was a child and went to a Zoo and saw lots of them...I started having nightmares and seeing them crawl all over the floor. My mom even had to call the Dr. because I was afraid to go to sleep.

Hi everyone! It has been a lovely day here and I've been busy and also had a lovely nap. Last night I made a new to me soup recipe for the family and everyone liked it - hurray! It is a Coconut Lentil Curry soup and quite tasty. Today we had hobo pouches grilled on the BBQ for lunch and I made pumpkin sugar cookies. I got the soup recipe and cookie recipe in an email from a radio station.

Shirl, please send the rain our way. Early in the week we had rain in the forecast for today but as we got closer to today, it went away to DD2's sadness. Both of our girls love rain.

By the way, I think the last time my iron was used was for a craft thing, not for clothing.

Kandie, your album is gorgeous. Sorry about your bites, that sounds scary. I'm sure you and DH will keep an eye on it.

Shelly, yay that your daughter has been cleared.

Jan, I have been missing you!

Kathy, sorry you were in such pain today. Praying it eases soon.

Jayne, I meant to craft today but that hasn't happened...yet.

Gracie, I'm glad you don't have to do the long drive out, especially due to your back.

My oldest brother called me today, he meant to on my birthday but got too busy (they did send a funny card). Anyway, his name is Terry and on Tuesday he is having knee replacement surgery. My other brother told me about that surgery but, when I asked him about it today, he said that it is the first of three surgeries he is having in the next few weeks. First the knee surgery, then, the beginning of November, he is having eye surgery and, if that one goes well, he'll have the other eye done two weeks after that. I would ask that you add Terry and his surgeries to your prayers.

Oh, Gracie, that card is so cute!

Gracie thank goodness you aren’t going on a plane again, that would scare me, a couple we know came over in august and they said the plane was half empty, I still wouldn’t want to go.

Catherine your soup sounds tasty, steve loves Mulligatawny soup which is a beef curry soup, I’m not keen but he used to take it to football matches to warm him up, I love butternut squash soup!

Catherine your poor brother having all those operations, hope all goes well for him, our DIL had an op last week for a detached retina, she’s having problems with her sight at the moment but they’ve told her it could take up to four weeks to heal then she has to have her cataract done!!

We once went to a party when steve was in the Army and they had a man with snakes. In two seconds most of the women had run out of the room! Our GS loves them he went to a party last year and had the snake round his neck and the huge spider on his hand.

Catherine, sending up prayers for successful surgeries for your brother Terry. I'd love that soup recipe, too.

Jan, I hope your DIL's eye heals completely.

Finished 2 cards tonight. Time to hit the hay!

Jan, that is what the woman at the post office told me- to get cards out early as it is going to be taking longer. They have twice the volume and only half the staff working right now!

Love soup and your pumpkin cookie recipe would be good to see, Catherine

Prayers will be said for your brother Terry.

Gracie good on you getting two cards made.

And Jan, prayers for your dil too. Eyesight issues are so scary.

Got my groceries but was too tired to make the potato recipe. Will do it tomorrow.

Night all!

Good morning to everyone.  I woke up thinking it was Tuesday and a order was coming from Amazon.  Then I saw DH watching Animal Planet and realized it was only Sunday.  Bummer!

The redness from the spider bites has spread into one big mess across the back of my neck and it’s all sore like a rug burn.  I still have the weird feeling around the front of my neck like there’s a rope around it, but no breathing issues or anything like that.  And DH was putting fallen branches on a woodpile in the backyard and was attacked by a swarm of bees.  He was stung four times.  I put witch hazel on the spots right away but he was in pain for quite a while. The witch hazel took the swelling down quickly.  He’s fine now.

Warning, bugs are attacking Americans!!!

Speaking of spiders, I’d rather not, they creep me out.  Snakes, on the other hand, don’t bother me at all.  I used to have iguanas, all sizes, so to me an iguana is a snake with legs.  Or, a snake is an iguana without legs.  . Once where I worked the businesses were located close to woods and a pond.  A man was afraid to come out the door of one because there was a snake curled up next to the door.  The maintenance man put on heavy gloves and brought a bucket and a stick.  I said oh for Pete’s sake and walked over to the snake, put my foot on its neck and then picked it up right behind the head and took it to the pond.  I think I learned that on Steve Irwin or some conservation show like that.

