Hi ladies.  I don’t mean to be absent.  I’m working feverishly on this safari journal so I can get it in the mail by the weekend.  I keep up with the chatter but haven’t had time to post.  Here’s a quick look at this project so far.

I’ll check back in later. Have a wonderful Monday!

No worries Kathy, there’s time yet!

I’m still laughing that Jayne’s birthday card finally arrived ! I think it’s been in transit for six months, maybe everything else I’ve posted will eventually arrive too.

I really want to try the TLC but I'm having trouble with instructions and I can't open the PDF.

The PO is having such problems lately. How do they expect to get the mail in ballots on time? A card that normally takes a week to get to Lynn still hasn't arrived and I sent it September 21.

Kathy, the TLC is basically a center step card with angle cuts instead of vertical.  I would use a 5-1/2"x8-1/2" or 4-1/4"x11" instead to get an A2 card.  Your bottom horizontals at 1" & 2" and your mid-card at halfway (4-1/4" or 5-1/2") + one more 1" beyond that.  I don't think the angles need to be exact.

Diane (cookiestamper) has an A2 normal center step on her blog: https://papercookies.splitcoaststampers.com/2010/11/17/a-different-stair-step-card/

just copy and paste the link.

Good morning! A quick check in from work as yes, they turned our power off yesterday afternoon. They estimate they'll turn it back on tomorrow by 10 pm. It is quite frustrating - especially since there is no wind up where we live. I'm thankful I don't drive a plug in car though! And I am thankful that we have showers at the church so came to work early for a hot shower and electricity for my blow dryer and curling iron.

Yes, Sharon, the generator powers the refrigerator and freezer and a few other things so we aren't so in the dark.

Shelly, that cabin looks so cozy and pretty in the snow.

Jan, your grandson is an adorable party animal!

Love the safari themed journal page too, Kandie.

Well, must get to work. Just thought I'd check in. We'll probably hang around here for a while into the evening simply because there is power so I should be able to check in later too.

Good morning all!

Kathy, I have seen one show on hoarding but haven't watched it regularly. At least it made me feel not so bad at some of my stuff.

Shelly, that pic is fabulous. Looks like right out of a magazine. Enjoy!

Jan, I have been using paypal, so I guess if they were going to charge, they won't on ours. I am winking along with Jayne, ha, ha. Thanks for the gs pic. Too cute!

Sharon two more sleeps for you! And yes, seeing Gracie's kitty made me want one too!

Catherine what a pain when the power goes out. We had high winds here the last day and a half but sunny. Hit freezing overnight, but supposed to be a lot warmer by Wed.

Melody, so kind of you to provide the measurements for the step fold and the person's blog. Not that I will probably do it. I want to do a couple of FS's and am behind on the alpha too and I am feeling headachy these days. Not fun.

To those of you that have the Poppy Moments Dies-what is the little round oval for? I just noticed that yesterday in the dies.

Yes Shirl keep spending, that’s a good excuse!

Catherine I’m pleased you have somewhere to have showers and the Internet, our son laughed at me as I thought he said he had bought containers with water in them so i asked how they were put in the garage! He laughed , they were empty and he filled them and put something in to keep the water fresh, for three years, ha,ha

Linda, anything that represents something specific to Europe -- Paris, Eiffel tower, arch de triumph, French bread, Italy, gondola, Pope, London, king, queen, French writing, French words, Irish blessing... I'm sure you'll come up with something.

LOL, Sharon.  And those are just a tiny bit.  If you think of all the countries in Europe, there is sooooo much more.

Too funny, Jan.  Those were just off the top of my head.  I know if I really sat and thought about it, I could come up with more.  Every country has uniqueness.  The hard part is matching up a stamp or die with the idea.

I think when we look at the theme, we try to overthink what we should do and make it more complicated than it should be.  I've been watching videos from a free class and one of the things said was that instead of thinking of something as a challenge, think of it as an invitation to create.

Hey everyone! Woo hoo, we are thankful to have power back this evening. Their projection was for tomorrow night by 10 pm. Of course, we never really had high winds. I'm just thankful to have the power restored. DD2 is especially thankful that she doesn't have to come to work with me tomorrow.

Wow, lots of chatting on here today.

Shirl, yes, it is definitely a pain when they turn the power off. I feel like CA is a third world country or something. And our governor has signed into law (can't remember if it was a bill or an executive order) banning the sale of new gas power vehicles by 2030. As several people pointed out, just wait until we all drive plug in cars and then they turn the power off!

Jan, having birthdays is better than the alternative!

To add to Melody's ideas, for Germany, steins (we are in October after all), pretzels, lederhosen, I have a VW bug stamp.

I should head to bed, I just wanted to let you all know the good news that our power is back! Hip, hip, hooray!

We’ve taken out some ballestrades as they covered the windows and it was hard to clean them, anyway after eighteen years!! We’d had enough of painting  them too.
We loaded the pieces into the car to take to the amenities site, one pillar was so heavy we struggled to lift it into the car, arrived and there’s a young man who helps to put them in the pile, when it came to the pillar steve asked him if he could help him actually get it out of the car, he just lifted it out on his own, we laughed, makes you feel old, years ago steve could have done that, LOL
He was telling us that he has hundreds of mattresses but because of the springs in them he has to take them all apart, he said in summer he dismantled over a thousand!

Morning!

Son's finished painting the family room last night!  I had to stop after one large wall as the fluid in the cist in my middle finger was filling with fluid.  That was always the case when I was pipping decorations for cakes too. So painful!

Now the room needs to be cleaned and stuff all put back into place!  The good and the bad part about painting.

Sharon, wow, that was a lot of snow already!  It's 30 degrees here and a bit of snow on the trees and grass but nothing on walks or roads.

Catherine, so glad your power is back on!  That would just drive me nuts with food going bad!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! Sunny and cool here this morning. I think we are finally done with summer - and that, perhaps, "winter" will come early this year. I'm pretty sure I wore sandals into November last year but I actually wore close toed shoes yesterday (and my toes complained about it too!).

Yes, Melody, alps. SU has that stamp set that looks kind of watercolor"y" that has mountains in it. I think that would work for an alps card.

Jan, I thought of maps too. Or that world embossing folder I have (SU one, I think). Use that for a background, add a compass rose and a sentiment, and you're done! I haven't had to map read in a long time. I wasn't one who had to turn the map to read it, but, if I had to tell DH to turn left or right, then I had to turn it! I have a bit of directional dyslexia from my mom. Not as bad as hers though.

Ann, I still need to paint the entire interior of this house. I would have gotten it done already but there are places that need texturing touch up. DH doesn't feel like he does a good job of that so he wants his friend to come do it and that hasn't happened yet. How is your eye now?

Ann, I forgot to mention, that is why we have the generator. To keep food from going bad.

Wow, I've missed lots of chat! It seems on days I don't check in, there is lots going on!

Sharon, brrrrr, so much snow already!

Jan, your grandson's animal costume is adorable!

Catherine, glad you had a generator and also, happy the power wasn't out too long!

Hello and have a happy Tuesday all! I need to get in my craft room...I was gone all day yesterday!

Kandie, that safari journal is awesome!

Ann, glad you're getting some painting done by your son. Hope your finger is feeling better and the fluid has gone down. Our bodies can be so frustrating!

Wow, you all must be very busy and diligent...or else you don't have anything to say?! No, I'm sticking with busy and diligent! I guess I'd better go demonstrate those characteristics too.
