I'm in the waiting room at the eye doctors. Dad had an appointment. So I got them settled in and then ran to the pharmacy for the antibiotic the doctor called in for DH's tooth. Dentist will look at it tomorrow at 10:00 but if there's a true infection, they probably won't pull it until infection is gone v

I'm blessed to be able to take my parents places. They've done so much for me over the years and I'm happy that I can now help them

Thinking of you Kathy. And ditto what Ann said. You are the best DD!

I tried the technique challenge, and it is a failure. The white won’t sand off, and some did but also took the color with it. I am trying to decide weather to go ahead and do the embossing and it is what is is. Also, whatever I used is powerful smell. I had to turns fan off and then when I sanded it, I put a mask on.

I shouldn't have watched the news. California is shutting down because cases are increasing at alarming rates. Why oh why don't people get it?

Oh no I didn’t see that CA are shutting down our family are over there! I’m so worried about them, they are saying the boys can go back to school next month but our son and DIL aren’t sure if they should let them.

Jan, we saw on the news that cases are rising everywhere...again. What is going on.

We are about to head out but I have a query...how does everyone stop glue showing through on tea bags and tissue paper. I made a card earlier and was about to post it but you can see the glue dots...so frustrating. I’ve used tissue paper many times before but always in mixed media and probably why I’ve not noticed it before. Any tips welcomed.

Have a great day everyone.

Kathy, you will not believe it but your card arrived this morning!

It is so beautiful, I love the bg colour wash with the gorgeous colours on the flowers, I’m not sure how you did it but it’s really beautiful, I love it, thank you so much.
The envelope was pristine as if you had hand delivered it, to say you posted it in April it really doesn’t look as if it’s been going round the world for three months, I couldn’t believe it, the envelope is so pretty too, that was such a lovely surprise, Lynn’s arrived last week and now the yours Has arrived.

Morning!

It's cool right now in Wisconsin but warming up and storms coming in again this evening! Such weird weather we are having.

Jayne, I usually use liquid glue on tissue paper so I don't have the problem of seeing the dots. The only thing I can think of is to cover the dots with other items on your card as with vellum.

Off to look at the challenges and feed the dogs and myself! Have a great day everyone!

Ann I use silicone glue but usually end up doing as you suggested, putting something over the dot if you can see it.

Glad it finally arrived, Jan!

Jayne, if you are smoothing out the tea bags or tissue paper I use double sided adhesive sheets. This card was done using a dried, opened tea bag.

Good morning ladies.

Jayne, a glue stick works. Put the glue on the card stock, not the tissue, or you will tear the tissue. Also a gel medium or matte medium like you would use in mixed media. If you use a really thin coat, tissue is still going to stick to it, and it shouldn't seep through too much. Although with the gel or matte medium, you could even brush that over the top and it doesn't really show.

I learned a really helpful tip this weekend from Carolyn Dube.

If you have colored something with a water based coloring medium and want to seal it, rather than brushing a matte medium over it and probably smearing it, brayer a very thin layer of matte medium on your gel plate, then lay your colored image on the plate and 'take a print'. Same as if you brushed it on, but no smearing or bleeding.

Spread a thin coat of acrylic paint over the gel plate and take another print on something else to clean your plate.

Good morning! Our heat over the weekend has gone, it is still warm but not as warm though the extended forecast shows it coming back this weekend. I'll enjoy the break while it lasts!

Gracie, praying for you as you deal with aging parents and health concerns.

Kathy, you are such a blessing to your parents. And it is wonderful that you are able to be right there and help. My parents were both quite a few hours away at the end of their lives, mom was about a 9 hour drive away and there wasn't an easy way to get there by air, it was a challenge and the girls were little.

Sharon, I wanted to try the TLC challenge but have some deadlines to deal with before I can play. I'll have to go see if you finished and posted your card.

Jayne, I usually use a thin layer of liquid glue that is spread evenly across the card stock to which I want to attach the tissue paper. I've used glue stick as well.

Jan, torrential rain sounds lovely! Humidity, not so much.

