Does anyone find it an oxymoron that the virus originated in China, and now China is selling masks to the US because we don’t have enough?

Jayne, good luck with getting your money back,
yes we finished the painting, we only painted the back wall of the villa and that used 15 litres of paint, it must have soaked in .Someone once gave us some olives but after reading about how to marinate them, I threw them away, seemed a long drawn out process, maybe the ladies here know a better way, it took weeks too. I buy them , ha,ha, it’s funny our son always said he preferred the olives that you buy by the kilo, not tinned, I had to tell him that they all come out of a tin or a plastic bucket, the market stall tips them out of the tins to sell them!!

We have sunshine, yippee, we mopped up first thing before breakfast and I’ve had a couple of hours in my craft room and now I’m downstairs keeping Steve company, he’s sooo pleased as I keep interrupting his podcast, ha,ha.

No flour at all here, there so many things we use it for, never even thought about it before as I always have Plenty of it. Last night I made fried bananas in butter then mixed honey, water and a little brown sugar, mixed it with the butter, made a change from just bananas and yoghurt. Steve has a banana every day, it stops his calf muscles cramping up, it’s a miracle cure as sometimes he could hardly walk, read it online and it really works.

I’ve just made the last pumpkin bread, it smells delicious, I’ve been saving it but after rain all day yesterday by the time it came to bedtime I was totally fed up, just the smell has cheered us up!

I’ve just been reading that next weekend they may let us go for a walk, this weekend they have let children out for an hour a day for a walk, apparently they are already abusing it, typical. We’ve been trying to find it on the spanish news but can’t find any confirmation so I’m not going to get too excited.

Morning!

Flour, our stores here have it! No yeast in the stores though. Thankfully I do have some and gave some to number one son.

Some areas in Wisconsin have seen a rise in virus cases. They are investigating why.

Those bars sound amazing, Melody, I think we are all asking for the recipe!!

Ann, I kinda figured I hear that.

Here is the recipe attached.  And no flour or yeast or TP required!

Looks scrummy but can I ask what measurement is a cup? Do you mean a drinking cup or have you one of those measuring spoon type things

Oh Melody, I am going to make those for my boys!! They love peanut butter! Spouse hates it, says he can not stand the smell. Image that he eats peanuts, cashews, etc and they grind up to peanut butter in your mouth, sort of! LOL

Melody, is it in a greased pan? Or enough grease with all the butter in the recipe?

HI Jan, 1 cup is 8 ounces or 226.8 grams. Sorry you have no flour. Hope you get some soon. I hope you can get outside soon, too.

Thank you for the recipes Melody and Catherine! Yum!

Jayne, glad you made some progress getting your money back, but sorry you weren't able to take your trip. 2 pages! Yay! How exciting that you may be able to visit with poppets! I video'd with sister and friends from Wisconsin again and made 3 cards yesterday. Hope your toes feel better soon. When I broke my toe it took a few months to feel completely better. Hugs.

Ann, how is Athena today? Sadie is still recovering but not completely herself yet. Poor puppies. We keep watching statistics from Wisconsin but I don't think we'll go back yet, with the increase in cases and protests. Maybe head back the end of May.

Kandie, I suppose your snuggling with Dusty now. So happy you have sunshine!

Shelly, I'm going to have to go back and read again. We rescued Sadie from a shelter...we think she's part lab and retriever.

I've forgotten a lot of the chat already. I have to go back and reread. Anyway, hello to everyone I've missed. We are going to take a drive to Canyon Lake today.

Gracie, Athena ate this morning but she just seems not herself and is trying to eat grass. So I'm sure she will throw up again soon. She is sleeping again right now.

The girls will be 11 in August so they are getting up there in age and both have torn ACL"S. Iris has recovered from both back legs being torn and not able to walk. My youngest son lifted her for over two months outside to the bathroom and held her up.

Athena just has the one torn, on the back right. It's very stiff for her, but she tries to run anyway and we have to stop her. Both girls go outside with the aide of a lift wrapped around them.

It's very hard for both of them in the winter.

