Jayne Im shy, but like to chat, it’s only since I met Steve that I got better, when I first met Steve’s family who were all loud I dreaded going to his parents as they always like to take the mickey out of everyone, the first time I went his sister said , you aren’t the one he bought home last week, mind you she wasn’t a very pleasant person .
same if we go anywhere, I won’t walk into a restaurant or anywhere first, I prefer to be with family as I can relax, have a laugh, my Mum once said to when it was their 50th anniversary not too organise a party as it would be her worse nightmare, I feel the same.

Hi Sis Vicki....good to hear from you but not good that your eyes are still troubling you. Not had any emails...the last one was a while ago and I replied to that. Did that parcel arrive? Take care and look forward to you coming back on to play. Hugs

Good morning, ladies, a rainy and chilly day here. It got up to 60 yesterday although the wind was cold in the shade. DH got one side of his storage shed aluminum-sided. Barn red. He’ll paint the trim white. It’ll keep him busy.

I’ve already forgotten most of the chat, a foggy brain this morning, so sorry!

When I worked at the large commercial real estate firm, I was the dragon lady at the lobby. No one got past me without an appointment. I had a multiple-line phone system and intercom. I loved that job. But, you see, I had a dialogue. I took the real estate course. I had the answers to the questions. However, like Jan, once I left the office, I had no dialogue to follow when around people I didn’t know, if you understand what I mean. I was totally uncomfortable around strangers and large crowds. And here’s a funny - inside a restaurant I always looked for the restroom immediately, because I didn’t want to look like an idiot walking around randomly looking for it in a place full of strangers, lol. And even when around some people I know, like DH’s family, I still don’t know what to say. Now around stepmom, on the other hand, we can yack for hours! She’s one of those who can talk to anyone!

Hello, Sis Vickie! So good to hear from you!!!

Got a sinus headache this morning, not bad, just uncomfortable.

I haven’t made any cards lately but got a lot more hankie dolls made.

The estate sale market has reopened! DH will be back at it, and we will have sales to go to each weekend, with restrictions, of course. And maybe I can find some more projects to spray-paint and color my hair interesting colors. :>

I forgot to say, I watched an episode of Monk yesterday that I could totally relate to. He had to make a phone call, so he was sitting at a table with piles of index cards on top, and key words on each stack. When the person on the line asked a question that related to one of the key words, Monk would pick up the top card, turn it over, and read what was on the flip side.  For those of you who don’t know the TV series Monk:

“Adrian Monk is a brilliant San Francisco detective, whose obsessive compulsive disorder just happens to get in the way.”

When Sharona, his helper, asked him how his call went, he said “I laid all my cards on the table”. Maybe we introverts should do that, carry index cards with us with what to say to different topics, lol.

Glad your card arrived Dagmar! Took a little less than three weeks. Not bad at all.

Kandie, I could watch Monk reruns forever. Although I preferred his helper, Natalie, more than Sharona. I wish someone would run Quincy, Murder, she wrote, and Diagnosis Murder reruns!

Morning!

Told Victoria she had to come on here just for a few moments! So glad she did! Her eyes hurt her so much, they must have messed up her surgery. I am still surprised they had told her that she got the "cheap" surgery for her eyes! What the heck!! And what did they do wrong that she keeps getting headaches now too.

She did say her daughter and grandson are getting migraines now also. Could be the heat and being in lock down. She said travelers are taking advantage and still going to the beaches, fines are now being given out.

Got a happy package this morning, my oldest son and his family sent me some lovely Heartfelt Creations paper and a gnome stamp for Mother's Day!! You know what I am using for next weeks letters!!

Funny, I sent my DIL toilet paper for Mother's Day! LOL! I felt bad so I am also sending her favorite candy! I did tell her the tp was coming, otherwise someone might take it off their porch! She said it's funny, I am excited to get toilet paper!!

Gracie, it is a treasured story of how we got together for our conversation and to do our "F" cards!! Hugs!

It's late and I have not eaten yet so off I must go!! Later!

Default Hello

Up late, and could not sleep due to back pains.... and finally fell asleep and slept until 10:30..... half of the morning gone! Oh well.

I went grocery shopping with DD2 last Sunday, with a Vegan and a Vegetarian in the house, we go through so many vegetables- like- 6 bags of Spinach plus kale a week, lots of beans, peppers, onions and tomato's too! ANyway, found TP! We should be good for a few weeks now.
We were almost done with our big list and I had to go back to aisle one, and I noticed the arrows on the floor- I was apparently not following the rules- oops!

