Hi everyone! Sorry I disappeared. I was under a time crunch to get my Fan Club projects done and uploaded. My family even excused me from house chores because several things happened to eat up my evenings - memorial service, board meeting, etc. and then I've been busy catching things up - lots of laundry. Today, after work, I was raking leaves down the hill away from the house to prepare for fire season.

Hmm, lots of chatter since I last posted. I still need to make my K card and now tomorrow's LS card.

Morning Catherine, I was thinking I hadn’t seen you around and then I remembered you were back at work, hope it’s all going well although it sounds like you are pretty busy.

Ann it’s great that your Grandkids are enjoying the pool, ours would have been arriving today, a shame as they do love it, they never want to go anywhere else, just swimming all day, we try to get them to the beach and they would rather stay in the pool
Have a lovely day with them

Hi Jan! Yes, it has been going great at work, just busy. We are thankful to be back in the office - though that adds an hour to my day for commute time.

And now, I'd better head to bed so i can get up and do it again tomorrow! At least I don't have to get up at 2:30 or 3:00 am like DD1. She has early shift tomorrow.

Catherine I would hate to get up so early, that’s one lovely thing about retirement, no getting up early, although we do now as we don’t sleep very late, all those years of being woken up by the alarm and now we don’t need to we can’t sleep in, typical.

I've missed you Catherine, but glad to know youre well.

DH just sent me a text saying he thinks I broke his nose! He was just kidding. This morning I thought he was already up for work and took my tablet, rolled over and went to lay it by his pillow and hit him in the nose instead! I felt really bad. Now he is teasing me about it.

SU order is to come tomorrow. It has taken longer this time. They had some kind of issue behind the scenes they had to deal with. Must've gotten it straightened out.

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

Remember my bent middle finger, from the arthritis? That digit is really starting to annoy me. Yesterday I was trying to download a photo from Pinterest. My forefinger kept hitting Download Pin, and my bent middle finger kept hitting Remove Pin. I recovered the pin twice that I removed by accident, lol.

DH’s DS3, who is a plant manager at one of our area’s largest RV manufacturing plants, has been very negligent at virus protection, he waves his hands and says there’s no virus, people are in an uproar over nothing, blah, blah. Well. Not anymore. One of his workers was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Monday. Tuesday several of this man’s crew were removed from work and quarantined. Today 30 out of his 60-person plant area are out on quarantine. DS3 is not waving off the virus anymore. But DH keeps telling him to get tested, and the stubborn man won’t do it. Some people are so obstinate...

Lots of great challenges today, the sketch challenge is a good layout, today the Alpha challenge is LS, and its Watercolor Wednesday! Plus, I really like today’s SCS newsletter project. Kathy, have you done that one yet?

DH is frustrated with me. . I am replacing my makeup table with the second piece of matching furniture DH bought from his sale. It’s on the back porch and has been scrubbed and de-molded and de-mustied and polished, and the drawer is full of coffee. Last evening I started shoving that bedroom’s furniture around and got reprimanded quietly at for not asking for help (hey, I am woman, hear me roar, lol). So now this morning I HAVE to clean up the mess because I can’t get to anything in there. It’s all one big disaster! Once I clear a space enough to get to the new table, I’ll take a photo of it. If I can find it, that is.

Good morning. Hot today. I just turned on the AC. DH and I just went out to dig off the septic cover. It's that time again. They are coming on Friday, so we decided to dig before it got too hot. Actually, he did most of the digging, but he's younger and stronger. I'll probably be the one to dump all the dirt back in, but that's much easier.

Melody, I think we have two or three years yet on our tank. We have to have it pumped every five years. The worst part is, we dig three lids up because my sister and mom always get there's done so we can get a group rate. And DH and I do the digging, although sister did dig hers last year. She just dug the wrong part open! We are thinking of putting a riser in so we won't have to dig each time. Its just that its in the front yard and we will have to mow around it.

Good morning! It is rainy and cool here today. A perfect day for crafting. I need to get the sheets swapped and washed first though as well as some dishes washed.

Jan your breakfast place looks lovely.

Kandie, I can't wait to see your other piece of furniture. I'm sure it's perfect for your space. You have a real knack for that sort of thing.

Catherine, I'm glad to see you back. I've been wondering how you are. I'm glad you are enjoying being back in the office but sorry you are so busy.

