Annette, I hate it when I mail cards before taking a photo. Have a great day.

You could probably have the recipient of your card take a few photos and email them to you. Then choose one to upload. Then you would not have to make a substitute. See how lazy I am?

Hello everyone! This is the day that I always think of my mom's older brother who died in the Pacific in WWII. In my mom's family photos (she came from a family with seven children), when they would get together as adults, my uncle's photo was always in the family photo so my grandparents had all of their children in the picture.

I uploaded my H card yesterday and then started working on mass producing some graduation cards. I have six card fronts almost ready to be attached to bases, I was trying Jennifer McGuire's split card technique. We stayed up late last night while I was working on them and then I got up early to take the trash out...take Honey out, give her breakfast, then I went back to bed!

Kandie, I have no idea how the window company got the order wrong, I'm just thankful DH was careful in his removal of the old one. He is now working on the third window he purchased to replace. I'm hoping the neighbor is available to help with this one because it is bigger and heavier than the kitchen window I helped with yesterday.

DH told me he called Home Depot about the error and he had to take photos of the window, the order, the window with his tape measure showing the measurements, etc. I was surprised he didn't have to go there in person to straighten out the mistake.

Melody, I don't think that is lazy, I think it is efficient!

Kandie, I looked at the TLC challenge and wondered if I can figure it out! Just skimming the instructions, it looked confusing to me.

Jan, regarding treating veterans well in the US... and this is just my opinion, not starting any fires here, (I hope) but the US has been good remembering some veterans, and then there are veterans of the Korean War who were, or maybe still are, I don’t know, ignored because the government said they served in a battle that was not considered a WAR, therefore they didn’t qualify, and then there was Viet Nam, my era, soldiers returning home were treated badly, and I’m sure many other instances.

And now everyone is trying to make up for lost time, it’s military-this and military-that, get your free meals, get discounts here and there, all kinds of benefits and perks, all very much a..Little.Too.Late. Leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth. I know several vets who want no part of all of it. And I know some who say they’ll take it all, better late than never.

So, it’s like politics and religion, Jan, just nothing to talk about because everyone has different opinions. . Ok, that’s my soap box for the day. However, just a personal note, my Navy vet DD2, and DH’s Army vet DS2, both refuse to even discuss the subject, it upsets them too much. Ok, now I’m done.

Catherine, I looked at the TLC challenge and my eyes crossed. Then I thought, eat breakfast and have more coffee, then try it again. So I did.

Nope, still didn’t understand, LOL.

Do the CAS challenge! It’s much easier!

I subbed to the TLC challenge and planned to do it but I'm exhausted again today. So maybe tomorrow. I'm trying to think over the Wednesday tutorial. Yes I found it early again.

Kandie, I haven't gone back to take another look at the TLC challenge. I plan to, just haven't made it there yet. I made six graduation cards that are essential alike but there are small differences. I just uploaded them a little while ago. I looked at the CAS challenge last night but now can't remember what it was!

I just went and looked at the CAS challenge. My challenge with that challenge is keeping it CAS. Sometimes when I look through the gallery, it seems like not all cards are CAS, at least from my perspective. Maybe I need a better definition for CAS.

My brother came over to help DH lift today's window into place. DH thought this window would be too heavy for me as it is a 60x60 window. Thankfully it was the correct size! My brother had a good thought about the window that was incorrect, he thought perhaps the window made for us was still at the factory. They probably made it right but pulled the wrong window when shipping. I hadn't thought of that possibility. So, two windows are installed. Now we have to wait for the corrected window for the kitchen. At least two are in and helping keep the heat out!

Catherine, I was of the impression that CAS should have white space, but sometimes I see cards that aren’t white, lol, including some of my own!!!

Yes, I thought they were supposed to have white space and not have a bunch of layers. Obviously, there aren't challenge police and I'm glad for that. I have just been confused in trying to understand what they actually want for CAS.

I never understood that either. I think if a challenge calls for red and green, there should be red and green on the card. I would be a challenge police. I just think if you're going to do a challenge it should follow the hostesses actual challenge. I know I've stretched the alpha challenge. But I've stretched it on the letter, like for letter x, I might place my paper in the shape of an x because x words are hard to find and hard to utilize! I can see a sketch challenge turned sideways. But if there is nothing even close to the sketch it's not fair to the hostess. CAS to me is something with mostly white space, clean, and simple. If you spend hours coloring an image, I wouldn't say that's simple. I have seen some pretty awesome cards in the CAS Favorites of the week! They should probably have just gone in favorites of the week. I'm one of those rare bird organized rule followers. Why have rules at all if no one follows them? Am I alone in this thinking? Probably.... LOL

I believe it’s to be a simple design, although like I said, I’ve gotten carried away and realized my card was no longer simple, lol.