My daughter has a Zoom account through her school that we would be able to access- it does not have the 40 minute time limit - if anyone wants me to set up a call, let me know.

Off to the craft space in a bit, not sure how long I can sit, so may straighten up a bit....

Shelly

Hi everyone! Whew, that was a lot of chatter to read. I don't think I can remember it to comment on it all.

Kandie, I'm so sorry your couch arrived damaged. That sucks! Have they given you an estimate for how long before the replacement will arrive?

DD1 calls herself an ambivert which is just a shorter way of saying both introvert and extrovert. Today was her first day back at work after two weeks off.

So glad Vickster popped in for a quick post but so sorry her eyes are still hurting.

Yikes, that was a LOT of ladybugs on that flower, Kathy!

It sounds like several of you would be like me and want to sit with your back to a wall facing the restaurant - if we could go out to restaurants right now. I have always preferred that, you would think I had been a police officer at some point in my life. Speaking of police officers, our current house we purchased from a family where the husband was an undercover police officer so, even though we are in the country, every exterior door has a security door too and the French doors that go out to the deck, there is a screen that can be pulled across and locked to secure that door too. A lot of security for out here....though there isn't anything covering access to the windows.

Oh, and last week when I went shopping, I was able to score tp so we are set in that area for probably a month or more (I got it at Sam's Club, so big packages).

Good evening. I think I figured out how to get video on facetime! I've just been accepting the call coming in, but apparently I need to also open the facetime app on the phone. At least it worked with DH and I testing it today.

I managed to get my 14 grad cards done by 6pm. We had a lovely supper of bbq chicken and salad, and now going to sit and enjoy my book. Have a good night all!

Shelly I would love to be on a call. If you are able to work out a time so that it’s either after 6am here or 6pm here that would be a great help but I can’t do this Saturday evening as we have a zoom call with my family in the UK.

Also, are you able to give me enough notice please so that I can let Karen know. I think she only has FaceTime though if we are able to do it through that? Sorry..so many requests. If this doesn’t work, maybe I can arrange another one for her. Thank you for the offer.

Ann, I don’t understand why our dear Sis is still getting headaches and now the others. Maybe it’s something in the home affecting them? I so wish she could see her niece, the Dr and get it sorted. It’s been going on way too long. Thanks for the update.

Hi everyone

Good morning, one and all.

Kathy, those three shows you mentioned are three of my favorites!

Catherine, we have not heard a word about a new couch. I said last evening if we don’t hear from anyone by Thursday afternoon, I’m calling my friend, who is the manager. I hate to bother him until a week has gone by, as it’s not his concern but the service department which is located in another town. DH said if he doesn’t hear anything by Friday, he’s going to call and tell them to put their couch contract where the sun don’t shine, and we’ll go somewhere else to get a couch.

Melody, so cute to see that little avocado seeding finally peeking out!

Hello, everyone. Headache here this morning, my eyes are bothering me, so I’m not real chatty at the moment. Everyone have a super great day.

Catherine we have security doors over the main door and also metalwork over the windows, they are called rejas, most spanish houses have them over windows and doors, I think it must be so we can leave windows open during the night.
When we first moved in and locked the door I panicked as we only have one door, we had our bedroom windows taken out and a patio door put in so we have another exit as we have a log fire, now we can look out over the pool while we drink our morning cuppa

I’ve been doing my shopping list, I have a master list take off what I don’t need and then print it out in big letters, the first time I went shopping I couldn’t read my own writing, I do write small and I also rush round scared of catching something, dodging people near me so I decided to write it in the order I go round the shop, works better, I go round and then check my list, if I missed anything I nip back, much better for me

We will finally have our vanity unit finished tomorrow, it’s been such a pain getting it plumbed in, the tiles at the back and to be knocked off to fit the new pipes and then it leaked, he came back and it seemed fine then it leaked when we used the hot tap.
He came around this morning adjusted it and it seems fine, fingers crossed, mind you I walked in there and nearly broke my neck, there was water on the floor, I thought it was leaking so I wiped it all up, told steve and then he admitted he had been in to wash his face and splashed water all over the floor, didn’t clean it up off course!
Tomorrow our neighbour he is coming round to put the drawers in, he needs to cut holes where the pipes go behind, well that’s the plan, Plan number 420 it feels like, it’s only been eight weeks.

Morning!