That is a great tip, Melody. Thanks for sharing it!

Off to work, ladies, have a lovely day!

Hello Catherine,

Thanks for lovely card today. Did you put something on the flower? That feels [COLOR=#3d3d3d]weird, and looks neat. What is that stuffed? And what do you used it for? I have an ideal for the Christmas cards. But would love more ideals. If, anyone has any. I hope you are doing well. And I wanted to say hello to everyone else too! Hotwheels

You are welcome, Linda! That got to you quickly! Unfortunately, I don't recall which card I sent to you so can't answer your question! I need to keep better records about the cards I send out...I need to be like Kathy!

Quiet on here again today. I have board meeting tonight and also have to make sure everything is complete for our taxes and paying those tomorrow. At least board meeting is via Zoom so no commute time!

Good evening, everyone. I am here, I just haven’t felt good again with allergies, so I’m mostly just reading. I’ve done a few cards but I think my mojo is on vacation again.

Just checking in! Have a good night.

Thank you for all of the tips ladies. I used liquid glue and on the CS and then stuck the tissue down but I can see the dots. I usually use gel medium. I will try some of your tips in future and thanks Melody for the gel print tip. My mojo has flown out the coop again. I fancy trying the watercolouring challenge and have my P card half done so that’s a start but I’m out being shorn soon so bang goes today and craft.

Kandie I hope your allergies improve. I sympathise with you...I’ve blown my nose so much that now it’s swollen and sore lol. Always something.

Have a great day and keep well everyone. Hugs

Kandie sorry to hear you are still suffering.

The storm last night was scary, at one point the thunder was so loud you could feel the vibrations , so much rain too, I had to close all the windows so you can imagine how hot it was indoors!

Melody, you are amazing at re-using items. I thought of you yesterday as I was getting out a new bar of Dove bath soap. I thought, hey, I might be able to use that dove image.. hey, I’m being like Melody! No waste! (Truly meant as a compliment!)

Gracie, prayers for you and your parents.

Sharon, I gave the Technique challenge a pass after I read it. Too much for me.

Kathy, the nations were warned way back in March from the experts on the Covid-19 virus that there would be a second wave. They knew people would stop listening. And here it is. I go in stores that have huge signs to wear mask and so many just ignore it and walk right in. I try to ask WHY with my eyes but they just ignore me.

And that teabag card was beautiful!

Melody, I saw somewhere that same tip. It’s a good one.

Morning!!

We are with both of you, Jayne and Jan, as the storms were bad last night here too! The lightening was so bright! Another round today too!

Kandie, so sorry to hear that your allergies are acting up. I'm taking my Claritin daily to help as my eyes have been full of yuck every morning!

Have a busy day finishing up some things in the basement and then general cleaning to do.

So will see if I can get to any more cards this week!

Hugs to all!

Good morning! I'm envious of DD1 who has the day off today. Both girls are still asleep and Honey and Wesley are pretty much sacked out too. DH is busy at work at the dining room table and I'm typing this quick note to you before heading off to work. And, since I have just paid my taxes, off to work I need to go!

Jayne, did you post the card you were asking about? Also, enjoy getting your hair done. I was so happy to get my hair cut when I finally could.

Your storm sounds a bit too big, Jan! I don't like it when the thunder shakes my house.

Sorry for those of you dealing with allergies. Jayne, I know what you mean about blowing your nose until it hurts!

Enjoy a lovely day, everyone!

Hello? Where is everyone?! I realized, after I got home from work, that today is the 15th...the new dirty girl reveal day. I completely forgot, how terrible is that? My six months was done last month...

Yes, that would be why, Sharon. It went fast...and it didn't because of current events.

Catherine, I’ve just posted it. I FaceTimed Sharon earlier and also Ann popped on for a little while. Was fun. Ann, did you get all your cleaning done? Sharon, I can’t wait until you post your card. It was fun to see you create and I’ve still to finish my WC card. It’s stormy here and I want to pop out and get a cover for my new phone that has arrived....whoohoo....it’s big. I look outside and think..maybe another day lol. I don’t like driving in a storm. No thunder or lightening..yet. Tomorrow is poppet day and I steer clear of the stores on a Saturday when every person seems to be there lol.