I may be confusing clean with simple. If I cut some dsp and put it on a base and stamp a sentiment. I feel like that's simple. But it sure might not be clean if I use a wild pattern dsp

Nah, you’re not alone, Kathy! But I am, on occasion, glad there aren’t any challenge police because of something I’ve gotten carried away with and that a hostess will still let me post in that thread. Otherwise I’d have a whole ‘nother box filled with stuff and labeled Cards That Didn’t Meet the Challenge.

But when you get carried away, and I do love those, you can still post them. Just not for that challenge. I saw one person who posted a card and listed fifteen challenges for that one card! Some of the challenges, I'm not sure how she thought it fit.

I post a lot of cards just to my gallery, not with any challenges.

I've been searching for instructions on the CAS challenge. What I found is that you are to create a card that is clean and simple following the instructions for that week's particulars. So it has both clean and simple in the instructions, Kathy.

She didn't explain how that card fit all 15 challenges?

I agree, Kathy. A card should fit the challenge. I realize there is some room for deviation, such as a sketch that has circles and someone uses flowers or ovals, or other shapes, but keeps the general essence of the sketch so it is still recognized. CAS should be mostly clean background, not necessarily white, but not all cluttered, and my definition of simple is it shouldn't take long to make the card. The idea being a card you can put together in a hurry at the last minute. If I'm making a card for a specific challenge and I deviate too much, I will simply upload without the challenge keyword. I think the reason some people try to add a dozen different challenges is they get more comments that way. I like comments, but I'm not going to go searching to find out how many challenges I can make fit my card just for that reason.

That is a beautiful card you linked, Kathy.

Hmm, I know there aren't challenge police but I certainly wish people would say how their card fits the challenge. I know I have looked at cards before and couldn't figure out how it fit and i would like to understand.

Kandie, I'm working on today's TLC challenge. I almost have it finished. I think I'm doing it right. I used scratch paper first because I wasn't sure!

That's how I feel too. As for comments, I uncheck the box to be notified of comments so unless I go back to a card for some reason, I don't always see the comments. While I do enjoy them, I don't want people to feel obligated to comment because I'm so poor at commenting myself and I feel bad about that. I try, but don't always get to it.

I needed a simple notepad app for jotting down notes. I found a free one with no ads and needs no permissions! Very easy to use. I downloaded it from the play store.

I did it! I made the TLC card but I won't take pictures until tomorrow and upload then because it is hard to take pics after dusk. I modified it to be an A2 card. I probably should have modified the 2 1/4 part of the card too but I didn't.

That sounds like a great note app. Free, no ads, and easy to use? You hit the trifecta!

I agree with all of you about keeping to the challenge, that’s why I struggle and sometimes don’t actually do the challenge.
I always thought that CAS meant no layers and mostly white space, Im Not good at that, I like layers, just can’t help myself!

Kandie I have seen programmes about Vietnam and how the veterans were treated.

A bit like Northern Ireland, some soldiers are being prosecuted for following orders when they served there almost forty years ago! Absolutely disgusting yet the IRA killed so many and now some are members of parliament.

Happy Tuesday everyone...it’s only 18 degrees here today....brrr...we have our winter woollies on and finally got out our ugg boots LOL. Two friends popped in for coffee and we all social distanced. I was stressing about it but it turned out to be quite a nice catch up and chat. I have even done some jigsaw today and am feeling creative today...heading up my craft room shortly to work out what to do.

Catherine, it was squally when we went to the shops yesterday. DH drove me as I don’t like to drive in bad weather and he waited for me whilst I shopped. Gosh it was tricky manoeuvring the trolley in the wind back to the car and we just made it back home before the heavens opened. It rained just about all day. Today has been lighter rain but it’s so dark and rain rain rain forecast all week.