Ann, I’m so sorry Sadie is having the spells of vomiting and diarrhea again. I woke up around 4 because I heard that urp that tells me Dusty is getting sick. I got her tissues under her mouth just in time. Ugh. Warm upchucked dog food. I think she got a little over stressed at the grooming salon. That, an she is 11 and an old lady as well, good days and bad days.
No flour or yeast here yet, but DH found toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins for a change. One per customer, of course. At least a system is being set in place so there’s no more panic buying.
Gracie, not snuggling today. The sun is up and it’s almost 60. I’ve straightened up the front porch from the wind, got laundry going, one room dusted, and more hankies ironed and ready to make dolls. And a running nose and blurry eyes. Pollen? Grass? AaaaCHOO!

Ann, with the butter and peanut butter, I did not grease the pan. Doesn't seem to be a problem. I also just softened the butter rather than melt it. And I crushed graham crackers for crumbs. One pack makes more than a cup, so I ended up with maybe about 2-1/2 cups instead of 2, but dumped it all in anyway. What am I gonna do with a half cup of crumbs?

If we weren't social distancing, I'd tell my daughter to come and get some. I do not want to eat the whole pan. Neeeeed to get them in the freezer in small packages.

I think I'd substitute milk chocolate in stead of semi sweet. Do you use real butter or can I substitute margarine?

You could put them outside for her to pick up.....I'd eat the whole pan too so I'd be sharing with my sister and bil next door!

Hi everyone! Wow, it has warmed up here. DH and I got up and went run/walking and it was WARM! I'm glad we got it over early. We haven't been doing that, just walking, because DH has been having knee problems but he thinks he has gotten it worked out now.

Thanks for the recipe, Melody, I think I can make a vegan version for my DH to enjoy.

You're welcome, Kandie! LOL Dusty looks so adorable! Honey is looking more like a little bear, she definitely needs a trim.

Your millennials and our neighbors. Last night I went to bed just after midnight and neighbors who live down the hill were outside being noisy...until 2 am at least. My right shoulder was hurting me, otherwise I would have just dropped off to sleep.

Jan, they haven't even let you get out to walk and exercise? That would really drive me crazy and I think the sunshine and fresh air is so important to our immune system and health.

Jayne and Jan, I hope you can get some flour soon. I'm searching for tp here.

Yay, Jayne, that you got things sorted with Emirates, good luck with the rest.

Gracie, you're welcome for the recipe, enjoy the cookies, they are a favorite of mine.

Kandie, your pew babies are so cute!

Melody, you could arrange a pick up with your daughter by setting a time and then leaving them out front for her to pick up. I've read about people doing that.

Kathy, I was planning to sub a vegan "butter" if I make them for my DH. He is trying to lose weight though, so perhaps I shouldn't make them! lol

Here is something DD2 was up to. She had to do a simple cup to cup transfer using a paper towel to wick the moisture from one to the other for science. I told her we should do a rainbow but we had to purchase food coloring as we didn't have red. So, this is the result. It was fun.

That's pretty!

Does anyone remember when stampin' up switch to foam ink pads? I think we can still use the old reinkers except for a few colors? Does anybody remember what colors that weren't to be used to re-ink. I think Marina mist was one, but it's retired now anyway

I don't remember when the switch was made, Kathy. I do think that basic gray was one that you couldn't use the old re-inker on the new pad....I have all my old catalogs, I should be able to determine it.

I just found a Youtube that said SU switched to the firm foam pads in 2012.

Thanks Catherine. I should have asked my friend Mr. Google first! I found the answer. It was basic black, basic gray, marina mist, perfect plum and tempting turquoise. Most of those are retired any way. My friend is getting new ink pads to replace some of her old felt pads and thought shed have to buy all new reinkers, but she won't!

This is what I found Kathy:

When SU! switched from the linen pads to the firm foam pads, these color formulas were no longer compatible and the old re-inkers could not be used on the new foam pads:

Tempting Turquoise
Marina Mist
Perfect Plum
Basic Gray
Basic Black

Kathy, I only use butter, but I'm sure you could use margarine. I just don't buy that anymore. You don't bake these bars, so there is no chemical change. But you can normally use either in a recipe.

Yes, we chatted on zoom again today and talked about leaving some outside for DD, but I think if she wants some, she'll probably make her own.

They are all now in the freezer, single layer in containers, so when I want ONE, I can just take one out. I cut them pretty small, so I can be good.

I don't have any of the newer SU ink pads. I prefer the linen, because it holds so much more ink. Plus the foam ones get damaged if you do some direct to paper techniques. If I get to the point that I need to reink a retired color, I will probably just try to get the closest color to match. I still have refills for most of my ink pads. I don't buy the in colors.