Kandy, yep the virus is spreading again in our country....over East at present and hopefully it won’t come here although I’ve heard some horror stories.

Keep well everyone...and have fun whilst doing it.

I didn't do the tutorial this week. I can't find a good stamp for the technique. I haven't missed a tutorial in years, so maybe I will come up with something later, but I'm not an artist and didn't quite understand the technique.

Kathy I had a quick look at the tutorial and I would think any flower stamp would work and just overlap it.  If it’s any consolation I started a panel for this weeks watercolour challenge. It was looking ok and even when I went back to it later today. Then I decided to add more and more until it became a blob. So I doodled and it became a bigger blob. Now it’s one blob covered over with gesso. So frustrated and annoyed with myself. When I showed it to Sharon before she went to bed it was looking ok. A watercolour I’m not lol. I’ll start another one in a couple of days. Have fun with the tutorial.

I’ve been playing with my new phone. It’s not that much different to my old one other than the size of the screen and it takes better photos. I’ve not tried out the face recognition yet. That could be scary lol. It’s got to last me a few years now so I wonder what happens as more lines appear on my face lol.

Tomorrow is poppet day so no craft for me and then we head away next week for a few days. Taking my MIL home. She’s at my SILs at present.

Have fun every8ne. Waving and saying hello

So fun last night Jayne! Three hours! I can’t believe it. When you are in the craft room, especially with a friend, time just flies, doesn’t it?
What? Jayne that card was so. Pretty, and you didn’t stop?
I am just on my 2nd cup of tea, and moving slow. After Jayne and I signed off I stayed up another hour, and didn’t go to bed until 1! Now moving slow. It is raining , the nice steady kind, with no thunder and lighting right now. We need the rain.

I have to start moving. I will check in later.

Good morning.

Kathy, I read through the technique, although I haven't done it. My understanding is to choose Any image that has multiple smaller overlapping images in it -- flowers,
butterflies, cluster of grapes, birds, animals, people, trees, leaves,
boats, etc. It doesn't have to be a full page image. Then pick which part looks like it is most in the foreground and give it the least color (first layer only), so paint around that one. Then choose which image(s) are next closest to the front and paint around them, and so on. The images most in the foreground will be lighter than those most in the background, and those in between will have varying amounts of color.

Good morning, everyone. I read all the chatter and that’s as far as I got. My brain is not functioning, the usual sinus pressure, and overnight storms (yep, we got them too) that kept Dusty panting and prowling all over the bed until 4:30 am. DH got up at 8 and closed the bedroom door so we could sleep, and we both slept until 10! Unheard of for Dusty to sleep that long. Now I feel like my head is full of cotton!

I know just from reading above that I’m not the only one who worked on a project yesterday to the point of being frustrated and then just got up and walked away! DH was replacing a window in the basement, so I said I’m going to HL, I’m frustrated, and he said see you in several hours!

Have any of you noticed the HL paper craft department seems to be getting smaller and smaller? And there are brands being featured that I’ve never heard of. The Ranger inks are still prominent but the Tim Holtz section is down to about three feet now. And Tombow glue? NONE. Which was the specific reason I went there to stock up on Tombow glue. How about stencils? Nonexistent. What is going on with stencils?

So I went to Michaels. Only two stencils in the paper craft section, neither a TM product, and still no Tombow glue. And also a teeny TH section.

So I went to Joann Fabrics, I haven’t been there for at least 6 months, and finally! Tombow glue!!! And a few stencils, but none for TH.

You know, I did research when I got home and found that Tim is not only representing Ranger, or maybe he was and his contract expired, but I found that he now is designing for Stampers Anonymous. And his Ranger stencils are being downsized to mini stencils, three to a pack, and costing over $30 for a set! And when you do a search on Amazon for Tim Holtz, you now get twice as many hits because his products are in two different craft companies!!!

Well, sorry I wrote a novel, but I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this going on?