Jan, I walk at golf for exercise. The only time I have had to hire a buggy is when it gets to high 30 degree weather, which means it’s 3 degrees hotter on our course, and I can’t cope. Yep the celebrities have a tough life. Did you see online a few weeks ago that some celebrities don’t even know how to cook or even make a cuppa for themselves....gosh what a life. I often wonder if royalty are like this although I know Kate wouldn’t be as although she grew up in an upper class home, her parents seemed pretty ordinary, especially her mother who had miners in her family tree. I would just love to have someone clean for me LOL

Kandie, I don’t get people either but then people wouldn’t get me LOL. Son2 went to NASCAR a few years ago. He is a car freak and was a mechanic. He’s now training to drive trains and loving it. When he got married, he told his wife to be that they couldn’t get married in April or particular weekends in May due to certain car races being on, also later in the year. His life revolves around cars, bikes and watching them on TV. It’s a good job she does her own thing LOL. She put her foot down when he started to have all these model cars being delivered and he bought glass bookcases from IKea for them. He wanted them in their living room and she said no. He now has them in his man cave. She also told him the scrapbooks I made for him had to go in there...his garage. I was mortified and worried they would get damaged but he assures me they are ok. They have a cupboard they could go in, but she wants things her way. Oh well, not for me as the MIL to say what goes on in their home.

Kandie, yes you have to have travel insurance once you go overseas as each country has their own medical rules. Within our country, we can travel and use our Medicare or Private Health cover. Overseas we have to be covered for not only loss of luggage, delayed flights, etc, but if we need medical attention. We know if we went to the States it would cost us a fortune so we have to take out cover. UK is ok and especially as I was born there but we still get cover...wherever we go once we head out of Oz.

Your Memorial Day sounds very similar to our ANZAC Day. I think Americans are more patriotic than anywhere else around the world, although some Aussies and Brits would differ. When I was growing up in the UK, we always honoured Poppy Day - 11 November, and even here we do but not as much as ANZAC Day end of April...it’s big here with Dawn Services and parades....some people though do see it as just another day and a day off work. I probably have got more into it since I lived here.

Jan, glad you finished your cards. I will check them out.

Annette, I’m so happy for you that you got to see your family. It’s tough but I love to read that everyone is doing the right thing and it makes it all the more special. I’m a big worry wart but I am letting my guard down a little. I’m still enjoying home with DH and not a lot has changed for us other than he will finally go back to golf tomorrow....if it doesn’t rain LOL.

Gracie, glad that you were going to craft and hope you managed to finish a project. I’m impressed you are still doing it.

Ann, hope you had a wonderful day with your poppets yesterday. I hope you managed to also have a rest and they looked after you for a change.

Annette....don’t you hate that when you forget to take a photo and have mailed the item. I have sent cards that I didn’t post on here and now I would love to replicate them. I now try to take photos of everything and then delete them once I’ve posted them on this site. I don’t know what I would do if I lost them all on here.

I didn’t get back to seeing the TLC challenge and now I may not as I do not like complicated things. It wasn’t posted every time I checked yesterday. I did like the CAS one but I’m not a CAS person as you know LOL. I also started a scrapbook page that I want to finish.

Yay Catherine to another window in and glad your DB was able to help. I could not lift a heavy window and worry about your back.

Kathy, you are not alone on rules...I am definitely a follow the rules person....unless I have accidentally broken one and I can’t say I am perfect but I try to follow rules. Son1 is the same and when he had a psych test they said to him...wow you are a follow the rule bloke. He said, I get that from my mum LOL. I have, however, done a CAS card and it’s definitely not CAS but I still post it. CAS to me is where they just have half or a third of the card stamped, etc and the rest left blank. That is not me unless I can put splatters or something.

LOL...I have seen some ladies post a card for so many challenges and I look and think...how does that fit, but as you say, there are no challenge police and I would imagine that the hostess is just pleased people have a go. I know I try to fit the challenge but we all have our own unique interpretation on something and what I may see, would be different to some of you ladies. Is that what they call art LOL? I think do what makes you happy and post it if you feel comfortable. I am so intrigued by this TLC challenge that I am going to look after I have finished chatting on here LOL...I daren’t stop now or I may lose this very very long post.

OK...I got to the end of the chat and now I feel bad for some CAS cards I have posted LOL. You ladies know I’m definitely not CAS. I love layers and I am sure I have done layers on CAS before. I also rarely do a CAS card.  I do now try and combine a couple of challenges when making a card if I can.  I don’t do it for comments though.  I often miss comments as I have unchecked having emails come to me as I get so many and sometimes I miss a comment or when it’s been listed in favourites.  It can take me weeks to find a card has been fav’d and only if I happen to go back to check my card out to see what I did LOL.

Speaking of favourites, I also used to post mine every Sunday....gosh it became such a chore and my iPad would freeze in the middle of listing them.  I now say in my comment I am adding to my favourites but won’t list them.  I do sometimes regret it and especially knowing people take so much time to add comments and do their favourites, but I don’t want things to become a chore.  As DH keeps saying to me...you spend more time saying what you are going to do, than actually doing it LOL.