Another time my friend and I were setting up for an estate sale and the owner - a big guy - yelled because there was a snake in the basement.  I brought it upstairs and he videotaped me carrying it.  So goofy.

But a teeny tiny spider?  No thanks.  Too many legs.

Now my head itches, lol.  Who brought up spiders anyway?!

Good news today! A Hobby lobby is coming to Williamsport in the old Kmart building! It should open in May!! The closest HL to me was an hour and a half drive and this is less than 30 minutes away!

Also on the good news side...I got a haircut!

My back still hurts so I'm going to try and leave the shoes on all day.

Last night I had weird dreams! I think I dreamed something new every time I got up and went to the bathroom and back to bed. The first dream I remember I was dating Hotch from criminal minds! That's all I remember of that dream. Another dream was I drove home from somewhere and parked at the bottom of my driveway and when I got up to my house I turned around and looked and there was a big hole in my front yard! The other dream was a shoot off from the hole in the yard. I was at some young man's house sleeping and when I woke I was trying to explain to him about the hole in my yard and he was cutting my hair! I said to him are you a hairdresser and he said yes. Then I asked him if he had his own shop or if he works somewhere and he told me I'd have to figure that out! By the looks of things, he had a shop in his home. Probably had the haircut on my mind. I watched criminal minds yesterday, thus that dream and I have tiny little holes all over the front yard, which has puzzled me. So at least I know where the dreams started!

Morning!

Kathy, I was giggling at your dreams!!  Holes in the yard?  Wow, I loved the one about the haircut.  You wondered how they all tied together.

Kandie, snakes, oh yuck. Spiders, I just kill them!

No my granddaughter, she doesn't want spiders killed either.  She wants to just take them outside.  She just loves bugs.

Uncles found her a little frog yesterday on the yard, a tiny brown one that jumps like crazy.  She is in heaven!  Loves to hold them!  She took it home in her netted cage, with a large mushroom in it and leaves she found on the yard.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!

Good morning! Thank you all for adding my brother to your prayers.

Happy, happy birthday to Vickster! I hope your day is a special celebration of you! Love and miss you!

Jan, I love butternut squash soup too.

Melody and Shirl, I'll attach the recipes here. Just let me know if you can't open Word documents and I can share them in another format.

I was focusing on Christmas cards with DTGD to help me build up my Christmas cards.

Kandie, praying that the remnants of your bite(s) clear up quickly. Your poor DH, that happened to my DH a few weeks ago.

Uh-oh, Kathy, a HL coming that close could be a dangerous thing!

What fun and vivid dreams you had too!

By the way, not a fan of snakes or spiders here either.

Happy Birthday Victoria! Wishing you a much healthy year ahead! Hugs!

Funny dreams Kathy! Hope your back feels better.

Kandie, you and poor DH with bees and spiders! I have to freeze in place and take deep breaths to try and keep from freaking out when I see a snake. Just the way I automatically respond. I try not to scream. LOL

Have a great day all!

DH would drive to HL every two or three years since it was so far away. I'm wondering if this will hurt business at Joann's since it's just up the road a tiny bit. I quit going to Joanns because they didn't have much on the way of cardmaking supplies.

I don't remember how long ago it was that I went into a Joanns because their paper crafting section got so small, it wasn't worth it. I find more at Tuesday Morning than Joanns.

I've been busy with chores, I think now I'll take a break and try to get my autumn card done...we'll see how that goes. Hopefully better than DH's car project. He ordered a new head for the Honda and today was his first opportunity to work on it and...it is the wrong head. Why am I not surprised? Oh, because my dad kept our cars running (and other people's too) and getting the wrong part from the parts house seemed like part of EVERY job!