Kathy, I laughed at your hitting DH in the nose this morning. I had the opposite happen here. I thought DH was up already and rolled over. He had his arms behind his head with his elbows sticking out and I rolled right into it. Mine probably didn't have as much force though, ouch.

Steve very often sticks his elbows out in bed and I turn over and get one in the eye!

I’ve been trying to do the watercolour challenge, I’ve finished three BGs but I can’t quite finish them. I haven’t even started the LS challenge

Good morning! It is a lovely and cool morning here, I think I saw that the weather guessers say we are warming up towards the weekend. For now, I'll enjoy the mild temps and cool mornings!

Kathy, that made me chuckle about whacking your DH with your tablet. Even more so to read he is teasing you about it. And yes, it sounds like you are even now! I guess sleeping in a California king sized bed is protective for both DH and myself.

Kandie, you had asked if Honey makes tries to make us feel guilty for leaving her at home and no, she doesn't. She pretty much doesn't care if we are around for the most part, she doesn't act like a normal dog (which means she fits right in our family, we aren't normal either!).

Jan, that breakfast spot looks absolutely lovely. And I agree, I would hate to get up as early as DH does when she has early shift. She does love getting off earlier in the day though. But, being a night owl, that would be horrible for me.

I have heard from other retired friends that they can't sleep in now either.

All this talk about septics makes me wonder when we'll need to get ours done. It was pumped just before we bought the house so...

Annette, I still look forward to seeing your new crafty space.

I'd better finish getting ready and head to work. Chat with you later!

I'm so disappointed. We just got word that our annual ladies retreat has been canceled for this year. We have not missed a year in 23 years. This would be the 24th. They gave us a choice of our money back or carrying it over to the next year so we carried it over and got our regular date of the weekend after labor day. It's just going to seem so strange not being able to go this year.

I’m presuming you all live out in the sticks as we would say seeing as many of you have septic tanks!

Yes. Out in the sticks! LOL

As for retreat being cancelled, I figured we'd be safe since it wasn't until September.

Jan, we aren't really out in the sticks. A subdivision just outside of a large city (70,000+), but have septic and our own well. Almost like being in the city.

Jan, it surprises me that you not being American know such a phrase as “out in the sticks”. It made me laugh.

Annette and I had a fun crafting time for three hours this afternoon. She got lots done! She has lots of creative ideas, and of course her craft space is so organized! She gave me suggestions with my cards. I love this kind of craft time! Thank you again, Annette!

So sorry about your retreat, Kathy, that is disappointing.

Yes, Jan, we definitely live in the sticks...and love it.

Sounds like fun, Sharon and Annette. I'm glad you were able to get together and craft. One of these days, I'll get to join in again and see Annette's space!

I would love to live out in the sticks, if we had known this was to be a permanent home we would have lived in a little spanish. Village but we bought it as a holiday home, mind you we love the layout and one one level is good now we are older and we have shops, PO and medical centre five minutes walk away.

Sharon we’ve always used that expression I wondered after I’d written it if you ladies would know what I meant!

Our son rang last night and said they’ve had 5,000 new cases in San Mateo county but apparently the hospital where Steve had his heart op has been used as a hospital for the virus so maybe that is distorting the figures. Apparently it was going to close but they’ve kept it open to use to treat cases.

Default Hello

Hello,

Ann, I had a thought as you were typing/I was reading....do you ever get your kids numbers mixed up like I get my kids names mixed up??? I guess I am in a silly mood. Glad you are getting lots of time with the grandkids!

Jan- yes, we use the saying out in the sticks here often..... Nice to be in the center of so many things from the sound of things. We are in an area where you need to drive just about everywhere!

Melodie and Kathy- we do not have septic, I did not know you have to do digging for it.... I do know- you cannot have a pool over it- as my sister has septic and a pool.

Kathy- so sorry about your retreat being cancelled. It is hard to imagine where we will be in 3 months from now.....

Kandie- I forgo to mention I love that new piece of furniture you posted!

Catherine- so nice of your family to support your crafting hobby. Especially when your hubby and kids pick up so you can get your cards done!

Annette and Sharon- would love to catch up one of these days.