I’ve also noticed that comments are made by the same group of ladies and ones who always create......especially you Alpha and Dirty Girls LOL.  I now ensure I comment on all Alpha cards, scrapbooking and a few other ladies whose cards I follow.  If I see one that pops out at me in the gallery which I especially love and I don’t know the person, I will also comment.  It has made my life easier than having to comment on every single card.  I think DTGD did it for me...it burnt me out with creating and then commenting on every person’s card.  The lady at our local craft store is on this site but she hasn’t posted for years.  She told me it got too much and now she just creates LOL

I’m going to check out more threads then craft.

Happy day

Ok...I still haven’t got up to my craft room but the mailman has just delivered my parcel from our local craft store. I ordered some stamps using my Mothers Day voucher...can’t wait to use them. They are very artsy and MM stuff.

Sorry but the TLC challenge is not for me this week. I started to read the instructions and gave up. It reminded me of some VSN or was it DTGD challenges. Once I see long instructions I switch off LOL. I’m sure it’s a fabulous challenge but we all have our thing. I shall look out for your gorgeous creations.

Good morning, everyone. Hot and humid today, high 80s and terrifically muggy.

Jayne, that’s exactly why I didn’t do the TLC challenge, my brain looked at all the directIons and yelled Redirect! to me, so I went to the CAS instead. I’m getting better at the CAS cards, trying to use a third of the card somewhere and leaving the rest, but as I mentioned before, sometimes I get carried away and then go, OH NO, it no longer is clean and simple! And then I get depressed, because of all the time spent on it. So I post it anyway.
I received all my Washi tapes I ordered, and also received a nice surprise. The tapes came in such cute color-coordinated boxes. When I get moving I’ll take a photo of them.

Dusty is enjoying the new couch. She has taken it over, thinks it’s her personal king-size bed.

The triple-E mosquito warnings are out again this year, Eastern Equine Encephalitis. I saw one on the bedroom wall last night and went after it with a vengeance and a large paper towel. Got it!

Ann, we bought new bedroom rugs! It was difficult to find a pattern DH liked, or was willing to pay for, but after walking all over several home improvement stores we did have some success. Then I wanted to go home immediately after, not because I wanted to put the rugs down but because I had to go to the bathroom. Public restrooms are not yet open to the public! DH likes to use the phrase 30 Steps to the Outhouse by Will E. Makeit, lol.

He told me not to get upset by all the people not wearing masks. One home improvement store was filled with people and only a few were protected. But another store was filled with people who WERE wearing masks! Who knows what goes through the minds of men? Only the Shadow knows! (Jan and Jayne, reference to an old radio show from generations ago)

I’m going to go see what the colors are for today’s challenge. Be back soon.

Kandie I went to the PO yesterday and a man and woman didn’t have masks on and the lady working there was putting the mail in the boxes, they stopped her and stood right next to her, I think they wanted to know If their parcel had arrived, she really went off on one at them, the woman was pulling faces like what’s wrong with her! She was flapping her hands but they just stood there, next to her.
They are lovely ladies in there, they hold out a box so you put your mail in for her to weigh, them pass your change back in the box, I was posting something to Australia, she said, is this for family, I said no a friend and so oh ok, I had to smile that she wants know who the mail is actually going to now, LOL

Talking of challenges, I was busy making a card for the splattered challenge, took me ages to finish it, took a photo and then just as I was going to upload it I realise it was on the CAS challenge and it definitely wasn't CAS, oh well that's another card for my stash.

I was finishing some card inners and decided to alter one as I didn't quite it looked good enough, I actually managed to ruin it! I do that quite often.

Pool is fixed but they are coming tomorrow to put the tiles back, he said they would come in the morning but after having staying in for two days steve told him he will ring when we get back from our walk, can't stay in another day!

Jan, I’m glad your pool is finally fixed! Not very nice of the men to keep promising to come and then not showing up, though.

I have ruined quite a few cards. The multimedia ones I did this weekend aggravated me to no end. I did post them, but I don’t like them at all. And I really don’t know who I would mail them to, to be honest.

Kandie I have lots of cards that I would never post to anyone as I don’t like them, I have cut up quite a few a while ago.

I totally get that need to add one more thing to a card and then ruin it by doing that very thing. Don't get discouraged. A ruined card can always be cut up and used as mosaic tiles or a strip background mixed with other papers and cardstock. If you are making backgrounds using a special technique, cut some of them up and mix them with other 'stuff' to make completely new backgrounds. Fun and rewarding for a different look.