Jan, at least it is getting done! Spouse has things to do in the house from more then 15 years ago! That's why I get so disgusted, plus being at home I see the items not finished every day!

Hi Kandie, sorry you have a headache this morning. Hoping you hear about your couch soon.

It's sunny for now but a bit cool, suppose to warm up to 60 today!

I too have a slight headache this morning, really wanted to sleep in, but something was chirping in our room early. Thought it was the smoke alarm but nope, it's something on my spouses side of the bed. He can't find it, thought it was his sleep machine but that doesn't have batteries. Still can't find it! So I'm up and of course he just went back to sleep.

Off to start my day, have a good one everyone!

Ann, is there maybe an alarm clock with a battery backup?

Good morning everyone. Beautiful day today. I went out and beheaded my rhubarb and checked on my asparagus. The asparagus is up, but not quite big enough to pick, although I did snap one off and eat it. Yum. I may pick some rhubarb and make muffins. I made pumpkin muffins earlier this week and froze most of them. Then I just pull out one package at a time. I have canned pumpkin from a number of years ago, so I've been using that. Some of the jars aren't quite full, so I add rhubarb sauce to make up the 2 cups needed. I don't even notice a difference in the taste.

I should be outside doing some more yard work, but am being lazy.

Some of the jars aren't quite full, so I add rhubarb sauce to make up the 2 cups needed. I don't even notice a difference in the taste.

I should be outside doing some more yard work, but am being lazy.
I really miss rhubarb, it doesn’t seem to grow her, maybe it’s too hot, we have gooseberry plants, red and white currants at the moment so I’m looking forward to cooking won’t them.

Good morning. Kandie sorry to hear you have a headache...not a good way to start the day. That couch...what a pain in the patootie! I'm with your DH tell them to put it where the sun don't shine.

Ann, my DH's watch was pinging away and it was the alarm on it. He didn't know how to turn it off as he had accidentally set it. Thankfully, he keeps the directions to everything. I hope your headache disappears. Enjoy the nice weather.

Melody, that's great that you can use the video on Facetime now. Shelly, perhaps we all can set up a Facetime meeting that includes Karen. I'm sure Jayne's DH doesn't want me to set it up, since I rang them accidentally at 5 a.m. LOL

Melody and Jan, it sounds great to have a garden. I wish I had that talent. I love rhubarb and my mom used to make rhubarb jam, sauce, bars and strawberry rhubarb pies. Yum.

Jan, Tom and I are a great team when it comes to renovating or building things. I've learned so much from him. I can sheetrock, side a house, roof, lay flooring...but, of course, I'm less inclined since I've gotten older. LOL

So guess what the chirping noise was? Spouse even called the doctors office because he believed it was his sleep machine. He unplugged it and plugged it back in and the chirping began again.

He comes down stairs and all proud of himself for discovering where the noise was coming from.

He had under his side of the bed the old smoke alarm. How did it get there? Well that would be him! Now he says it must have been there for five years when he replaced the Heating/smoke alarms! LOL I was giggling to myself at that, ok the batteries lasted for five years! What I really find amazing is that the company that makes is machine is investigating why his machine is chirping! He hasn't called them back to say it was his error!!

I'm going to go crazy with him retired!

Oh my Ann! What a challenge you will have with your retired DH! LOL I think you'd better start making him a list of unfinished projects and post them all over the house!!!

I’m thankful Steve isn’t one to keep stuff, if it isn’t used it has to go, well that doesn’t include, screws , nuts and bolts, he will dismantle furniture to take out screws etc, anything wooden gets chopped up and burnt on the log fire.
He despairs of me as I will keep jars, boxes, tins, for crafting of course, LOL, now he evens asks if I need it before throwing things away.

We’ve just written a list in Spanish as we want gooseberry bushes, it seems the two garden centres near home have never heard of them ,have you ever tried to describe a gooseberry, lol, when I was describing it to the young lady across the road she pulled a I don’t have a clue face and then we both burst out laughing, the second didn’t even try to understand, anyway we have used good old google translate, apparently it is an Arbusto de grosella Espinosa, who knew!!
The other one was mulch, which is pajote try saying that,

You must be a very patient person, you should send him to our neighbour around the corner for training, she watches every move her husband makes so he doesn’t make any mess.when he’s working, he’s the one who does jobs for us and when I tell him to leave the mess as I will clean up when he’s finished he says no, no I will do it,

Good morning! I'm sitting in my bedroom (seems to be where I hide out to do my work as my DH is in the dining room which, in this house, is part of a great room concept), the girls are in their rooms) with the windows open and listening to the birds singing away outside. There is one (perhaps more) bird that starts singing away early and loudly. DD2 is ready to shoot that bird!