Oh boy, we just got communication from DD2's high school about faculty changes for next year. They are going to have a negative impact on her school life, we might have to find another solution for her senior year of school...a favorite teacher has been out on medical leave this entire year with a long term sub. He has now resigned and she (me too) doesn't like what they just announced for staffing next year.

I don't buy in colors unless I'm in love with them. And I don't buy the markers, but I love the blends. My demo friend says she loves all the new in colors. I'm just not getting on the color changing bandwagon. Usually if I love a new in color, it ends up being a regular color eventually. Mossy meadow and blackberry bliss were once in colors and they are two of my favorites.

Here's my first card!

SC421 Calm and Peaceful by annsforte3 - at Splitcoaststampers

Yikes! I think I was all about what I could cut out and what ribbon I could use on my cards then.

Default Hello

I am going to let my mouth water from the sound of the Reese's bars, but won't make them.... I am trying to drop 5-6 pounds and am stuck......

I am the only one that is not a runner here, and the girls made a mention of a neighbor's garage- as they pass it on their daily runs and walks with the dog too. It is a true man's cave for a dabbler- elecrtrical engineer, and it is slick as can be. They commented there is enough Toilet paper in his garage for the block..... LOL I have not seen that myself, but we will be needing some soon.... They are elders on the block- retired and world travelers. That really made me laugh and I will have to look/see when I walk if his garage door is up.....

Catherine, so sorry about your daughters senior year. Love the color transfer- wondering if the color will travel anymore- or if some of the colors move more than others.

Melodie- Did you ever Zoom before the quarentine? I love it- so fun to have a family chat. I like the linen pads better as well- I have some of each. One day I will get rid of all of the pads that I have same color spots for- as I do not use the pads enough.

Kathy- we cannot stop laughing about the Popeye answer! Oh yeah- so funny!

Kandie- love the pew dolls! Wonderful! And, so sorry your sweet pup is getting sick!

Ann- so sorry your pup is getting sick. It is so hard when the pups get older- so sorry they struggle.

Waving hello to everyone else. We took a walk tonight with the girls and the pup at a Forest Preserve right around the corner from out home. It is peaceful and sundown was so pretty!

Shelly, our norm is to get together for Sunday lunch with the kids, so the zoom chats are something new. We are using the basic version of zoom, so we have a time limit. Today, DH set us up for two consecutive sessions. We played some games until we ran out of time.

I have a lot of other ink pads besides SU and distress that I rarely use and probably should get rid of.

Beautiful photo Shelly.
Ooh peanut butter..no thank you. I’m with Ann’s hubby on that. The smell just makes me want to chuck yet I love peanuts. DH loves peanut butter and has just had some.
Gracie, nice to get out. Is your foot improving?
Love the dolls Kandie.
Catherine, sorry about your DD’s senior year.
Well from today we can have groups of 10..still 1.5m apart. Not sure how that is going to go but we will see the poppets later in the week for now. Nothing is reopening yet. I also downloaded the governments app that tracks whether you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid19 provided they have the app too.
Art class with DGD soon...yay. Sleep well ladies and hi to those I’ve missed and to those who are still missing.

Here's my first upload: nature's cameo. There has been some definite improvement over the years.

Kandie, those dolls are really cute. I have to admit. I still use some of those vintage hankies. I like them for in my purse, instead of hunting for a wadded up tissue. And then I can just toss them in the laundry.

I've made church dolls from fabric. About 1" by about 3" (or so), just a stuffed rectangle with a happy face on one end and a sad face on the other.

Default Hello

Oh goodness, my first card uploaded: Faux Postage

LOL= stamps were $0.37

I learned to stamp via Technique Junkies... I look through the gallery and can see all of the techniques I learned over the years, and why I have some of the obscure products on my shelves!

Morning ladies, I like all the first cards made, I haven’t any photos to show but my friend started crafting at the same time and we very often laughed at our first efforts.

Steve found the news item about being allowed out to walk, nothing confirmed about any details, I do hope so as we haven’t been allowed out now for over six weeks.

We are trying to cut down as we feel we’ve gained a few pounds. We Normally walk a few miles a day so it’s not helping been stuck in.

Gracie thanks for the measurements, now I know why my recipes don’t work, LOL.
We only use weighs in our recipes so it always throws me when I see cups.