Waving hello to all

Shelly

Shelly, yes, we are required by the county to have our septic pumped every 3 years (used to be every 2), and we have to remove the dirt from the cover. Or we can pay to have them do it, but money's tight and it really doesn't take very long. The cover is maybe 18" in diameter, and down about 6-8". We have grass on top, so that's the hardest part digging through.  We lay a tarp next to the hole to put the dirt on, so it's easy to put it back when the guy's done.

Morning!

We have septic and a well too. We had the extension placed on the cover years ago so it sits in the backyard easy to get to. Used to cover it just with lava rock but last year we redid the area around it and it's just mulch but not covering the top.

I have the septic pumped every 6 months to keep the system in working order. Mainly due to all the family members and now with everyone working from home.

If you remember I said the neighbors were having septic problems, it's making our sump pump run every 10 minutes. Electric bill will be up a lot! I wonder if they hit some kind of deep well as they were digging. They are up higher then we are. Driving me nuts listening to the think go on and off all day.

Off to get my day moving! Grandkids will be coming to swim again today! Teresa is turning into a mermaid! She now loves to go under water, Jack not so much, hates being splashed and gets upset.

I'm behind on challenges too, I have way to many cards and really need to focus on ones the generally peak my interest.

Later everyone, enjoy your day!

Good morning (waving hello to everyone).

Dusty jabbed me with a paw this morning to wake me up. We slept in an hour later than usual, she must have really had to go to the bathroom.

Pollen must be up, DH and I have had stuffy noses and itchy eyes for two days.

And something bit me during the night next to my eye. Nasty little things, they wait till I’m asleep to get back at me for all their friends and relatives I’ve killed during the day, lol.

I asked DH if we have a septic system and got a 15-minute talk on what we do have!

DH said he wanted to work on his shed and then he’d help me move furniture in the bedroom. As soon as he went outside I started moving stuff, sometimes we’d rather do it ourselves than wait, right? So today I am stiff and sore, but the room is done! I’m down to two projects, redo the bathroom curtain, and tape off and paint the bedroom window frames. But, today is Thursday, which is not only trash day but also estate sale day. I wonder what more smelly projects we will find? I’m still trying to get past the overwhelming odor of linseed oil and coffee grounds.

Is anyone trying the watercolor challenge? I’m still debating.

Kathy, so SORRY your retreat was cancelled! Oh my, I know how disappointed you must be.

We’ve known the phrase out in the sticks for years!

I’ve had a lot of fun responses to my card Lauren’s Satchel, lol. Thank you so much to all of you for your comments!

Here’s the small desk that matches the cabinet in the living room.  And a closeup of that, which is real blurry, sorry, the light from the front door is messing up the photo.

Those are both so beautiful!
Sharon and I did have a lot of fun yesterday. I had to wait to post any cards because the weather was so gloomy and it was too dark to photograph. I am going to make a few more today and then photograph them this afternoon. I am very excited to be able to get my hair cut today. I am also planning on barbequeing some steak with potatoes and asparagus for supper. Have a great day all!

I plan to get a haircut tomorrow or at least get an appointment. I cannot wait. What a mess I am!

I'm also disappointed about retreat being canceled because my friend repaired my old quilt and I was going to try it out at retreat! I have been taking it the past few years, by each year it tore a little more. So after last years retreat, my friend took the quilt home with her and did a great job on repairing it! It should hold up another thirty years now! I just put it in a box and into my closet since I won't need it this year.

Oh, Kathy, that is sad you can’t have your retreat! Especially Since all this virus stuff and shut down happened, you all especially needed this year. I know I Missed scrap retreats this year!

I had a surprise for FaceTime with Jayne and Gracie lat might after 10! I had changed to jammies, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and had almost gotten into bed, and at the last moment decided to check my email. I came into the living room, opened my iPad, and it popped up that they were on! So I shut the bedroom door, went into my craft room , and shut the door, and got on with them. Fun! I was on there til about 11:30 , then got off. Finished two cards while on. That is late for me nowadays! It just started my walk 15 minutes later this morning. Still got home by a little after 8, so I beat the heat!

Ann, that is neat that your kids have so much fun in the swimming pool. Is Jack still into firemen? I remember when we all made fireman cards for him! Do you know, I still have a fireman image colored? Just saw it in my stash yesterday! LOL. I should use that for letter F sometime. I just thought of something. I should divide my stash into envelopes for each letter! I would be good to go each week! Why haven’t I thought of that before?