Speaking of DD2, she is helping me change my wood mount stamps into cling stamps. We have removed all the wood blocks, I have prepared my plastic pockets, now I'm ready to put the Aleene's Tack It Over and Over on the backs. I'm very excited to have this project almost done. DH helped with it some too. I have two boxes of wooden stamp blocks!

Kathy, when we still lived down the hill, we got a channel called MeTV and they used to run Diagnosis Murder on it so I got to introduce the girls to that show. I like all the shows you mentioned too.

It's fun to see a sprouted avocado seed, Melody. I've never had any success with that...perhaps I wasn't patient enough?

Sorry you have a headache this morning, Kandie, and that is so frustrating about your couch! Grrrr!!!!

Jan, that would have made me concerned to have only one door too. Alternate exits are a good thing. For grocery shopping, I use an app called Cozi because all four of us can add things to the list using our devices. Theoretically, when someone takes the last of something, they add it to the list so we never run out. Before I go grocery shopping, I arrange the list in store order just to make it quick and efficient. Before I used this app, I had a master shopping list on the computer divided into grids for the store where I shop. I copied a bunch of them and had them on the side of the refrigerator so you would just write the item in the appropriate grid to make it easy when shopping.

I hope your vanity gets completed, that sounds like it has been quite the project!

Ann, sorry you have a headache too...and were awakened early. I hate when that happens! Sometimes my DH gets right on a project and then other times, not so much. I'm not sure what makes the difference for him. Sometimes he forgets the project though, I know that happens to him.

Melody, my dad loved rhubarb. He grew both rhubarb and asparagus plus he had a big garden but the asparagus had its own patch and rhubarb was separate too, not sure why. He grew way too much asparagus for us to keep up with since it grows like a weed. I ate so much asparagus as a kid that I don't really care for it anymore. The growing conditions where we lived must have been perfect though, because his asparagus, even when it got big, was still tender and tasty. I used to make people so happy by giving them a grocery bag full of asparagus. Win/win! I have never liked rhubarb though and hated it when he cooked it!

I do miss dad's garden, veggies are so much tastier when they are garden fresh!

Gracie, wow, you have a lot of talents in the remodeling department! I should have more since we basically re-did our previous house before we sold it but I mostly schlepped for my DH though I did almost all the interior painting.

Oh Ann, he really should call them back and let them know he identified the chirping and it wasn't from the machine!

Jan, I must confess, I have heard of gooseberry but I don't really know what it is either!

Jan, I find it hard enough to communicate in my own language sometimes! LOL I'll bet your vanity will be wonderful when it's done. You'll have to post a picture.

Hi Catherine. I love tender thin asparagus but definitely not the thick, woody stuff. Yuck.
I'll bet that feels so good to have all your stamps "dewooded". I did that to most of my sentiments, too, last summer. It's great to be able to used them with the Misti.

Ann, my DH is a hoarder of wood materials, nuts, screws, metal parts...thank goodness the garage is done. Now, he can store all of his stuff in there.

Hi Gracie! I'm not a fan of asparagus at all now, I think I ate my entire life quota in my childhood. But that was the magic of where dad grew his, it didn't get woody when it got big. People were always surprised by that.

We just got back from a walk around the loop so now I'm warm. Last night, the girls gave me an invitation to a tea on Sunday for Mother's Day. Of course, they have to make everything themselves since we are still shut down. I'll have to take a photo of the invitation DD2 created for me.

I agree that the thin young asparagus is best. I also love the little tender brussel sprouts. DH will also eat asparagus but refuses to even look at brussel sprouts. Apparently his sister made him eat them. (She is 16 years older than him).

Did a Walmart run today so I don't have to on Friday. Mostly for Mom and dad. DH went along and pushed out cart while I got mom's stuff.

Demo friend is holding class on the 16th! We are excited to get back together. It's been two months!

Catherine, The problem with the vanity unit, apart from the leaks that it had only been fitted the day before lockdown, when it leaked our neighbour Came round and decided he needed some different pipes so the drawers could close fully , problem is the very next day we went into full lockdown and so he couldn’t get the pipes or come round so we had to just switch the water off and not use that bathroom, now eight weeks later he got the parts and has only just been allowed to come round.

Gooseberries are green or red, small round, a bit hairy and sour.