Jayne, DD1 is doing better...sort of. This situation with the guy who was her boyfriend again for 3-4 of her happiest recent days has blown up the friend group (four of them in the group) she had (not to mention he was the one helping DH with the Honda job and he has bailed on that too, his dad has offered to step in and help). She had been looking forward to celebrating her birthday this year with friends (her birthday is Oct. 18th). Now she isn't looking forward to it at all and I'm trying to figure out how to rescue the celebration. Her sadness cast a pall over my birthday because we moms don't like it when our kids aren't happy.

That said, cards from you lovely ladies helped make my day wonderful.

I forgot to tell all of you the fun, spontaneous thing that happened on my birthday. DD2 insisted on decorating and her decorations involved balloons which meant she trapped her cat in their room because she wasn't sure what Wesley would do. DH and DD2 went to get our food and I felt badly for Wesley being trapped so DD1 and I put the balloons in my room as Wesley isn't allowed in there.

At the end of the evening, I asked DD2 what she planned to do with the balloons. She said, "Pop them!" and someone suggested she use the finger knife she got at Tahoe. So the four of went into our room to see how the finger knife did with the balloon. Popped it, no problem which led me to suggest DH, DD1, and I toss the balloons in the air and DD2 pop them before they hit the ground. Silliness, but we had a lot of fun!

Thanks for the recipes, Catherine.

Happy birthday Victoria.

I have Hobby Lobby & JoAnn's about 10 minutes from home, and Michael's 20.  I haven't been in any of them in well over a year.  I just haven't been spending anything on crafts.  I still have gift cards for Michael's from my son from 2 years ago, and have only used a little on one of them.

I don't hold on to gift cards long because you never know when a store will close. DH had $5 left on a Gander Mountain gif card when they closed and they wouldn't let anyone use gift cards. Luckily he had used up $45 of it, but I hate losing even $5!

Default Hello

Happy Sunday!

Waving hello to all of your lovely ladies, and a Belated Birthday to Victoria!!!

Kandie- worked with a doc in the ICU that said road burn/rug rash type of look is generally allergy- have you taken an antihistamine like claritin/allerga/zyrtec/benadryl???  to see if that helps.  So sorry you were bitten.  I would be so paranoid!  I hate spiders as well!

Kathy- I am the same way- we have been watching the Ozarks and finished season 3, and I had another bad dream- my mom was falling and was going to land in such a way that she was going to hit her head.  I lunged up to grab her and screamed....LOL  Hubby was surprised I did not fall out of bed!  In the last episode, someone got shot in the head, so that is probably where that came from!  My Mother did have falls, but never hit her head- she did break a wrist one time before dad died when she fell.

Catherine- prayers for your brother, and I so understand about feeling bad for your daughters pain! I know how that goes!  I'll have to look at the recipes- could always use more soup recipes!

Ann- hope your visit with the grands goes well! And, which set of grands did you have???

Gracie- we gave up our cleaning lady- and my house could use a good dusting right now!  We have wood floors, so not too darn hard to keep them clean, but the dust is stirred up if you do not keep on top of it!

Jayne- hope you have been feeling a bit better with your stomach!  My SIL had a surgery and has been affected by 'Alkaline reflux'.  She confessed a few months ago she was down to 80 something pounds.... but in the past month has gained 10 pounds.  She has never been married, no kids of her own..... she is 72.  She used to tell us she was going to live to be 120 and would outlive all of her younger brothers....  Not so sure about that!

Jan- crazy the people sneak out of Madrid and come to your area!  Your trip timing and return seems to have been perfect before the uptick in cases!!

Shirl- one more thing I do when sewing on cards- I take the tail of the thread and thread it through the eye of a hand held needle and sink it to the back, then tie the ends, just so the thread will not unravel......  If the left over thread is short, put the needle into the hole, then thread it and tape it on the back.

Melodie- like here- there are all three so close- but I have been to all three- looking for cardstock and fabric to make masks.  We are low at 4-5% infection rates here though, and I take all precautions.

We watched a DVD this afternoon of the twins when there were the same age as the grandson Rowan is now....  We are going to Colorado in 11 days- driving there- 18 hours- and Hubby will fly to Florida for baseball and I will fly home.  DD1 is planning on driving out as well, and DD2 is looking into coming- if her research is far enough along......
I am not too excited about flying, but will be very prepared with wipes and masks : )

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Shelly
